* DemotedToExtra: Due to being in Class 1-B this time around, Todoroki, Mineta, Sero, Sato, Aoyama, Ojiro, and Shoji get much less focus. Despite being in that class as well, Bakugo ''barely'' averts this trope, as he still gets a decent amount of focus. [[spoiler:Though he ultimately plays this straight as of Chapter 10, as WordOfGod states that his role in the story comes at the end with [[PutOnABus his expulsion and his subsequent acceptance of taking rehabilitation at Ketsubutsu]], although he gets his own side-story to reveal what's happening with him.]] Todoroki is slowly slipping out of this as he becomes friends with Izuku. Mineta being this is why the girls of canon 1-B are {{AscendedExtra}}s.

** All Might will never be allowed to forget how he gave One for All to Izuku.

* XDaysSince: 1-A has a "X Days Since 1-A Had Villain Trouble" sign. Current record is seven days.

** Boro, the hero Mina and Setsuna confront in Chapter 68, is one to Film/{{Robocop}}.

** The Bond Quirk user, Hitoshi Marubashi. He doesn't appear at all (until a Quirk induced flashback in ch 31), but him being the Stockpile Quirk user's lover leads to Bond getting absorbed by Stockpile before All for One forced the latter in Yoichi Shigaraki, which causes One for All to hit singularity a few months ahead of schedule. This lets Izuku learn of One for All's true nature sooner and gives him access to the Torchbearers' vestiges, letting him come up with Full Cowl and the previous Bearers' Quirks months sooner than canon.

** [[spoiler: Dr. Garaki doesn't even remember which of his grandchildren he used to create the winged Nomu. He only barely remembers Izuku, if only because he was born Quirkless.]]

* DeadlyEuphemism: People unfortunate enough to be on the receiving end of Nezu's wrath are said to have been subjected to an "unpleasantness". The first victims of this were [[AnimalTesting the scientists who experimented on him]], and [[NotEnoughToBury only pieces of them were ever found]]. In different continents.

* DeathByAdaptation: [[spoiler:Overhaul is murdered by All for One shortly after his arrest.]] [[DefiantToTheEnd All for One doesn't come out of it unscathed, though, as Overhaul wrecked All for One's hands to the point Mugen couldn't use the stolen Overhaul Quirk.]]

** Monoma attempts to copy Izuku's Quirk even after he gets warned that Izuku broke himself the first time he used it. He manages to copy it - and it turns out that, since it's a stockpile Quirk, he's essentially getting a blank. Monoma only has the time to utter an OhCrap comment (by saying "Errors have been made") before Izuku tosses him out of the ring.

* EnlightenedSelfInterest: After Izuku publicly calls out Detrenat Industries for how they refuse to make any products for Quirkless people, several companies realize that there's an entire demographic they've been ignoring and reach out to a company that run by Quirkless people so they can take advantage of the unexploited market.

* EvilCannotComprehendGood: Menagerie only sees the animals from Kuraudo Island in terms of the money he could make from selling them, not caring about them at all.

* ExplainExplainOhCrap: [[spoiler: When talking to Shigaraki at the mall Izuku states that part of his regular attire includes custom red shoes for the extra toe joint in quirkless individuals. He then realizes what that means for Shigaraki.]]

* TriangRelations: As of chapter 49, a Type 7 without the affair forms between Denki, Kyoka, and Itsuka: Denki and Itsuka are both attracted to Kyoka, but not to each other.

** WordOfGod says that when [[spoiler: Izuku transferred Search back to Ragdoll it reset for both people. Due to this Dr. Garaki and the rest of the league of Villians aren't captured right away and are still active players.]]

* MundaneUtility: Izuku and the others realize telepathy is great for holding a conversation while eating without appearing rude.

** A combat exercise between members of 1-A and 1-B acts as one for Mineta and Bakugo to see if they've learned from their time on probation. Both fail, Mineta by groping Momo and Bakugo by using a lethal attack against Ochako.

* StatingTheSimpleSolution: None of the Vestiges know why One for All hit singularity a few hours after Izuku inherited it as opposed to several months, or how it has a Quirk that allows the user to form empathic bonds with others - which none of the others had. When learning about the nature of One For All and how All For One actively kept the Stockpile Quirk away from his own Quirk so it wouldn't get absorbed, Izuku hypothesizes that Stockpile may have accidentally absorbed an empathy Quirk without All for One's knowledge. The vestiges admit that such an answer is quite likely. [[spoiler:Then it turns out that the person with the empathy Quirk ''was lovers'' with the person with the stockpiling Quirk, so it had been added to the stockpile already, in a way.]]

** All the Class 1-B girls and Tetsutetsu are in 1-A now, meaning that they get more focus than in canon.

** Izuku's main tactic for the Sports Festival's first round is to fly over all the obstacles.

* BulletTime: When Bakugo is about to use his grenade attack on Ochako, the bond between her and Izuku levels up and lets her move incredibly fast for a few seconds, enough to dodge the attack and throw Bakugo out of the ring.

** Bakugou confronting Izuku and the teachers not doing anything to protect the latter is all caught on tape by another student, and ''uploaded on to the Internet''. Nezu discovers the video and shares it with his staff and they all realize Bakugou is going to be a problem. Nezu also begins investigating Aldera Middle School to uncover any other crimes they might be hiding.
** Similarly, Mineta is caught groping Momo by the U.A. security cameras during the test/spar Nezu set up for the First Year students.

** When Bakugo tries to attack Izuku after the Entrance Exam results are released, there's a mention of another student filming everything with his mobile phone. During the teachers' meeting to decide where each Hero Student goes, Nezu shows the teachers that same video to ensure Izuku and Bakugo are kept in different classes.

** When Shigaraki recruits the Shie Hassaikai, there's a mention of the Quirk-erasing bullets Overhaul was creating. [[spoiler:During the attack at the Summer Camp, Chronostasis shoots Izuku with one to capture him for All for One.]]

** In a more PlayedForLaughs way, Izuku is the only one not affected by Ochako's ClusterFBomb beatdown on Bakugo due to growing up with the [[SirSwearsALot latter]] and hearing the former curse once before.

** Chapter 7 opens with Izuku, Momo, and Ochako getting costume upgrades. Ochako gets new boots based more on actual astronaut boots, with a gyroscope and a jet system to propel herself, but only because Mei had decided to make them out of her own will (inspired by an idea the bond gave her) since Ochako had not made a request. Izuku gets his Gamma costume ''much'' earlier than in canon, but the respirator has a noise-canceling function added to allow him to filter his mumbling. Momo's new costume gets described as a hybrid of Setsuna's bodysuit in red and some of the armored pieces from Mirio's costume, with the utility belt solely for emergency food to fuel her Quirk, a wrist-mounted computer, and a visor with a built-in HUD.

*** Izuku and Momo vs Tokoyami and Itsuka in the former's favor.

** The USJ turns into this, even though Shigaraki brought ''four'' Nomu with him instead of just one because All Might was present from the start and Hound Dog is also present, the teachers arrive a lot sooner thanks to Izuku pressing his panic button and the students end up getting paired in groups with great power synergy and/or sent to places where their abilities become very useful. The worst injuries are Aizawa getting a broken arm and leg and Izuku suffering some fractures from pushing One for All too far.

*** He also throws Shinso out of the ring a second after the fight begins.

** [[spoiler:When Wolfram's group try to infiltrate the I-Expo, they're met by Star and Stripe.]]

** Discussed and Downplayed. When Ibara says it is somewhat admirable that Kaminari can keep his perversions in check, Kyouka says that it's an extremely low bar to clear. Setsuna for her part chimes in and concedes that while it's true the bar is low, too many men fail to clear it, which results in Kyouka deciding that yes, this is ultimately a point in Kaminari's favor.

** Another example happens when Inko tells Aizawa that he's the best teacher Izuku ever had. Since most of Izuku's previous teachers are now behind bars, Aizawa doesn't consider it much of a compliment.

This causes Momo to admit that she hadn't considered things properly. Izuku also points out that the shelf on her back is a potential health risk.
** Despite knowing he's on probation, Bakugo still uses his gauntlets against Ochako even after All Might orders him not to do it since such an attack would be lethal. After Ochako manages to dodge and beat him anyway, Vlad King announces that he's expelled.

** Izuku combines Float and One for All to easily win the first event of the Sports Festival, even after he doubles back to help the others get through the robots and explodes part of the minefield.

*** The Second and Third holders are livid enough after hearing about Endeavor's bullshit that they want to straight out ''kill'' him. They are quite pleased with Izuku's plan to ruin the man, though.

** Both Izuku and Tsuyu immediately enter TranquilFury upon learning that Toru's hero costume doesn't incorporate DNA-encoded material, that she's genuinely naked and that apparently ''no one'' even bothered to suggest the idea.

** Nezu reassures Mineta's mother that Momo has been "penalized for her first-time use of excessive force against a classmate". Said penalty amounted to telling her "Don't do it again".

* FalseReassurance: U.A.'s staff tell the First Year Hero Course Students that they are doing their joint training to see if they're ready for the Sports Festival and work on any weak points that become apparent as a result, and cite Mirio's WardrobeMalfunction as a reason why they're doing this. None of this is false, but it works in hiding that the main reason for the joint training is to test Bakugou and Mineta before they have a chance to embarrass the school on live television.

** Izuku was treated very badly for most of his life due to his lack of a Quirk. This is shown when kids in his middle school would actively harass him in front of teachers who would do nothing to stop it despite it being their jobs, and it is later mentioned that students left red spider lilies on his desk multiple times[[labelnote:*]]Red spider lilies are a symbol of rebirth in Japan and are normally left at the desk of a dead classmate to mourn them - leaving them on the desk of a still-living classmate is basically telling them you wish they were dead[[/labelnote]]. It isn't until Izuku first manifests Full Cowl in class that a teacher stops Bakugo from attacking him.

* {{Fingore}}: Snipe removes Tomura's right pointer finger with a bullet. It's later revealed that because of this Shigaraki's Decay has a 10-25% chance of failing now when he uses his right hand.

** Izuku ''nearly'' does it when Mei drags him so they can "make some babies together" (i.e. build support items).

** Bakugo when he's told he's legally a villain.

** Izuku when Yui says people think he was fighting Quirkless against Todoroki.

** [[spoiler:All For One after All Might reveals that he already knows that Tomura Shigaraki is Tenko Shimura.]]

** After Nezu finds out the truth about Bakugo, he personally redoes all their background checks on the students and discovers that Mineta has a history of sexual harassment that was scrubbed clean by his connections. Since ''officially'' he has no record and his mother is on U.A.'s school board, they cannot simply deny his enrollment, but they ''can'' take precautions to protect their female students from him. This leads to Mineta also being placed in Class 1-B and Class 1-A having all the girls in one class with Izuku, Tenya, Kaminari, Kirishima, Koda, Tokoyami, and Tetsutetsu.

** Izuku catching Shigaraki in the act of stealing the class schedules results in several changes. Firstly, U.A.'s staff provides him with a panic button so that he can warn them the next time his Danger Sense goes off, which in turn lets U.A. staff know immediately when the USJ is attacked. Secondly, U.A., knowing an attack is coming, take precautions and so were already prepared for the USJ attack, with Hound Dog accompanying the students and All Might not using his limited time in stopping petty crime. Thirdly, because the League of Villains realizes the second point, they bring additional Nomu when they finally do launch their attack. And fourthly, Izuku reporting on Shigaraki's Quirk being a five-point touch Quirk causes Snipe to aim and shoot off one of Shigaraki's fingers, making him less able to use it.
** Out of concern that Bakugou and Mineta may cause them bad press at the Sports Festival, Nezu arranges a joint training between Classes 1-A and 1-B to test the two before they have a chance to cause them a P.R. disaster. The staff justify it to their students by citing Mirio's WardrobeMalfunction that caused him to flash everyone watching as a cover for the real reason they are doing this. As a consequence of their behavior during their fights with Ochako and Momo respectively, Bakugo and Mineta are expelled.

*** Izuku's first fight is against Monoma instead of Shinso (who fights Momo).

** Due to a combination of Bakugo not being in Class 1-A, Izuku not trying to downplay Bakugo's abrasive attitude, and the Bonding Quirk ''clearly'' conveying how much Izuku hates being called "Deku", Ochako never redefines it for him, leaving it out of the running as a potential hero name.

** Due to Izuku having access to Blackwhip ''before'' [[spoiler:the Shie Hassaikai arc starts, Overhaul gets captured before the raid can even happen]].
** As David Shield learns about One for All and that All Might has picked Izuku as his successor before the internships, [[spoiler:he scraps the plan to get the Quirk Amplification Device to All Might, fires Sam and warns the island about Wolfram's arrival, which leads to the latter's arrest and the derailing of the ''Anime/MyHeroAcademiaTwoHeroes'' plot]].

** [[spoiler:Izuku getting Search allows him to find the last few civilians still in Kamino, and Diagnosis and Overhaul let him heal all the injured heroes, which allows All Might to go full out sooner.]]

* TheFriendNobodyLikes: The rest of Class 1-B dislikes Bakugou because of his abrasive nature and being so big of a jerkass he outright refuses to remember their names, telling them ''to their faces'' they don't deserve to have names. The only reason they put up with him at all is because they're classmates and they literally have no choice in the matter and even then, they distance themselves from him as much as they can. Being revealed later to be TheBully only makes it worse, and most of them are glad to see him off after he gets expelled.

* HeartIsAnAwesomePower: On its own, Quirk Understanding gives someone the power [[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin to understand their own quirk]], making it completely worthless. But in individuals with multiple quirks, it can be used to understand the limitations and uses of any other quirk the person has, including the possible effects and synergies the combination of different Quirks can have. All For One prized it for exactly that reason.

** An instance of PlayedForLaughs. Ochako ends up reminding Izuku that she was "raised by construction workers" by swearing up a creative storm after seeing the restaurant that Momo insisted on treating the class to eat at after their first day of school.

* HourglassPlot: Because of bigoted Quirkist supremacists, in Aldera Middle School and previous schools, Bakugou is the popular kid for having a powerful, flashy, "heroic" Quirk while Izuku was at the bottom of the social ladder because of his Quirklessness. At U.A., with zero tolerance for bigotry from teachers ''and'' students, Izuku is the popular kid for his heroic nature while Bakugou is at the near bottom of the social order because of his appalling personality.

** Tsuyu acknowledges her hypocrisy when, after learning how bad Izuku had it in his school, she asks for names, right after telling Izuku she won't tell him the names of the boys who stood her up.

** [[spoiler:All for One and Dabi]] freak out when other people reveal they know their true names, [[spoiler:Mugen Shigaraki and Touya Todoroki]].

** Izuku still saves Ochako from the Zero Pointer and gets saved in return by her before he hits the ground.

** Despite being on probation, Bakugo still has his grenade gauntlets as part of his hero costume. Lampshaded by All Might, who wondered who the hell allowed a student on probation with a very aggressive personality to have gear with the potential to ''kill''. WordOfGod is that Nezu let him have them as a test of his self-control.
** The USJ attack still happens despite Izuku catching Shigaraki stealing some documents from U.A.
** Todoroki still spills his family situation to Izuku during the Sports Festival. This time, though, Nezu caught his testimony on tape since he was already investigating Endeavor and Toru was the one that overheard it instead of Bakugo.

** [[spoiler:Ragdoll still gets abducted so All For One can steal her Search Quirk.]]

** [[spoiler:Endeavor reveals his terrible treatment of his family to the public in Chapter 40.]]

** [[spoiler:Two of the Quirks Izuku manages to steal from All for One are the ones the villain intended to force into him after taking One for All.]]

** First thing Izuku sees when entering Classroom 1-A? Tenya chastising a classmate for putting up their feet on a desk and telling them to remove them.

** When Bakugo uses his grenade gauntlets for the first time, All Might warns him not to use the attack since it could be lethal, only for Bakugo to reply that his target will be fine as long as they dodge.

** All the girls of the canon Class 1-B along with Tetsutetsu appear in chapter three due to the reworked classes.

* ATasteOfTheirOwnMedicine: [[spoiler:All for One gets this when Izuku, the Vestiges and the Ennead are able to steal or destroy several of the Quirks he has stolen throughout the years.]]

** Melissa Shield is Izuku's sixth bond and seeks to transfer to U.A., ensuring she'll be around a lot more.
