* There are many stories which involve Asuka traveling back to Germany, either as the focus of the work or as a side plot in a larger story. There's very wide variability in who (if anyone) goes with her, how long she stays there, how voluntary it is on her part and how well she gets along with her father and stepmother. Her family is almost universally portrayed as at least comfortably well-off, and frequently is said to be extremely wealthy.

* Scary ending?
Ok this is from a new fan who hasn’t seen end of Evangelion or rebuild. Or played the video games or spinoffs. I just finished the series on Netflix
Everyone says “I’m traumatized from the ending”. At first I don’t get the show. And just had it on as background noise. But the deep lore and deconstruction of gundam made me pay more attention. Then I looked up the series and learning about Anno and his struggles with depression made the whole series make sense. Then the last episode comes about and to me it seems Shinji makes his first steps to recovery, the angels having a hive mind decide to give up attacking humanity. And Gendo and the council are ousted by Misato.
How is this anything but a happy ending. Sure it’s surreal and abstract. But in the end the story is positive and encourages people to change there attitude to help them in life? Why does everyone see it as negative/ scary?
