* BoobsOfSteel: Averted in the case of the female bounty hunter OCs. The author has stated that Erity has an average-sized bust in comparison to the canon characters, and Yari is a petite woman in general.

* FiveManBand: Carrion and his lieutenants.
** TheBigBad- Carrion, as he is the leader. And despite having silly moments, he wants the Star of Kāla for his own selfish reasons... and won't let anyone get in his way.
** TheDragon- Enoch Vaughan. He is the strongest of the lieutenants and is Carrion's most trusted subordinate aside from Saffron. However, he is shaping out to be a DragonWithAnAgenda, [[spoiler: and Carrion may not trust him as much as the reader thought]].
** TheEvilGenius- Baba Runo to some degree. He has his moments of stupidity, but proves to be somewhat strategically intelligent after utilizing his Trojan Stratagem. He is at least not as stupid as everyone thinks he is.
** TheBrute- Erity. She the next strongest after Vaughan, and has to play leader when he's not around. She is physically strong, violent, and is the tallest of the lieutenants.
** TheDarkChick- Baba Yari. She is a Goth Lolita, sadistic, and is prone to bouts of psychotic behavior (well, so is her brother on that last account, but whatever).

* AnOfferYouCantRefuse: How Vaughan framed his offer to join Carrion when they first met. Vaughan was freely offering to help, and going off Carrion's display, it was going to be a while before the ex-Marine was prominent enough to get anyone else to sign on. At that moment, Vaughan was all he had.

** Chapter 14 reveals that Yari and Runo are from [[spoiler: Alabasta]]. They were banished from the kingdom by [[spoiler: King Cobra]] two years ago. The second Omake Special goes into detail about this.
