* VaporWear: Brought up when Glimmer confirms that she wasn't wearing any underwear with the basically see-through dress she wore for her pre-Games interview, which only avoided exposing anything because the translucent material was layered over "the really bad parts" (in Katniss's words). Glimmer has to wear the same dress for the post-Games interview alongside Katniss as her existing designer wasn't interested in working with her and Cinna didn't have time to design anything new when he couldn't even get her measurements.

Absolute Cleavage was renamed Navel Deep Neckline. Removing examples that don't fit the trope.

* AbsoluteCleavage: Glimmer enjoys outfits that give her a chance to show off her assets; the only thing she dislikes about them is that they make it hard for her to practice her post-Games hobby of gymnastics, due to her being too well-endowed to balance properly.

This or these examples of Surprisingly Realistic Outcome seem to violate at least one of these rules, which disqualifies them: No character reactions (characters get angry, don't forgive, don't change their personality instantly, etc.); Too fantastical (depends on the properties of magic, powers, sci-fi tech, monsters, etc.); Not surprising (a character was warned about the outcome, it's used to provide Karma or An Aesop, or it simply follows normal conventions for this genre or medium); Plot happens (the example only describes an event, but not why audiences would expect a different, unrealistic outcome); Not an outcome (a character just explains why something wouldn't work as expected, or something is just an innate aspect of the setting or character that has a logical reason for being present); More of a Deconstruction (the event has major, lasting effects on the plot, make something more realistic, but not completely realistic, or a parody/fanwork applies realistic consequences to the events of a different work); or fits better under a different trope. See the trope's definition for more details. If you believe a removal was a mistake, please bring it up in the cleanup thread.

** Basically Glimmer's reasons for working with Katniss in the first place; as Glimmer sees it, going off on her own would be automatic suicide if she's caught by her former allies, but staying with the Career Pack means that she would almost certainly get stabbed in the back once the remaining non-Career Tributes are dead. By allying with Katniss, the most capable non-Career in the Games, Glimmer can be assured of an ally that both won't betray her at a moment's notice and will give her an interesting challenge when the time comes for the final battle

** The whole premise of this series, as Glimmer, dismissed as the ruthless but essentially airheaded District One female Tribute, becomes Katniss's ally in every sense of the word during and after the Seventy-Fourth Games, developing into a more rounded character who subtly resents the role she is forced to play for the Games even before she and Katniss help each other survive and grow beyond the arena.
** Also used for Foxface, who here is named 'Finch' and actually becomes a part of Glimmer and Katniss' alliance rather than a briefly-acknowledged 'rival' [[spoiler:(even if she doesn't survive their first major assault on the Careers)]].

The Valkyrie on Fire series by [[https://www.fanfiction.net/u/2095766/Relena-Mishima Relena Mishima]] is an AU version of Hunger Games that starts during the night Katniss spent in a tree with the Careers and Peeta beneath her. Where in canon she slept through the night, woke up to see Rue in time for the girl to suggest using the tracker jackers as a weapon, and subsequently acted alone, in this version of events, Katniss wakes up in time to be noticed by Glimmer, the female Career from District One, who tosses the bow to Katniss and offers her an alliance against the other Careers in exchange for a more evenly-matched final battle than she’d get against the other Careers. With that deal, Katniss’s life is changed, as she and Glimmer come together to form a surprisingly effective team, both in the Seventy-Fourth Games and beyond…

The series currently consists of four stories, each one essentially looking at the events of the four films; ''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/9346556/1/I-Am-Not-a-Victim I Am Not a Victim]]'', ''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/9643250/1/Everyone-Loves-a-Victor Everyone Loves a Victor]]'', ''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/10507294/1/Viam-Eorum Viam Eorum]]'', and ''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/11979054/1/Aegre-in-Alie Aegre in Alie]]'' (the last is currently dormant, but nothing explicitly indicates that it has been abandoned).

!!''I Am Not a Victim'' contains examples of:

*AbsoluteCleavage: Glimmer enjoys outfits that give her a chance to show off her assets; the only thing she dislikes about them is that they make it hard for her to practice her post-Games hobby of gymnastics, due to her being too well-endowed to balance properly.
*ActionGirl: Katniss and Glimmer each soon establish themselves as this; Glimmer is initially introduced as a DarkActionGirl, since she killed three Tributes in the opening bloodbath, but the rest of the series basically sees Glimmer acting to redeem herself by facing more worthy opponents, all subsequent fights pitting Glimmer against foes that she has at least a valid reason to kill.
*AdaptationalHeroism: Glimmer goes from being a ruthless Career who took glee in killing the other Tributes to Katniss’s trusted ally and partner who genuinely regrets her initial victims in the opening bloodbath.
*AdatiationalSexuality: [[spoiler:Katniss has a romantic and sexual relationship with Glimmer, although given Katniss’s canonically-established issues with romance it’s hard to say definitively that she never felt that way towards any girls in canon]].
*AdaptationalVillainy: Cashmere was a ‘loyal’ Career in canon, so she was already far from a saint, but in this version of events her jealously of Glimmer’s popularity drives her to [[spoiler:book the first Victor-on-Victor ‘appointment’ with Glimmer and Katniss simultaneously]].
*AscendedExtra:
** The whole premise of this series, as Glimmer, dismissed as the ruthless but essentially airheaded District One female Tribute, becomes Katniss’s ally in every sense of the word during and after the Seventy-Fourth Games, developing into a more rounded character who subtly resents the role she is forced to play for the Games even before she and Katniss help each other survive and grow beyond the arena.
** Also used for Foxface, who here is named ‘Finch’ and actually becomes a part of Glimmer and Katniss’ alliance rather than a briefly-acknowledged ‘rival’ [[spoiler:(even if she doesn’t survive their first major assault on the Careers)]].
*AssholeVictim:
**After [[spoiler:Glimmer kills Clove, practically the first thing Katniss, Glimmer and Peeta agree on once they’re all together is that Clove deserved to die]].
** Glimmer has very little regret about [[spoiler:killing Cashmere]].
*AttentionWhore: Finnick muses that Cashmere is one, to the point that she actually enjoys having appointments at the Capitol as another sign that she’s adored and popular, and resents Glimmer’s recent victory taking attention away from her.
*AxCrazy: Glimmer affirms that Cato and Clove came across as this to her, recognising them as stone-cold killers who would be too dangerous for her to face alone when the Career alliance breaks up.
*BerserkButton: Finnick spends most of his time relatively controlled, essentially resigned to the role he has to play to protect his loved ones, but when [[spoiler:Flash starts talking about how Annie (Finnick’s wife) didn’t deserve to win her Games, Enoboria is the only reason Finnick didn’t stab Flash straight away, even though they were officially still on the same team]].
*BirdsOfAFeather: Katniss and Glimmer might be polar opposites superficially, but they are each skilled fighters who stand out from the traditional stereotypes of their District Tributes.
*BloodKnight: Flash, the District One tribute in the Quarter Quell, comes across as the worst example of this, killing two Tributes in the initial bloodbath but becoming so covered in blood that the more experienced Finnick wonders how he got that much blood on him.
*BrokenBird: Glimmer has a breakdown after Rue joins her and Katniss as Rue reminds her of the Tributes she killed in the opening bloodbath; watching this back in District Twelve, Madge speculates the Capitol let this air to give the impression that Glimmer was weak.
*BrokenPedestal:
** Glimmer basically goes through this over the course of the story where the whole system of the Districts and the Games are concerned, as she learns the truth about what is involved in being a Victor (beyond just getting a crown and a title), and witnesses the Games from the perspectives of the outlying Districts.
** During the Quarter Quell in Everybody Loves a Victor, [[spoiler:new District One Tribute Flash initially venerates Finnick, but eventually dismisses him as a weakling who gets too worked up about ‘worthless’ Tributes such as Annie, stabbing him in such a manner that Finnick will die slowly and painfully (although giving him enough time to be taken for medical treatment)]].
*BrutalHonesty: Gale and Haymitch each earn points with Glimmer for their willingness to just say what they feel.
*TheChessmaster: In a change from his role as a discreet chessmaster for District Thirteen in the canon, Haymitch [[spoiler:is forced to reveal his own plans when he overhears Glimmer, Katniss and Gale’s plans for a last stand in the Quarter Quell]].
*CripplingOverspecialization: Katniss is deadly with a bow and arrow, but she’s relatively useless with any other weapons, although she develops enough hand-to-hand combat skills to conceivably hold her own for a few moments if she’s caught off-guard.
*CulturedBadass: Cinna explicitly compares his training as a stylist to Glimmer’s own training as a Career, each of them having worked hard to learn their craft.
*DeathByAdaptation: [[spoiler:Peeta sacrifices himself to save Katniss and Glimmer in the final confrontation in the Seventy-Fourth Games]].
*DemotedToExtra: Thresh never gets his moment to spare Katniss in this version of events, as she only sees him directly when he is killed by the Careers in the final showdown.
*DoWellButNotPerfect: Glimmer’s goal when she got her score of 8 in training; as she later observes, 8 is just high enough to attract the interest of the other Career Tributes without appearing so skilled as to be particularly dangerous to the others before she’s ready to show what she can really do.
*DueToTheDead:
** Glimmer goes to great lengths to give [[spoiler:Finch]] a Viking-style funeral, and later [[spoiler:addresses District Five during her Victory Tour to tell them to be proud of Finch, who showed Glimmer that just being smart could be an asset. During the ‘funeral’, Glimmer privately admits to Katniss that she thinks that Finch could have excelled at the Academy as she had the spirit to be a great Career with training, not even crying when she was stabbed through the chest, where Glimmer had seen some Academy trainees bawling over far more minor wounds]].
** Also, [[spoiler:as an indirect homage to Finch, Cinna’s designs for Glimmer’s outfit in the opening of the Quarter Quell are based on the Valkyrie, Glimmer’s outfit including veils that form into wings when an electrical charge is sent through them]].
*EarnYourHappyEnding: Basically defines the reason Glimmer disliked the idea of Peeta winning the Games; after [[spoiler:Finch died fighting]], Glimmer resents the idea that Peeta would get to go home when he’s done nothing so far but tell bad lies to the Careers and get a serious wound rather than actually make a difference to anybody.
*EvenTheGirlsWantHer: Played with for Glimmer, who freely flirts with Katniss, leaving Katniss bemused at receiving that attention from another girl but not entirely against it. [[spoiler:They eventually get together]].
*EvilCannotComprehendGood: In a loose sense; Madge speculates that the Capitol allowed Glimmer’s breakdown about her actions in the Bloodbath to be broadcast because they wanted to show her as weak, but personally Madge considered it an important step in showing Glimmer as a human being rather than the traditional ruthless Career, leaving Madge assured that Glimmer could be trusted.
*EvilCounterpart: Suggested if not explicitly stated; Katniss notes various similarities and differences between Glimmer and her official ‘mentor’, Cashmere, and Glimmer openly speculates that her ‘partner’ in the Quarter Quell, a muscular young man known as Flash, was chosen to counter her through his reliance on raw power rather than Glimmer’s superior tactical expertise.
*EyeScream: [[spoiler:Cato]] is killed with an arrow to the eye.
*TheFashionista:
**Cinna is complimented for his design skills to the point where Glimmer easily dismisses her own stylist in favour of Cinna’s designs, musing that the only reason she didn’t like Cinna’s initial work on Katniss’s outfit was because it drew attention away from Glimmer herself.
**Puella, the stylist for District One, attempts to establish himself as this, but he falls short compared to Cinna.
*FashionVictimVillain: Flash, Glimmer’s ‘counterpart’ in the Quarter Quell, falls victim to this, as his outfit is described as a very tacky ensemble of flashing lights that his stylist is trying to get to catch on. By contrast, with [[spoiler:Cinna acting as Glimmer’s stylist, she’s provided with a far more tasteful and awe-inspiring outfit modelled after the Valkyrie that completely draws attention from Flash]].
*FemmeFatale: Glimmer is naturally this, soon establishing herself as a dangerous fighter while also being beautiful.
*Foil:
**Glimmer and Katniss are obvious examples of this, with Glimmer the outgoing blonde FemmeFatale while Katniss is a quieter brunette tomboy, although they make a good team nevertheless.
**Cinna is given a Foil in the form of Puella, District One’s stylist, as Puella goes to far too much effort to make himself and his creations stand out where Cinna draws a clear line between making a dramatic impression and pure lack of taste.
*ForWantOfANail: Everything changes because Katniss and Glimmer each woke up at just the right time for Glimmer to attract Katniss’s attention and propose their subsequent alliance, rather than Katniss dropping the tracker jacker nest on the Careers and killing Glimmer before she could make such an offer.
*FromNobodyToNightmare: For the Capitol, certainly, as [[spoiler:Glimmer and Katniss’s group of Victors become a significant force on the board in their own right during the revolution]].
*GuileHeroine: Finch essentially serves as this during her alliance with Katniss and Glimmer, with Glimmer later complimenting Finch’s intellect [[spoiler:after her last act gives Glimmer and Katniss a chance to deliver a serious blow to the Careers]].
*GuysSmashGirlsShoot: Simultaneously acknowledged and defied by Katniss and Glimmer, as Glimmer favours hand-to-hand combat- whether unarmed or with weapons- while Katniss is more skilled at archery.
*HeWhoFightsMonsters: More in the sense of ‘She who lives with monsters’; Cashmere has spent so long living in the Capitol’s world that she has essentially become one of them rather than one of the District residents, to the point that [[spoiler:her resentment of Glimmer drives her to become the first Victor to book an appointment with another, scheduling a night with Katniss and Glimmer]]
*HeWhoMustNotBeSeen: Glimmer’s parents are referenced, but are never shown directly, to the point that [[spoiler:after the Victors decide to mount their own campaign, Glimmer explicitly states that they shouldn’t bother ‘rescuing’ her parents as they’d never be able to cope with life outside District One and would probably side with the Capitol]].
*HeelRealisation: When she meets Rue, Glimmer is forced to acknowledge that, while District One regards being a Tribute as a noble pursuit, when she actually used that training for the first time in a real fight during the opening bloodbath, she just killed three kids who barely knew what they were doing and would never have been in that position if they’d had a choice, acknowledging that there was no honour in what she did during that bout.
*HeroWithBadPublicity: Glimmer falls victim to this once she returns to District One, as the Academy and other Victors go to great lengths to claim that she isn’t a ‘real’ Victor due to the unconventional nature of her victory, with the result that Glimmer can’t even follow the example of other Victors and teach at the Academy.
*HeroicSacrifice: [[spoiler:Peeta gives his life to save Katniss and Glimmer, shooting himself up with so much pain medication that Cato gets his sword stuck in Peeta’s chest while Peeta advances on him, distracting Cato long enough for Glimmer and Katniss to kill him]]
*HiddenDepths: Glimmer and Katniss soon establish that Finnick is more that the Capitol flirt he has developed a reputation as when they meet him.
*IgnorantOfTheirOwnIgnorance:
**Talking with Rue and Katniss gives Glimmer a fresh perspective on life in the outer Districts that she’d never considered, leaving her disturbed to realise how many families in the further Districts have to rely on their children to help themselves survive where Glimmer’s parents have no real ‘need’ for her assistance.
** On a minor note, this same conversation results in Katniss and Glimmer learning that Rue didn’t know what a virgin was, with Glimmer in particular reflecting that a child who doesn’t even know about sex really shouldn’t be in the Games.
*ImpaledWithExtremePrejudice: The final fate of [[spoiler:Finch, [=AKA=] Foxface, who is killed by a spear thrown by Marvel that punctures her lung]].
*JackOfAllStats: At least suggested for Glimmer, who is well-trained in most hand-to-hand combat weapons; many observe that the fact that her weakest weapon is the bow makes her a good partner for Katniss, allowing Katniss to protect her from long-range attacks while Glimmer deals with the threat at close quarters.
*JerkassHasAPoint: As in canon, Haymitch soon establishes a ‘reputation’ for making valid points even if ‘his’ Tributes (now unofficially including Glimmer) don’t get along with him as a person.
*KarmicDeath: Cashmere, a Victor herself who has nevertheless become as bad as many of the Capitol, [[spoiler:gets stabbed in the heart by Glimmer during the chaos of a bombing raid on the Capitol]].
*LaserGuidedKarma: Cashmere [[spoiler:is killed when she attempts to force Katniss and Glimmer to ‘attend their appointment’]].
*LastStand: [[spoiler:Katniss, Glimmer and Gale contemplated rushing for the Cornucopia and taking out as many of the other Tributes/Victors as they can in a final stand before they die in the Quarter Quell, but Haymitch tells them about the plan to get some of the Victors out of the Quell so that they’ll abandon that plan]].
*TheLostLenore: Played with for [[spoiler:Peeta, considering that he sacrificed himself purely out of love for Katniss, and yet Katniss never really felt anything that deep for him even if she mourns his death]].
*MeaningfulName: Subverted in the case of Marvel, as even Haymitch muses that he’s far from a ‘marvel’ in terms of a traditional Career as he has nothing special going for him.
*MoralityPet: In a sense, Rue and Finch serve as this for Glimmer, with Rue inspiring Glimmer to admit her own regret for her actions in the bloodbath, establishing Glimmer as someone Katniss can trust rather than just another brutal Career, while Finch shows Glimmer how non-Careers can have their own strength even without training.
*MsFanservice: Glimmer sets herself up to come across as this, although she makes it clear that she never went so far as to actually have sex with anyone.
* MutualKill: In Everybody Loves a Victor, [[spoiler:new Career Tributes Flash and Otho kill each other before any of the opposing Alliance members have to do so, leaving Finnick and Enoboria free to join Katniss and Glimmer’s alliance as they escape]].
*NoodleIncident: Katniss and Glimmer’s treatment of Rue [[spoiler:and Finch]] after their deaths actually inspired full-on riots in Districts Eleven [[spoiler:and Five]] as they actually showed true respect to their allies rather than discarding them after death as traditional Tributes should.
*NotSoWellIntentionedExtremist: Snow, as in canon.
*ObfuscatingStupidity: Glimmer admits that she basically relied on this to get through the Academy, feigning just enough of an air-headedness for people to underestimate her while still demonstrating her skills with weapons and various forms of combat so that she’d get into the Games.
*OnlySaneMan: Glimmer considers herself basically this out of the District One and Two Tributes in the Seventy-Fourth Games, noting that Cato and Clove are both hardboiled killers and Marvel doesn’t really have anything going for him beyond raw physical strength.
*TheReasonYouSuckSpeech: Peeta tries to give one to Glimmer about how she only knows how to kill where his family can at least make something that gives people life and support, but Glimmer counters that she doesn’t think she’s better than him because she knows how to fight, but because she actually did something in the Games where Peeta has basically spent the Games trying (and failing) to trick the other Careers and accomplishing nothing but getting himself hurt.
*SanitySlippage: Cashmere demonstrates that she’s fallen victim to this when [[spoiler:she insists on Glimmer and Katniss keeping their ‘appointment’ with her even as the Capitol is being bombed]].
*SexSlave: As in canon, Glimmer and Katniss face this fate once they win their Games, [[spoiler:but various factors prevent them from ever attending any ‘appointments’]].
*ShipToShipCombat: [[spoiler:Cinna]] essentially ‘weaponises’ this when [[spoiler:he]] anonymously creates a mass of merchandise focused on the idea of Katniss with Peeta and/or Glimmer during the Games, encouraging the Capitol citizens to root for Katniss to end up with one or the other. This goes so far as to culminate in [[spoiler:an actual riot when the Games organisers don’t immediately announce that the contest is over or that the new rule is invalid after Peeta’s death as the ‘fans’ resent the implication that neither of their ‘ships’ were ever going to be allowed to win]].
*SilentConversation: Katniss and Gale were already skilled at having these when out hunting, and Gale in particular teaches Glimmer how to do this as they prepare for the Quarter Quell to give them an extra edge in the Games.
*SmarmyHost: Caesar Flickerman still comes across as this, although he continues his more ‘sympathetic’ attitude when talking with Katniss and Glimmer about the deaths of [[spoiler:Rue, Finch and Peeta in particular]].
*TheSmartGuy: Beetee is this for the rest of the Victors [[spoiler:in Glimmer and Katniss’s new independent rebellion]].
*SpannerInTheWorks: The Gamemakers attempt to turn Peeta into this by introducing a revised rule that two Tributes can win if they’re in an alliance prior to the end of the Games just as Katniss and Glimmer find Peeta, in the hopes of triggering a conflict between the three over which of their ‘team’ should survive.
*SparedByTheAdaptation:
** Glimmer, originally Katniss’s first victim in the 74th Games, now becomes her partner in first the Games, then [[spoiler:the rebellion, and finally in a romantic sense]].
**[[spoiler:Cinna escapes his canon death to more officially join Katniss’s rebellion]].
*StalkingIsLove: Peeta acknowledged that his interest in Katniss might be considered stalking as he spends so much time watching her, but he ‘argued’ that it wasn’t a crime to want to know more about the person you love.
*TakeAThirdOption:
**Basically Glimmer’s reasons for working with Katniss in the first place; as Glimmer sees it, going off on her own would be automatic suicide if she’s caught by her former allies, but staying with the Career Pack means that she would almost certainly get stabbed in the back once the remaining non-Career Tributes are dead. By allying with Katniss, the most capable non-Career in the Games, Glimmer can be assured of an ally that both won’t betray her at a moment’s notice and will give her an interesting challenge when the time comes for the final battle
**Later, faced with the option of working with District Thirteen on nothing more than propaganda pieces or being stuck with the Capitol, Glimmer convinces Katniss to instead [[spoiler:join the other rescued Victors and open up their own campaign against the Capitol]].
*TakingYouWithMe: On their first night in the Capitol prior to the Quarter Quell, [[spoiler:Katniss, Glimmer and Gale decide that the best they can hope for is to take the Cornucopia in the opening fight and eliminate as many of the Careers as they can before they’re killed, as Snow won’t allow any of them to live]].
*ThereIsNoKillLikeOverkill: Invoked in a sense when [[spoiler:Glimmer kills Clove by slitting her throat and stabbing her in the heart; however, Glimmer later clarifies that the initial attack was just meant to make Clove stop her current charge and create an opening for the subsequent thrust, but Clove was so focused on her attack that the obvious threat of the sword didn’t register]].
*TokenGoodTeammate: As far as the District One Tributes and Victors can be considered a ‘team’, this term definitely applies to Glimmer as she comes to respect the strengths of non-Career Tributes and take time to understand life in the outer Districts, to the extent that she expresses disgust at the idea that her ‘fellow’ District One Victors are almost certainly encouraging next year’s Tributes to basically torture District Twelve’s Tributes in the next Games (before they learn the new ‘rule’ of the Quarter Quell).
*TomboyAndGirlyGirl: A neat summary of Katniss and Glimmer’s dynamic, with Katniss rougher around the edges and with little clue about how to use her femininity while Glimmer is the better dressed and more obviously attractive, even if they’re each skilled fighters.
*TooGoodForThisSinfulEarth: Katniss explicitly muses that Prim and Rue each come across as this, having an innocence about them that should have never been allowed in the Games.
*TookALevelInBadass: Katniss and Gale get this when Glimmer sets up her own ‘Academy’ in District Twelve to train them both, recognising that the Capitol will do everything it can to put the three of them in the next Games.
*TrapIsTheOnlyOption: Used at the conclusion of the Seventy-Fourth and Seventy-Fifth Games, created by both the Gamemakers and [[spoiler:Katniss, Gale and Glimmer]] respectively; all parties know that they’re being lured together for a final showdown, but accept that they can fight now when reasonably prepared or fight later when at least one of them won’t be in a suitable state to do so.
*UnspokenPlanGuarantee: Katniss, Glimmer and Gale demonstrate a perfect example of this in Everybody Loves a Victor when [[spoiler:they silently come up with a plan to take out six mutts that had been sent after them, luring them into an ambush while making it look like the trio just split up and abandoned each other to their fates]].
*VillainWithGoodPublicity: Snow is an obvious example, but Cashmere is another one, with Glimmer [[spoiler:expressing disgust when she finds Prim watching Cashmere’s funeral on TV and talking about her death as though it’s a tragic loss, prompting Glimmer to tell Prim some details of what Cashmere was really like]].
*WorthyOpponent: Glimmer initially teams up with Katniss specifically because she recognises that Katniss has the potential to be a worthy opponent when the Games come down to just the two of them, where the other Careers are more likely to end their alliance by stabbing Glimmer in the back and the other non-Career Tributes don’t have the skill to give Glimmer a real fight.
