* IdiotBall: Izuku's [[DeathSeeker passively suicidal tendancies]] lead to him picking this up whilst fighting a Trigger user with a crab Quirk, running in up close to hit him with his pipes rather than using his slingshot.

* InsaneTrollLogic: Izuku's horrible self esteem causes him to jump through a lot of mental hoops to explain away a lot of his positive encounters with others, such as Aizawa being relieved he's still alive after Izuku ran off with serious injuries or Aizawa complimenting his analysis skills. For the former, Izuku just assumes he's terrible at reading expressions and for the latter, he decides Aizawa was lying to make him feel better even though he knows of the man's BrutalHonesty tendencies.

* MeaningfulBackgroundEvent: In Chapter 6, a thug complains about the flies flying around him and his group and biting them. Shortly after, they all go berserk, showing signs of being affected by [[FantasticDrug Trigger]], even though Izuku did not see them shooting up or smoking. He later realizes that there should have been no flies, because it was night and they should have been asleep. [[spoiler:He later realizes that the "flies" were actually the delivery system for Trigger.]]

* MetaphoricallyTrue: UA handles the accusation that vigilantes were involved in dealing with [[spoiler:the LOV attack on the Sports Festival]] by claiming that the vigilante in question was [[spoiler:Dabi]], a civilian with no prior record who was there for personal reasons and technically committed vigilantism by using his Quirk to help out, and was being let off lightly due to it being a first offense. This distracts the press from the fact that Viridian had been involved.

* NoSell: Being Quirkless, [[spoiler:Izuku is totally immune to the Quirk-burning poison contained by the bees which attacked Bakugo, Ogawa and Eraserhead. Next chapter reveals that he didn't even realize the bees were injecting him with poison.]]
