* AllThereInTheManual: The author's Fanfiction.net profile includes character notesm including where the Rangers are from. The author also posted a notes chapter, which details some of the [[WhatCouldHaveBeen possibilities that never came to fruition]].

* InnocentlyInsensitive: When Sean's teammates are over, Hitomi and Aaron ask Ritchie why he doesn't look Indian. Ritchie responds "Wrong Indian!" To be clear, Ritchie is full-blooded Native American and a member of the Oneida Nation. After that, Hitomi asks what he thinks about ''{{Disney/Pocahontas}}''. This annoys Sean, but Ritchie is a good sport anyway, saying that he hates it not only because it's [[HollywoodHistory inaccurate]], but also because it [[Administrivia/ComplainingAboutShowsYouDontLike sucks]].

* {{Homage}}: To ''Film/JamesBond'' in episode 30, right down to the DrinkOrder.

* SpoiledSweet: Hitomi clearly, Maria implied.

* NeoclassicalPunkZydecoRockabilly: A literary version. Officially, it's a sci-fi action fic. But other than that, there are so many other influences that it spans a whole range of genres, even within one chapter!

* {{Camp}}: The author is obviously inspired by ''[[Series/PowerRangersRPM RPM]]'' and ''Film/TheDarkKnightSaga''. Any Camp is either downplayed, mocked, [[TakeThat criticized]], deconstructed or done in a [[UpToEleven Gurren Lagann-style awesomemness]].

* FiveBadBand: The Zordonians, not counting the QuirkyMinibossSquad ... only problem is, there's four.

By contrast, the Rangers have either dark-colored hair or clothing and their [[GoodIsNotNice attitudes are not typical of your usual goody-two-shoes Power Rangers]] (save for [[TheIngenue Hitomi]] and maybe [[SemperFi Rob]]). There are of course variations, as Eruvanda wore white as the BiggerBad [[spoiler: before it was revealed that she was being manipulated by Ragnar and was GoodAllAlong.]]

* ExtremeDoormat: Hitomi when [[spoiler:Daisuke convinces her to split with the Rangers along with him. Considering the nature of the story, this is lampshaded, as the other Rangers were surprised that she could just obey him like that. She eventually recovers and delivers an [[MomentOfAwesome epic]] ReasonYouSuckSpeech to her brother, calling him out for his arrogance and nationalism.]]

* [[spoiler: HeroicBSOD: Sean, Kevin and Maria suffer a]] ''[[spoiler: big]]'' [[spoiler: one in episode 14, with Sean even being in a semi-catatonic state. Later in the episode, Daisuke suffers one after getting beat by Hercuron and after Hitomi [[TheReasonYouSuckSpeech chews him out for being selfish]]. [[UnexplainedRecovery But they get better.]] [[CrowningMomentOfAwesome ''MUCH'' better]].]]

** But the biggest one comes in [[spoiler: Episode 15. Sean is down, but he blocks Phaedos's sword and goes HotBlooded, declaring he's going to kill Phaedos, somehow tapping into the suit's power which spreads to the rest of the Rangers and they're [[MomentOfAwesome able to beat the Zordonians]].]]

* TuxedoAndMartini: Episode 30, right down to Sean's martini drink order... [[CrowningMomentOfFunny which Sean promptly spits out.]] Heck, the ''name'' is a reference to this trope, just with the "martini" changed to "beer".

* AscendedMeme: Deifed in Episode 15, [[spoiler: when a staffer is about to say Sean's power level [[DragonBallZ is over 9000]], Col. Greene stops him from saying it. However, it's said in episode 33.]]

** Sean pulls a triple ''Film/DieHard'', ''Film/ThePrincessBride'' and ''Film/HomeAlone'' reference in episode 23. The title is even a reference to ''Film/TheMagnificentSeven''.

* MagicalNativeAmerican: Played with. Native American magic is mentioned, but by an anthropologist who has studied Native American culture. The concept itself is criticized by the author both in-story and in the author's notes where he cites ThisVeryWiki.

* GenreSavvy: The Rangers, and even Col. Greene is implied to be.
** Hitomi's love of ''Anime/SailorMoon'' comes in handy in a later chapter, when Daisuke [[spoiler: correctly assumes that Kalderon is in disguise]], using the example of Nephrite, the character whom Kalderon is based on. It works, because instead of getting angry, Sean realizes he's on to something.
* [[GetAHoldOfYourselfMan Get A Hold Of Yourself Chica]]: The only way for Maria to get Hitomi out of her BewareTheNiceOnes / BerserkButton mode is to take her helmet off and smack her.

* PantyShot: Averted; GenreSavvy Maria knows that if she wore a skirt, then she'd get some unwanted attention.

* PatrioticFervor: Justified in episode 19. The USA wins the WorldCup and celebrations pop up all over the country. It's not really mentioned afterwards, though.

* DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything: InUniverse and out. Ragnar's rhetoric during his DoNotAdjustYourSet speech reminds Maelstrom of terrorist rhetoric, even a [[OsamaBinLaden certain someone]].

** In episode 6, the Rangers badmouth Dominio's Pizza (which they're eating!) and ''CodeGeass''.

* BadAss: Apparently, the story seems to be trying to make Sean one. [[spoiler: He pretty much becomes one by Episode 15.]]
** BadassCrew: The Rangers as a whole.
** BadassNormal: [[spoiler: Toji-san, the Miyazawa bodyguard easily takes out some Swabots to rescue Shingo in Episode 15. Daisuke is also an example after he gives up his powers.]]

* DangerouslyGenreSavvy: The Zordonians are starting to learn from the Rangers.

* DangerouslyGenreSavvy: The elves are starting look like they've studied the Rangers' fights, when Arquen [[BigDamnVillains jumps in and stops the Rangers from activating their]] FinishingMove. Even Ragnar had flashes of that in the previous episode.

* OutsideContextVillain: The Zordonians not so much, but the elves and Ouroboros Society are this to the Rangers. The Ouroboros Society is the best example though, because their motives are still unclear. The elves were like this, coming out of nowhere to knock the Rangers out of their HappyEnding and having very vague motives as well.

* {{Camp}}: The author is obviously inspired by ''[[Series/PowerRangersRPM RPM]]'' and ''Film/TheDarkKnightSaga''. Any Camp is either downplayed, mocked, [[TakeThat blasted]], deconstructed or done in a Gurren Lagann-style awesomemness.
