* Vicious, the BigBad of ''Anime/CowboyBebop'', lives up to his name in Episode 25 when he violently takes over leadership of the Red Dragon. The way he deals with one of the three leaders of TheSyndicate can be best summed up in these words: [[TearsOfBlood "You will shed tears of scarlet."]]
** In the first episode, Jet grabs a thug in a headlock and threatens to jab him in the eye with a broken beer bottle ([[HeyYouHaymaker after having smashed the thug's buddy in the face with the bottle]]). Also in that episode, after dropping his injector, Asimov attempts to squeeze the bottle carrying the drug he's been using directly into his eye only to shatter it, getting glass shards in his eye.

* ''Manga/SoulHunter'': [[BigBad Empress So Dakki]] requested a painter to draw a portrait of her. She ended up disliking it so much that she gouged his eyes out as punishment.

* During one battle in ''Anime/LegendOfGalacticHeroes'', several scenes depicting the brutality of war are shown. In one case, a man is killed by an explosion in his ship, and we are treated to a visual of his eyes boiling and subsequently bursting. Pleasant stuff.

* In an infamously disturbing scene from [[LightNovel/SwordArtOnline Sword Art Online]], [[spoiler: the HERO Kirito does this to the VILLAIN, Oberon AKA Nobuyuki Sugou. [[PayEvilUntoEvil In response to]] [[AttemptedRape Sugou’s DISGUSTING]] [[RapeIsASpecialKindOfEvil treatment of Asuna]], Kirito uses [[EleventhHourSuperpower his newly acquired Admin Privileges]] to [[BroughtDownToNormal strip Sugou of his cheating GM abilities]], [[CruelMercy offer him THE STRONGEST WEAPON IN THE GAME, knowing it won’t save him]], [[AnArmAndALeg hack off one of his hands]], [[HalfTheManHeUsedToBe slice his body in half]], [[ThereIsNoKillLikeOverkill and finally]] [[ImpaledWithExtremePrejudice tosses him up and impales him]] [[EyeScream THROUGH HIS EYE SOCKET!]] The final nail in the coffin was [[YourMindMakesItReal turning off the pain absorber, ensuring his real body felt every second of it without dying]]. * In ''Manga/DevilMan'' when the rave party members turn into demons after Ryo spills their blood, the first girl to transform has one of her eyeballs pop out of it's socket and wiggle around like a worm.

*** Narancia's backstory has him getting beaten up by the police, resulting in him getting an infection on his left eye, just like the eye infection that killed his mother. Luckily, Fugo finds him before it's to late and he's sent to the hospital by Bruno.

** [[spoiler:[[BigBad Madara Uchiha]]]] actually '''stabs out''' [[spoiler: his own brother]]'s eyes in order to [[spoiler: transplant them into his own eye sockets to counteract the effects of his DeadlyUpgrade]].

* In ''Manga/FairyTail'', part of Erza's backstory was that her right eye was lost after being beaten by her captors on the Tower of Heaven. She was given a magic artificial replacement, which comes in handy later when it helps her break free from being TakenForGranite.

** [[spoiler:Vice's little sister]] in ''Anime/MagicalGirlLyricalNanohaStrikers'' gets a [[StunGuns magical bullet]] in the eye, though it eventually gets better. LittleMissBadass Cinque wasn't quite as lucky. There's a reason she wears an [[EyepatchOfPower eyepatch]], and we get to see the incident when she lost her eye via flashback.

* In ''Manga/{{Gungrave}}'' Brandon Heat takes a bullet point-blank in his left eye, and is killed. He gets better... ish... when he is revived as the gunslinging techno-zombie Beyond the Grave. Although he still [[ScarsAreForever doesn't get his eye back]].

** ''Manga/VentoAureo'':

* ''[[Anime/NeonGenesisEvangelion End of Evangelion]]'' loves this. [[spoiler: Unit 02 takes a Lance of Longinus replica to the face, causing Asuka to have her left eye put out. Later, Shinji causes Instrumentality to fail by bursting through Lilith/Rei's eyeball with the Lance of Longinus after being absorbed through a vagina-eye in her forehead. Dead fucking serious.]]
** Also in the series itself: In the very first fight with the 3rd angel, Unit 01 gets shot repeatedly in the eye by the angel's laser at point blank range. The result? Unit 01 flies back about 100 yards and [[HighPressureBlood bleeds profusely]] out of both sides of its head where it was shot.
** In ''End of Evangelion'', during Asuka's "I don't want to die" bit, the viewer is treated with several flashing images including a picture of a decaying Asuka with a sewn-up mouth and maggots crawling out of her hollow eye sockets. Long story short Evangelion has a thing for horrifying people.

* ''Franchise/NeonGenesisEvangelion'': In both [[Anime/NeonGenesisEvangelion the original canon]] and ''Anime/RebuildOfEvangelion'', Asuka receives significant damage to her left eye: in the ''End of Evangelion'' film, she ends up with the eye damaged after [[spoiler:one of the Mass Produced EVAs toss a spear into the eye of EVA unit 2 and even when she comes back her eye is bandaged]] and in ''Rebuild'', [[spoiler:it's damaged during a failed EVA test and she sports an eyepatch for the remaining films]].

* ''Manga/DetectiveConan'':
** In the NonSerialMovie ''The Last Wizard of the Century'', the three murder victims are shot through their left eyes. [[spoiler: The killer, a DarkActionGirl named Seiran "Scorpion" Hoshi, does so because she's a descendant of Rasputin, whose post-RasputinianDeath body was found without its left eye. She attempts to do it to Conan, but his new bulletproof glasses save him. Oh, and one of the victims survived -- he was Kaito KID and he was wearing a special HighClassGlass.]]
** Inspector Kansuke Yamato, the local HandicappedBadass, both lost his left eye (which he keeps permanently closed, [[ScarsAreForever thanks to two big scars on it]]) ''and'' got a huge injury on his leg in [[SnowMeansDeath a snow avalanche]] that he ''barely'' survived to.
** Superintendent Kiyonaga Matsumoto sports a LARGE scar across his left eye, meaning he was subjected to this in the past. ** One of the VERY few hints about the NumberTwo of the Black Organization's identity is that they lack an eye. ** Backstory-wise, Admiral Fujitora's blindness was apparently self-inflicted (he had seen so many horrible things in the world he didn't want any more of it), and judging by the scars he either sliced his eyes off or actively clawed them out.

* The villain of ''Manga/HunterXHunter'': [[NonSerialMovie Phantom Rogue]] steals human eyes for his collection of dolls. He does this through nen, so there's no blood, and only dolls or (briefly) corpses are shown with empty sockets, but the way his power creeps into a victim's eyes is clearly meant to evoke this. Plus, the idea that one [[spoiler:(later two)]] of the main characters spends the entire movie wandering around with their eyes plucked out is very unsettling.

* Eye trauma is a mainstay in the manga by Creator/SuehiroMaruo: people are blinded (sometimes self inflicted, always bloodily) with anything from needles to katana; eyeballs are dug out of their sockets with spoon and fork. On a more gentle side, licking of eyeballs during sexual acts is his trademark.

** Also, episode 15 finally reveals just how Nice Holystone got that eye-patch of hers first-hand. [[{{Squick}} It's as hard to watch as you'd think.]]

* ''LightNovel/BakaAndTestSummonTheBeasts'': [[BeachEpisode episode 6]]. Poor, poor Yuuji. Shouko does not want Yuuji looking at other girls so she does this… three times; the only word for this is "ouch."

** And at the end of episode 8 [[spoiler: it appears that Hannah stabs out Alois's left eye as well.]]
** In episode 9, a boy goes around stabbing out the eyes of several young boys.

** And in chapter 450 of the manga, [[spoiler: Ginjo seriously injures Ichigo's eyes during their fight.]] Lampshaded by the chapter's name "Blind Solitude". Though [[spoiler: Ichigo]] gets better in the following chapters.

** In chapter 569, Byakuya quickly shreds [[spoiler:As Nodt's [[TheWallsHaveEyes wall of eyes]] to prevent his DeadlyGaze from working on him.]]

** Also just barely subverted in episode 7, where [[spoiler: Yuu ''considers'' doing this to a guy he fights]], though there's still an extended shot of him holding a skewer over the guy's eye.

** In episode 5 of ''Anime/BloodC'', Saya fights an [[EldritchAbomination Elder Bairn]] that has ''an eyeball'' for a head, which leads to this. And in the end of Episode 12, [[spoiler: BigBad Fumito blasts Saya in her left eye, also blowing off quite a part of her head. Good thing that Saya has a massive HealingFactor and thus lives to tell, but it still takes her a while to heal; in the meantime, she rips her skirt and uses the piece of cloth as an EyepatchOfPower]].

* The light novel series ''LightNovel/{{Durarara}}'', depicts Erika and Walker torturing a man by imitating a scene from ''Manga/BlackButler'', by branding his eye. It's a very disturbing reveal of just ''how devoted'' they are to their anime and manga - although they're also quick to note that if it wasn't anime and manga, it would be something else that they would take their inspiration from. In the anime, it's PlayedForLaughs, by just seeing comical struggling from outside the van, just barely skimming over how twisted these kids are.
** ''Durarara!!'' also features an Eye Scream moment when Awakusu executive Mizuki Akabayashi [[spoiler: rips his own right eye out with his fingers after his eye is slashed with Saika.]] Somehow, he not only doesn't die, he remains standing and continues talking to Sayaka Sonohara – [[spoiler: the ''person who slashed him'']] – as if it were nothing.

* In the chapter 94 of ''Manga/FullmetalAlchemist''... well, I'll let the quote tell the story.

** In chapter 99, Wrath's Ultimate Eye is punched out [[spoiler:by Ling in reaction to Fu's death]]. Even without it, he's still a fierce fighter.
** In chapter 108 [[spoiler: As Father loses control of "God" and his human body is destroyed, one of the last images of him shows one of his eyes popping out of the socket.]]

* ''Manga/IrisZero'', the main character, Toru [[AllOfTheOtherReindeer is frequently beaten up]] because he doesn't have an Iris power in a world where 99% of kids do. In chapter 12, Houjou attempts to [[spoiler: burn out Toru's eye with a cigarette because they are apparently useless.]] Luckily, Asahi [[BigDamnHeroes is able to intervene in time.]]

** In episode 63, Olivier Poplin hurls a hypodermic syringe straight into the eye of a Terraist doctor while he and his companions are trapped on Earth.

** And in chapter 81 or something like that, some random dude tears out one of his eyes, and then afterwards ''sits there smoking a cigarette with blood streaming down his face''.

** It is later revealed [[spoiler: in episode 7 of season 2 that Allelujah didn't lost his right eye, he was actually hit in the forehead and the reason he covered his right eye was because of the blood flowing. [[NotQuiteDead His Alter ego is just "sleeping"]].]]

* ''Manga/MyHeroAcademia'' manages to have an example that's PlayedForLaughs, thanks to AmusingInjuries: one chapter has resident perv Minoru trying to peek into the girls' locker room thanks to a hole in the wall. He gets stabbed ''right'' in the eye by Kyoka's earphone jacks for his trouble.

** The villain Muscular [[spoiler: killed the Water Hose pro-hero team during one of his past rampages, but [[DoNotGoDownGentle they didn't go down gently -]] they managed to take out Muscular's left eye, which he replaced with a cybernetic.]]

** In chapter 551, this is how [[spoiler: Itachi nullifies the Rinnegan's "shared vision" ability: By throwing kunai into the eyes of Nagato's summoned creatures.]]

** In chapter 590, in Itachi's memory after Shisui says Danzou stole his right eye, he literally takes out his other eye and gives it to Itachi to prevent Danzou from having it.

* Saitama of ''Webcomic/OnePunchMan'' defeated his first monster, a mutant crab man, by tying his necktie around the monster's eyestalk and pulling it out. Pretty gruesome already in the manga--in the anime, it ends up even worse, as Saitama ''pulls all of the monster's guts out via his eye socket'', resulting in a [[LudicrousGibs disgusting rain of entrails and bodily fluids that lasts a full ten seconds]].

* In chapter 96 of ''Manga/{{Psyren}}'' it's revealed why Grana has the EyepatchOfPower. [[spoiler: Miroku gouged it out in their fight as his finishing move]].

* In chapter 6 of ''Manga/SakuraGari'' after Dr. Katsuragi [[spoiler: rapes and tortures Masataka]] [[FinGore he sticks Masataka's hand into a pot of boiling tea]], yelling at him to "get away from Souma!" [[TheDogBitesBack In retaliation, Masataka throws the pot into Katsuragi's eyes]]; as the other covers his burned face, Masataka manages to escape to the Saiki household. The next time we se Katsuragi, [[TwoFaced half his face is covered in bandages]], including his left eye.

* Saiga Tatsumi of ''Anime/SpeedGrapher'' has a love for photography which develops into a sexual fetishism. While investigating a secret club where rich and influent people meet to fulfill their most perverted desires, he received a kiss from Kagura and developed the ability to explode whoever and whatever he photographs - Death by Photo. When using his powers his camera gains a black aura, while his right eye (it can be either, but he aims with his right) turns blood shot and the iris bright green while large veins protrude around it. Also, during his final battle with Suitengu, [[spoiler:he is ultimately unable to defeat Suitengu before going blind from overusing his power.]]

** Furuta attempts to gouge out Sasaki's/Kaneki's eyes with his thumbs in chapter 70.
** In chapter 74 of re [[spoiler: Arima thrusts IXA at Kaneki's eyes, and asks if this is what he wants.]]
* In ''Manga/TokyoTribe 2'', this happens to Renkon Chef in episode 6 when [[spoiler: Jadakings '''bites his eye off and spits it out.''']]
* In episode 17 of the ''VisualNovel/UminekoWhenTheyCry'' anime Jessica blames her aunt Eva for the death of Krauss and Natsuhi, her parents. Eva gets defensive and accuses Jessica and Battler of killing her son George. Jessica gets pissed off at Eva's accusation and yells "I'll kill you! I'll kill you!" at her. Eva gets scared and fires a shot from her rifle and the fire from the discharge injures Jessica's eyes.

* ''Manga/VinlandSaga'': As part of the [[http://mangafox.me/manga/vinland_saga/v12/c092/3.html carnage]] in chapter 92, a guy is shown with his eyes cut out; later on, another character gets [[http://mangafox.me/manga/vinland_saga/v12/c092/25.html stabbed]] in the eye, complete with fluid gushing out and his opponent ''digging his knuckle into the socket''.
