** Not just to skim the atmosphere; it's shown that while prowlers can function in atmosphere, they aren't designed for it. Chrichton's module was an experimental craft built to exit atmosphere, perform slingshot maneuvers, and reenter atmosphere, all under the power of a cruder propulsion system. And while Peacekeepers have little respect for their technicians, Crichton can maintain his module all on his own.

HiddenDepths: At the time that John arrives in the Peacekeepers' area of space, the Peacekeepers are a ruthless and feared military force. But there are subtle hints dropped throughout the show and it's eventually revealed in the miniseries that the Peacekeepers were originally bred and organized to defend the defenseless and bring order to a galaxy threatened by war with the genocidal Scarrans. Yes, Peacekeepers are xenophobic and intolerant of aliens, but there's no evidence anywhere that they would commit the kind of atrocities that Scarrans dream of going to every other species. When the crew travels back 300 years to a besieged monastery defended by a squad of Peacekeepers, these Peacekpeepers are shown as outright heroic. Finally, the modern Peacekeepers got to play back up to the heroes throughout the second half of "The Peacekeeper Wars." Braca came off especially well. Instead of being Scorpius' dragon he showed himself to a be very capable command officer, an was one of the few of Scorpius' soldiers who actually survived. During this conflict the Peacekeepers were allied with the Luxans, Tragans, and probably other species, so whatever their xenophobic attitudes, they were basically fighting along with everyone else against Scarran genocide.

Some of these Sebaceanoid aliens, like the closely Acquarans, do not appear to suffer from Sebacean Heat Delirum, living comfortably on a tropical planet. The Jocaceans looked Sebacean and were protected by Peacekeepers from the alien Veneks, but they lived over 700 years old. They could be another notable subspecies of Sebacean with super-extended lifespan. A few times, however, Sebaceanoid aliens seen on showed up with non-Sebacean internal physiologies, and the show were actually Sebaceans.Wolexian Arachnid, a spider-like predator, assumes a Sebacean form as part of its feeding practices.

The fact that they didn't hit anyone else means that either they're fully aware of their implausibly bad aim, or are confident enough in their improbable aiming skills that they believe then can take out the rest of the team and leave Crichton unharmed.
