* AbortedArc: Julie Madison, Bruce's steady girlfriend in the film, was originally scripted to have a more prominent role where Poison Ivy actually killed her and motivated Bruce for revenge. This was cut by the time of filming, but the movie clearly still has elements of this in the screenplay and Julie abruptly vanishes from the film in the third act without even so much as a reference as to where she is.

Any time he tries to do something useful -- be it catching Batgirl from falling off the telescope platform, [[AchillesPowerCord going for Bane's weak point]] after figuring it out, and hacking the satellite systems to redirect the mirrors -- Batgirl beats him to it every single time, leaving him with [[SoLastSeason barely any contribution to make]].

* SoLastSeason: Robin is presented as this in-universe. Compared to his appearances in ''Forever'', he's pretty close-to useless in most of the film's encounters, and mostly just acts as a [[TheLoad whiny, incompetent dead weight]]. The one meaningful contribution he has to defeating the villains -- namely, finding out from Ivy what Mr Freeze's plan is -- is made redundant by both Batman and Batgirl being there anyway, and any time he tries to do something useful in the climax (attempting to hack the telescope's systems and save Batgirl from falling off the telescope platform), he immediately gets outdone by Batgirl.

She lays on top of him and after blowing her dust in his face and flirting with him for a moment starts leaning in to attempt to kiss him. ** When Robin arrives at Ivy's lair to meet with her, the two briefly flirt with each other before Robin asks her to give him a sign of trust, specifically asking her to tell him her plan. Ivy leans forward and tells Robin she will tell him if he kisses her first, obviously expecting him to jump at the offer. Robin however refuses and instead flips her offer, telling her to tell him the plan first and ''then'' he'll kiss her while staring her right in the eyes. Shortly afterwards when Ivy gives in to Robin's demands and [[JustBetweenYouAndMe tells him how Freeze is planning to destroy Gotham]], Robin initially tries to leave without kissing Ivy, hurriedly declaring he needs to stop Freeze and turning away from her. But it ends up subverted when Ivy grabs him and pulls him back, "innocently begging" him to share one quick kiss with her "[[MotivationalKiss for luck]]", and the two share a passionate kiss together.

some.

As far as superhero films go, and maybe film in general, the movie has become [[ExactWords something of]] [[DamnedByFaintPraise a legend]]...and by "legend", we mean a shining benchmark of how ''not'' to adapt a comic book property, the result of Schumacher's zany direction style (ramped up from the already out-there ''Forever'') mixing with [[ExecutiveMeddling executive pushes towards a more family-friendly movie]].

The ''Batman'' franchise [[FranchiseKiller was ultimately left in limbo]] as a result, with several prospective follow-up films doomed to DevelopmentHell at best or cancelled at worst, including a Robin spin-off and a would-be DarkerAndEdgier sequel titled ''Batman Unchained''. Schumacher received the lion's share of public criticism for the film's outcome, [[MisBlamed even for decisions the executives made]], and even ended up ''issuing a public apology'' to disappointed fans. However, as a silver lining, the film has become one of the most well-known to ever earn the "SoBadItsGood" label.

Then Ivy, instead of [[ForcefulKiss grabbing him and forcing a second kiss on him]], instead angrily shoves him off her throne and into the pond to drown him, then [[BondVillainStupidity tries to leave while tauntingly saying bye,]] treating it almost like she's breaking up with Robin for tricking her instead of trying to kill him for [[HeKnowsTooMuch knowing too much]] or humiliating her.
