** When Mousse, Ryouga and Ranma first confront the Death Phantom in the first chapter, Ranma issues a formal martial arts challenge. This actually causes the Death Phantom to pause for a few moments, hesitating before finally introducing himself and going on the attack. [[spoiler:During the final battle against Tanizaki, who was himself a martial arts master, Ranma is able to ascertain that he and the Death Phantom are one and the same, the latter having been corrupted by the planet Nemesis' power to the point where'd he lost all knowledge of his name and original skillset.]]

** Ranma does this to Jaedite after kicking the DD girls our of Furinken High School.

* {{Foreshadowing}}: In chapter 10 [[spoiler: we see Helios perform a ritual to reunite the two halves of the Golden Crystal so Tuxedo Mask can close the Nameless One's portal as Endymion. Ekim, who witnessed the event, had no clue that an artifact of that level of power ''could'' be divided in two.]] [[spoiler: This nicely sets up the possibility that Sailor Moon can divide the Silver Crystal in two to save both herself and Unit Zero much later in the story.]]

A Youma named Beneda barely manages to escape the Sailor Senshi and is saved by Ryouga. This one act of kindness sets off a cascading avalanche of trouble as the Dark Kingdom, the Sailor Senshi and the crazy residents of Nerima all get involved. But don't worry, Ranma has a plan...

A ''Anime/SailorMoon''/''Manga/RanmaOneHalf'' crossover by [[http://www.fanfiction.net/u/397720/claymade Claymade]] that manages to capture the flavor of both its sources and expertly combine them into a story that is alternately dramatic, action-packed and so very, very funny. * TheRightOfASuperiorSpecies: This is Metzger’s justification for his actions since the creatures he experimented on were subhuman it didn’t matter what he did to them.

** As Tanaki found out after the Senshi and NWC were able to defeat the Wyrmspawn, the "ScrewTheRulesIHaveMoney" mindset can only take you so far. No amount of bribery or blackmail could compel public figures to give support to someone responsible for erasing an entire Special Ward of Tokyo off the face of the earth.

* HiredGuns: Lao Shihong and his men are this. They were the only tribe that required payment to fight the Dark Kingdom. Lao himself put it best

** [[spoiler:Ranma, Ryouga, and Mousse even confronted Death Phantom at one point. Death Phantom is powerful, even for them, and even proceeded to MindRape Ryouga like he did Chibi-Usa. But unlike Chibi-Usa, Ryouga draws power from his depression [[DidntSeeThatComing and launched a]] '''[[DidntSeeThatComing GIANT]]''' [[DidntSeeThatComing Shi Shi Hokodan at him]]. They only served to detract him long enough for Sapphire to get to Prince Diamond. And once again, the Senshi have no idea that they had help from the outside.]]

** When briefly held captive Hotaru is ForcedToWatch her father being tortured, when Ryouga saves her, she goes on a RoaringRampageOfRevenge without once raising her voice.

* DidYouJustPunchOutCthulhu: Ranma and Ryouga vs. Jadeite.

** It starts off with Beneda's desperate scheme to get the NWC and Senshi fighting each other.
** Throw in Cologne's plot to keep an eye on her as Amazon tradition demands her death and sends Mousse to be her eyes in the matter.
** Ranma's crazy Dark Lords plan.
** Gosunkugi altering the plans and the placement of explosives [[spoiler:on the gas main]].
** That doesn't even include the Dark Kingdom. Jadeite and the Darkmistress are plotting against each other, the other generals each have their own plans going on, and it culminates with Modra's plan [[spoiler:to discredit Jadeite and send him to his death]].
** In ''The Dark Lords Ascendant'', we have Tanizaki's plan [[spoiler:to steal Sailor Moon's power]].
** Ranma's plan to find out what Tanizaki is up to in [[spoiler:the Dark Kingdom]].
** The Senshi trying to keep Sailor Moon safe and deal with all the threats popping up.
** Davidson's plan to escape and use [[spoiler:Sailor Saturn as leverage over Tanizaki to get more of the serum]].
** And then it turns out that [[spoiler: A youma seer, once known as Bunbo, was also in on this. His actions include [[HeroicSacrifice giving himself up to Tanizaki for a chance to truly and completely defeat him]], [[SpannerInTheWorks tricking Tanizaki into revealing himself and his plans to Sailor Moon early]], and (due to being literally in the enemy's hands and Tanizaki recalculating the risk/profit on him) giving his story to Beneda because he is [[SacrificialLion highly unlikely to tell it to anyone else]].]]
** Ekim, Tanizaki's hired wizard, keeps seeking artifacts that will allow him to perform a ritual to release his master, the Nameless One. [[spoiler:After his seeming death at Sailor Mars' hands, the Nameless One takes direct control over what's left of Ekim's body and begins making preparations for the ritual itself. It gets as far as locating an appropriate sacrifice before Tanizaki even gets a hint of what's going on]].
** The cherry on top is [[spoiler:the newly-freed monsters in the Dark Kingdom making plans to defeat the Sailor Senshi by trying to pair one of them with Ranma]].

* When briefly held captive Hotaru is ForcedToWatch her father being tortured, when Ryouga saves her, she goes on a RoaringRampageOfRevenge without once raising her voice.

* TakeAThirdOption: This was how Beneda escaped the Senshi trapped at a dead end Beneda threw herself sideways—slamming her shoulder into the bookshelf beside her. While she was still struck she survived.
** Too ashamed of himself to run away but still to afraid to fight the wyrmspawn head on Genma decided to attack Tanizaki’s base preventing him from interfering.

* TreacheryCoverUp: Ranma and Ryouga hid Soun and Genma running away from the fight against the Dark Kingdom from Akane because they didn’t want Soun to become a BrokenPedestal to her like Genma had become to Ranma.

* VanHelsingHateCrimes: This is what Beneda led the Nerima Wrecking Crew to believe what happened to her.

* WeakButSkilled: Helios In his battle against Unit Zero, while she was powerful enough to trap him in her dream she didn’t take away his RealityWarper ability.

* WhatYouAreInTheDark: The most important lesson Happousai had taught Soun and Genma was that when you scoured away the philosophy from a man, and scoured away his fine-sounding morals, and scoured away his very pride itself... what lay under all of that was one simple question. Whether or not he would do what it took to survive.
* WhipItGood: One of the martial artists hired by Tanizaki

* XanatosGambit: Knowing that Jadeite losing to the Dark Lord would have massive repercussions for him Kunzite proposed that the three remaining general join forces as equal partners, committing equal portions of their armies. As well as share the risk, the credit, and the blame should Queen Beryl be displeased by their initiative in launching this offensive in what was—technically—still Jadeite's jurisdiction. As a way of breaking the deadlock that had formed between Nephrite and Zoisite. However, his true plan was to beat the Dark Lords' strongest into submission so his youma could possess them.

* YankTheDogsChain: In universe after years of drugs and torture, years of meditating on the twisting threads of fate and chance, years of scouring his visions to find whatever means he could to nudge the future in the direction that could stop Tanizaki Ryo was nearly about to achieve his goal only to [[ForeseeingMyDeath foresee his death]].

** To ashamed of himself to run away but still to afraid to fight the wyrmspawn head on Genma decided to attack Tanizaki’s base preventing him from interfering.

* SharedDream: The sequel has the heroes uses [[DreamWeaver Pegasus]]'s abilities to connect to those asleep to conjure a mass shared dream for the citizens of Japan in order to directly communicate with them. This is to counter the BigBad CorruptCorporateExecutive who used his media connections to portray the Sailor Senshi's attack on his headquarters as unjust attack on a honest businessman.

** Tanizaki as well does not like to be manipulated

** Beneda attempted to perform this upon realizing that the Senshi could still sense her.
** Ryo allowed himself to be caught by Kazuo because he received visions that his parents would be [[MakeItLookLikeAnAccident killed]] in the initial kidnapping and contacting the Senshi would force Kazuo’s hand. Finally he saved a family from a SerialKillingsSpecificTarget before turning himself in.

* TheAlliance: The army to battle the Dark Kingdom is built from the various clans of the Qinghai Province many of which hate each other.

* RevengeBeforeReason: Averted Ranma was afraid that Meihui would use the battle against the Dark Kingdom as an opportunity to get back at Cologne but his worry turned out to be unfounded.
* RightForTheWrongReasons: Sailor Moon activated Ranma’s curse hoping that Ekim-Ranma would be easier to defeat as a small animal not knowing that it was a gender curse. However since Ekim placed his spell Ranma’s Male body, by activating his curse Moon significantly weakened it.

* SadisticChoice: Zhang did this to Mousse in the past. When he and his partner Yingjie fled the Four Arts Assassination School he cut them both with a poisoned blade then left them with a single dose of the antidote.
** Davidson gave Metzger one as well. Either give him and his men blackmail material to use against Kazuo. Which would undoubtedly fail and get him killed, or Davidson kills him.

* ScrewTheMoneyIHaveRules: After the Senshi used Helios to explain to people what Tanizaki was doing a substantial amount of his employees quit.

** After the Wyrmspawn attack, Tanizaki loses most of his few remaining allies, even in his criminal ventures, as no one wants to be associated with the destruction of an entire Ward of Tokyo.
** Thinking that Tofu’s clinic was Cloudcuckooland do to everyone’s desperate attempts at preventing her from realizing who they were Ami eventually just ran out to the point that she didn’t even remember leaving.

* SelfDestructMechanism: One of the Inquisitor of the Black Section used this to get out of being interrogated by Cologne.

* SinkOrSwimMentor: Genma tried to play off his suggestion of abandoning Beneda as this stating that if they keep helping her she wouldn’t learn to defend herself.

* SpannerInTheWorks: [[spoiler: Suffice to say that Tanizaki did ''not'' expect Genma's attack on his energy cannon, much less its success.]]
** Averting this is the reason Cologne refused to allow Happosai to join the army against the Dark Kingdom.
** Akari ended up coming to Nerima earlier than expected
