Where in canon she slept through the night, woke up to see Rue in time for the girl to suggest using the tracker jackers as a weapon, and subsequently acted alone, in this version of events, Katniss wakes up in time to be noticed by Glimmer, the female Career from District 1, who tosses the bow to Katniss and offers her an alliance against the other Careers in exchange for a more evenly-matched final battle than she'd get against the other Careers. With that deal, Katniss's life is changed, as she and Glimmer come together to form a surprisingly effective team, both in the 74th Games and beyond…
