* Fans of Disney's HighSchoolMusical have been shipping Chad and Ryan ever since the second movie had them sing a song featuring a good number of innuendos (including, but not limited to: Ryan's "You'll never know if you never try" and Chad's "I'll show you how I swing") while holding onto a phallic object (a baseball bat, seeing as they were playing baseball, a game with terms that commonly serve as metaphors for sex) and then having them wear each other's clothes afterwards with no explanations. The fact that Chad is in a (albeit very casual) relationship with Taylor and Ryan eventually finds a love interest in Kelsi in the third movie has not deterred shippers the slightest. But in the case of Captain America, Steve/Bucky tends to heavily rival, if not eclipse, Steve/Peggy and Steve/Tony in many fan circles. Which makes sense -- Steve's relationship with Bucky is arguably the biggest overarching theme of his

** Film/2012 also gives us the heavily-hinted but not outright canon ship of Black Widow/Hawkeye. Unfortunately

** Inverted. Although the movie hasn't even come out yet, pre-release implications that Bruce Banner and Black Widow would become a couple have been met with fairly unanimous disapproval and mockery from the fanbase, with both shippers and nonshippers accusing the two of being StrangledByTheRedString. Time will tell whether fan opinion is premature or whether it will upgrade to a straight example or at least a BrokenBase, but the initial reaction combined with the
fact on AO3that Bruce was already one of the least popular partners for Black Widow despite her LauncherOfAThousandShips status indicates a rather steep uphill battle for approval.
** Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch is currently starting to be shipped with two people: Clint Barton and Steve Rogers. The first for the use of AllLoveIsUnrequited and giving her an epic speech, and the second for supporting and helping the twins and being... Steve Rogers.
** Possibly as popular as the above would be Wanda/Vision, for all the ShipTease, and the added bonus of them being a couple in the comics.

* Ryan and Natalie from Film/UpInTheAir, mostly due to the fact that in the final act it's revealed Ryan's love interest, Alex, .
* Fans of Film/AnEducation like to pair Jenny with Danny, especially since her love interest in the film .
* Mary Poppins and Bert are this in Film/MaryPoppins, in large part due to Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke's chemistry. It is even implied to be made canon in the Broadway Musical when .
* Film/Maleficent and Diaval become popular almost as soon as the film was released. If you have the VillainProtagonist and her Dragon act LikeAnOldMarriedCouple and practically raise a child together, then you can expect the fans to start shipping them. The fact that the film makers originally planned on them being an actual couple just adds fuel to the fire.
** Or, for those who like LesYay, there's shipping Maleficent with said child, Aurora, in a similar vein to the FanPreferredCouple of Disney/Frozen, Anna/Elsa.
* Fans of Film/KickAss tend to prefer shipping Dave/Kick-Ass with Mindy/Hit-Girl, instead of his official love interest Katie. The sequel panders to this by making Katie into a cheating bitch out of nowhere, and featuring a kiss between Dave and Mindy at the film's end.
* BillAndTed has, well, [=Bill/Ted=]. The fact that their actual girlfriends qualify as Satellite Love Interests helps.
* Film/AvengersAgeOfUltron:
Time will tell whether fan opinion is premature or whether it will upgrade to a straight example or at least a BrokenBase, but the initial reaction combined with the fact that Bruce was already one of the least popular partners for Black Widow despite her LauncherOfAThousandShips status indicates a rather steep uphill battle for approval.
* By far, the most popular pairing in Film/KingsmanTheSecretService fanfic is Harry/Eggsy. Despite the fact that [[spoiler: Harry was believed to have died. The sequel hints that's not true.]]
* While nothing actually happens in Film/SchoolOfRock, a lot of people like to imagine that Dewey and Ms Mullins dated after the Battle of the Bands. This is mainly brought on by the bar scene, where Dewey is able to get her to let her hair down a little.
* In the film adaptation of Film/TheHobbit, the most popular ship among fans is Thorin/Bilbo. Runner ups for the two, individually, are Bofur/Bilbo and Dwalin/Thorin and Thranduil/Thorin.
** There are actually quite a few ships that are popular among the fans, and with many different characters, including Thranduil/Bard, Fili/Kili, Kili/Tauriel, Dwalin/Ori, Dwalin/Nori, to name a few.

* Fans of Disney's HighSchoolMusical have been shipping Chad and Ryan ever since the second movie had them sing a song featuring a good number of innuendos (including, but not limited to: Ryan's "You'll never know if you never try" and Chad's "I'll show you how I swing") and then having them wear each other's clothes afterwards with no explanations. The fact that Chad is in a (albeit very casual) relationship with Taylor and Ryan eventually finds a love interest in Kelsi in the third movie has not deterred shippers the slightest. Justified because the Chad/Taylor and Ryan/Kelsi relationships seem too convenient, and Chad and Ryan did have a lot more chemistry with each other during that dance number than with their respective girlfriends.

** Interestingly, Chad/Ryan also seem to be more popular than series OfficialCouple Troy/Gabriella, with the amount of fanfiction for Chad/Ryan far surpassing that for Troy/Gabriella. over four times as many in fact on AO3

*** When the film came out, it did not take long for fans to start shipping Kylo Ren with Rey. Fans were intrigued by the characters' intense interactions, considering them to be much more interesting and ripe with possibilities than the potential for a Rey/Finn romance. The fact that it is strongly suggested that Kylo Ren has a VillainousCrush on Rey--he bridal carries her, watches her sleep and even volunteers to be her teacher--only added fuel to the fire. However, the ship is the source of a major BrokenBase, with many other fans disliking FoeYay or theorizing that they might end up being related.

*** Actually the ship was met with derision for pairing up the mass murderer who kidnapped the terrified Rey against her will. Holding her in an interrogation room helpless and in obvious terror while telling her he can take anything he wants. Attempting to force himself into her mind. Causing her obvious trauma and pain Only failing when she fought back with the force.Patricide Killing the nearest thing to a father figure in front of her, and his actual father. Slamming her into a tree and mortally wounding her best friend who tried to stop him. Funny enough the whole possible incest thing is the least problematic thing some fans have with that ship.
*** Funny enough, is not the aptly named Reylo who wins the fan favorite race in both amounts of fanart and fanfiction, but the practically non existent canon relationship between Kylo Ren and General Hux. It quite literally doubles the amount of works on Archive of our Own for the first one, and keeps winning momentum. See here and here. It doesn't help that Reylo has been branded as abusive and problematic in many parts of the fandom, creating a massive backlash against it.

* There was a good amount of fans shipping Gandalf and Galadriel from Lord of the Rings but then that one scene from the Hobbit blew it up. The other movies and the RL relationship between the actors that played them do nothing but fuel the fire.
