The Chapter 45 notes state that [[spoiler:Garon, Ryoma, Gunter, Nyx, and even Corrin]] would've died during the story.

And it can all be ruined by the slightest change in the target's behavior. Kagero prefers to have at least one month to prepare, and even then it's still quite risky.

* DontMakeMeDestroyYou: Corrin begs for the Chevois to surrender peacefully, having learned the hard way [[KillEmAll what the alternative is]].

* WeaponOfChoice: Unlike the original game, where Ganglari was supposed to kill [[spoiler:Mikoto]] by exploding in her face, this story has it simply stab her in the gut. Corrin chooses to keep it out of sentiment, as a gift from her father, and Yato, if it exists, never makes its way into her hands.

** Garon describes being the king of a barren, poverty-ridden nation as an endless line of these.

* SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome: Getting a TapOnTheHead is ''far'' from harmless. Azura not only vomits and has trouble standing after being knocked out, but also suffers episodes of delirium and disorientation afterwards.

* SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome: The author is particularly fond of this brand of drama/comedy (mostly drama).
** Everyone in Silas' original squad thought he was pretty silly for wearing heavy plate armor all the time. Except for when they were ambushed by archers. That armor became pretty useful right then, and the rest of them probably spent their last moments wishing they had the same foresight.
** On the other hand, while armor is great, it won't protect you when you turn your back to a guy with a tome that shoots out fire. As Corrin found out the hard way.
** Subaki, Hana, you get an A for effort. But it doesn't really matter how skilled you are, you are not skilled enough to take on 20+ bandits and expect to get out of that okay.
** Tearing through the local bureaucracy and racial prejudices of the lords is a great way to curry favor with the audience as a ReasonableAuthorityFigure, but as Yukimura later points out, Ryoma's strategy wasn't exactly good for long term war, as proven when [[spoiler:those lords that he dismissed or outright threatened proved that he needed them far more than they needed him]].
** In the April Fool's Day chapter, Corrin dies of alcohol poisoning or an STD before the story can begin due to her... ''[[HardDrinkingPartyGirl vicarious]]'' lifestyle.
** In the same chapter, when Xander murders Garon, Iago appears and points out that nobody will accept a man who just committed regicide as their king, and since the other "claimants" to the throne are all {{Heroic Bastard}}s and [[HappilyAdopted Corrin]], a succession crisis is almost certain.
** [[spoiler:Hinoka]] is killed anti-climatically and completely off screen, showing that anyone can end up dying with little fanfare.
** [[spoiler:Hans]] gets hit with this ''twice'' in the same incident.

** Scarlet's force is largely formed from the likes of fishermen with no real experience in battle, and only a small portion of remotely professional Hoshidan troops. Furthermore, the same land was just hit by the plague courtesy of Corrin's army. Naturally, the Nohrian regular army delivers a brutal CurbStompBattle.
** {{Chainmail Bikini}}s are not appropriate attire for military settings. Silas takes one look at Charlotte and orders her to PleasePutSomeClothesOn.
** Shapechangers such as Keaton destroy their clothes when they transform. After a sparring session with Benny, Keaton returns to human form completely naked.
** Getting a TapOnTheHead is ''far'' from harmless. Azura not only vomits and has trouble standing after being knocked out, but also suffers episodes of delirium and disorientation afterwards.

The main draw of the story is the removal of [[TheManBehindTheMan Anankos]] and Valla from the story completely. Everything tied to them undergoes a massive change as a result. Garon goes from OmnicidalManiac to WellIntentionedExtremist, Corrin goes from AllLovingHero to BloodKnight, and the story goes from a simpler plot to a dramatic, sometimes tear-jerking story.

** Due to the problem of people getting shunted to the side due to having LoadsAndLoadsOfCharacters, the author retroactively added scenes for other characters in older chapters, starting with one for Takumi in Chapter 34.

* ScrewTheRulesIHaveConnections: Corrin tells Niles that as a member of the royal family she could easily get away with killing him, and even convince her brother Leo to look the other way at her murdering one of his subordinates.

* ShedArmorGainSpeed: Xander removes most of his armor before his duel with Ryoma so he'll be able to dodge and move faster. Even after doing this he is still ''barely'' able to keep up.

* PutOnABus: Due to the original game having LotsAndLotsOfCharacters, there are a number of them that don't get to have screentime in the fic yet still have to be acknowledged as existing. As such, many of them get shoved to the side when they can't serve the main plot. [[SelfDeprecation The author lampshades and parodies it in their April Fools chapter.]]
