* GetAHoldOfYourselfMan: In ''Revenge'', when Gaz finds out that [[spoiler: Iggins']] obsession with her is partly inspired by lust, she has a brief BSOD and starts blaming herself for the whole situation. Fortunately, Zim snaps her out of it by pointing out that it's [[spoiler: Iggins']] fault, not hers, and that she's too {{Badass}} to be angsting like that.

*** And in any case, he's only temporarily assigned to Earth to aid Zim in the initial conquest; once the planet is under Zim's control, he returns to Irk.

*** [[spoiler: According to the series' epilogue, they eventually join Zim's army and are made co-heads of his Intelligence department, which deals with the constant rebellions, so they could probably qualify as his Dragons once Skoodge leaves.]]

** The Swollen Eyeballs also have no intention of giving up.

* {{Elite Zombie}}s: Zim raises a zombie army to conquer Earth with, but unlike zombies shown in the show's canon (stupid, useless things), these are intelligent, competent beings who loyally serve Zim.
** Edit: Zim didn't raise anything; these "zombies" are the militaries of the world, which have been converted and brainwashed to serve Zim.
*** And as it turns out, the zombie appearance is just a temporary side effect of whatever process Zim used to brainwash them.

* HannibalLecture / TheReasonYouSuckSpeech: Gaz gives a brief one to Dib in ''Takeover'' when he interrupts her wedding to "save" her from Zim. She points out how, even though Zim's taken over the world, he hasn't destroyed it or made things worse, so defeating Zim wouldn't really change anything. She then adds that "saving" her is just an excuse to strike a blow at Zim, and calls him out for treating her like a prize.

* LockedOutOfTheLoop: Poor Dib keeps ending up on the receiving end of this, since Gaz and Zim don't want him involved in what they view as their private business (the LEECHY in ''Hostage'', [[spoiler: Iggins']] vendetta in ''Revenge''). He's never happy when he finds out.

* ScheduleSlip: The stories get updated almost every day, but occasionally it takes a little while longer (mind you, compared to most stories on FFN, it's hardly that much of a wait).

* WhatCouldHaveBeen: Following the conclusion of ''Takeover'', the author posted a bonus chapter containing scenes that were removed from or altered for the series.

* VillainousCrush: Gender-flipped: [[spoiler: Iggins]] has a thing for Gaz; in the long run, this actually makes him worse, since his obsession leads to [[spoiler: brainwashing her]] with the intention of making her his slave.

** It's a cultural thing. Irkens don't prevent their smeets from being born, giving them a chance to prove their competence/stupidity before killing them. Thankfully the author does not spend much time on this point beyond the culture explanation.

* TheAgeless: [[spoiler: After their marriage -- and being given permission by the Tallest -- Zim gives Gaz a chemical formula (the Pill) which halts her aging process, and boosts her immune system beyond human standards, so she can live as long as him[[hottip:*: Apparently, this is common for Irkens who take non-Irken mates]]]]. Notably, this comes with a warning about [[WhoWantsToLiveForever outliving your loved ones]], but it's ignored.

* BadassAbnormal: Gaz was already a badass, but a side effect of [[spoiler: Iggins' MindControlDevice]] gives her [[PlayingWithFire pyrokinetic abilities]].

* BadassNormal: Gaz starts out as this, before upgrading to BadassAbnormal at the end of ''Revenge''. [[spoiler: Then she [[IncrediblyLamePun burns]] through her powers at the end of ''Takeover'', bringing her back down to (badass) normal.]]

* AntiHero: Zim and Gaz are either [[SlidingScaleOfAntiHeroes Type IV or V]]... until ''Takeover'', when they jump straight into VillainProtagonist territory.

* KickTheSonOfABitch: What Gaz does to [[spoiler: Iggins]] would be a MoralEventHorizon, but he was a CompleteMonster, so he had it coming.

* LightIsNotGood: When captured by the Valkians, Gaz is forced to wear a white dress that, combined with her natural skin tone, makes her look like "some kind of moon beam". Considering [[HeroicSociopath who we're talking about]], it's quite misleading. And she ''hates'' it.

* VillainProtagonist: Zim, naturally enough. Gaz starts off as more of an AntiVillain or an [[AntiHero Anti-Heroic]] [[HeroicSociopath Sociopath]], but in ''Takeover'' she seamlessly becomes a full villain to help Zim conquer the planet.

* WeCouldHaveAvoidedAllThis: Dib spends a good portion of ''Takeover'' convinced that his sister's a heartless bitch who only turned on Earth due to boredom and/or anger at someone, all because she didn't tell him about Zim's time limit. Of course, this might be an aversion or subversion, since most likely Dib still would have been dragged into the resistance against Zim.

* HeroicWillpower: While not exactly a "[[HeroicSociopath he]][[AntiHero ro]]", Gaz manages to break free of [[spoiler: Iggins']] mind control through sheer force of will (though Zim's [[ThePowerOfLove support]] helps).
