* Jimmy/Cindy shippers in ''JimmyNeutron'' do not approve of the existence of Betty, or in some cases April. Though, for what it's worth, ''Cindy'' doesn't exactly approve of Betty either. Made weirder because Betty made it clear she ''didn't'' have any romantic interest in Jimmy and basically told Cindy that she could have him.

* Suzy Johnson of ''PhineasAndFerb'' is an odd example of this because she is Jeremy's little sister. However, she's violently opposed to him dating Candace and tortures her at every opportunity, making her probably the least popular character among fans.

** Kevin/Gwen fans now perceive Charmcaster as getting in the way of their ship due to her seducing Kevin in her Alien Force debut episode. Michael Morningstar/Darkstar gets a similar reaction due to his constant flirtations toward "lovely Gwen". Sometimes there is no DieForOurShip, though, and Charmcaster and Darkstar wind up paired with each other instead.

*** Kevin/Gwen fans now perceive Charmcaster as getting in the way of their ship due to her seducing Kevin in her Alien Force debut episode. Michael Morningstar/Darkstar gets a similar reaction due to his constant flirtations toward "lovely Gwen". Sometimes there is no DieForOurShip, though, and Charmcaster and Darkstar wind up paired with each other instead.
*** Heck, some "Gwevin" fans still don't forgive Charmcaster even after her recent ''Ultimate Alien'' HeelFaceTurn because of "what she did to Kevin".....OK, [[DoubleStandard do you see a problem with this train of thought?]]

* Many [[HeyArnold Helga/Arnold]] shippers hate and despise Lila (and also Ruth and Summer) for Arnold's former crush on her throughout the last part of the series. Which is odd, because Lila did nothing but gently and repeatedly turn Arnold down, and even ''helped'' Helga kiss him after getting her to admit her crush. Granted, it ''has'' been said by WordOfGod that Lila is really [[PlayingHardToGet subconsciously stringing Arnold along]], and you get a taste of what Lila is really like beneath the false sweetness with Lulu, [[EvilTwin the evil cousin]] from [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wknZ7vtoxFc Arnold Visits Arnie]], but that still doesn't make her the Evil Bitch from Hell!

* ''CodeLyoko'''s Ulrich/Yumi shippers tend to take the flawed character aspects of alternate love interests Sissi (who is canonically outwardly annoying, but does show JerkWithAHeartOfGold depths) and William (a canonical StalkerWithACrush, but more dark than evil) and [[RonTheDeathEater exaggerate them beyond recognition]] until there's ''no'' way they could threaten their beloved ship. Or the writers save themselves the trouble and kill them off, or pair them with each other. If he is lucky, he will get paired off with Tabitha, Wanda, or Pietro. [[RonTheDeathEater But usually he is made a rapist and girlfriend beater in their fanwork]] to favor Kurt. But when Kurt got FanOfUnderdog Amanda Sefton as his girlfriend, she was generally respected and liked by fandom.
** Actually, Amanda does usually get a lot of flack by Kurtty fans simply because of her existence & is usually derailed as only liking Kurt for being different as a way to rebel against her parents & is loathed by Kitty, despite Kitty & Amanda apparently being friends (Evolution Tie-in issue #8 has Kitty tell Spyke how nice Amanda is).

*** A few Toph/Katara shippers are nasty to Aang in their fanfics, twisting him into a jealous asshole who just wants to hurt Toph for "stealing" Katara from him.

* Surprisingly, there's little to none of this immature behavior in JusticeLeague fandom, despite the LoveTriangle between [[FieryRedhead Shayera/Hawkgirl]], [[HotAmazon Mari/Vixen]] and [[GreenLantern John/Green Lantern]]. Maybe it's helped by how, yanno, the three ''act more or less like adults'' in canon about it? [[spoiler: Then again, it ''is'' also canon that Rex/Warhawk is Shayera and John's KidFromTheFuture, so maybe the GL/HG fans don't feel ''that'' threatened since they know Mari will be out of the picture later without any need to derail her.]]

** Actually, Amanda does usually get a lot of flack by Kurtty fans simply because of her existence & is usually derailed as only liking Kurt for being different as a way to rebel against her parents & is loathed by Kitty, despite Kitty & Amanda apparently being friends (Evolution Tie-in issue #8 has Kitty tell Spyke how nice Amanda is).
** Not so much as DERAILED as Flanderized. Avalanche did have some, minor abusive rapist qualities. He did have a tendency to grab Kitty's arm possesively if she wasn't responding to his demands and in the first episode they appeared in DID try to kill her. Not to mention some of his dialog in that episode die scream rapist (Halariously LAmpshaded in 'Evolution X Abridged' which, during the episode, has first 'actual episode dialog' appear at the bottom of the screen before changing to 'Lance Is a RAPIST' when he says an unusally agressive sounding AccidentalInuendo).

** Aang. Just Aang. Bashed by ALOT of shippers. Especially Zutara shippers.

** Mai: Good Lord, her treatment by most of the A:TLA FanDumb defines this trope. At first, most Zuko/Katara shippers were apathetic to little!Mai. Even when she came back, all grown up, in season 2 to help Azula pursue the Gaang, most Zutarians viewed her as just a slightly annoying side-character... until season 3 episode 1, when the audience first saw her make out with Zuko. Then Mai became the target of the great Zutarian FanDumb. As Mai and Zuko's canon [[VictoriousChildhoodFriend relationship]] blossomed, the Zutarian bashing only intensified. Katara was the character these fangirls identified with, and Zuko was the character these fangirls wanted to tap. When Mai moved in on the boy they wanted, the Zutarians hit her with everything they had, as if this had happened in real life.

** Aang: Since they can't kill off the KidHero, many [[PortmanteauCoupleName Zutara]] shippers make Aang so childish that he makes [[OuranHighSchoolHostClub Honey-sempai]] look like a man of deep ''gravitas''. The most rabid of these shippers go so far as to call him "Bryke's special little [[CanonSue Gary Stu]]" or "self-insert golden boy" for daring to get his happy ending with the girl he likes; DeviantArt and Livejournal are ''littered'' with angry rants and "intelligent" essays ''blasting'' the Aang/Katara pairing, taking AlternativeCharacterInterpretation to extremes by twisting Aang into a selfish little bastard who "only won Katara as a prize for being the Special Hero", accusing Kataang of being "creepy" or "sexist" and clinging to the rejected kiss scene in "The Ember Island Players" as "evidence" of this, ''completely'' discounting two and a half seasons of friendship and development.
*** Others assume Avatars must either be {{Celibate Hero}}es or else rapidly [[LoveMakesYouEvil became villainous]]. Until WordOfGod and a ''canon'' episode discredited this idea implicitly, this was one of the primary means of pushing Aang to the side; due to [[AllThereInTheManual ancillary material]], it was fiercely contested by [[PortmanteauCoupleName Kataang]] shippers during the long drought of new TV eps of 2007.

Then the [[AvatarTheLegendOfKorra planned sequel series]] had WordOfGod identifying Tenzin as Aang and Katara's ''son'', thus confirming that their relationship ''did'' last beyond the "teenage hormones" stage. Needless to say, this simple declaration set the Kataang vs. Zutara wars aflame again.

*** Some Zutara fans label Katara a CanonSue as well. So they decide to [[CharacterDerailment change a few things]] [[FixerSue about her]] and pair her with [[DracoInLeatherPants Zuko]]. This is always more realistic, more dramatic, darker, etc. Hey, [[HowIBecameYours didn't Jackie Diaz do this in her fancomic]]?

The show's version is quite [[WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds different.]]

* ''DannyPhantom'' had Samantha "Sam" Manson (the one Danny ended up with) as this early in the fandom; she was hated, despised, and bashed in fanfiction written by Danny fangirls who paired Danny with the writer's OriginalCharacter. To this day, the worst of those stories are still archived in {{Quizilla}}. However, the hate for Sam toned down when [[WellIntentionedExtremist Valerie]] [[FallenPrincess Gray]] went through, not only CharacterDevelopment, but also a GondorCallsForAid episode in which she and Danny become friends, and eventually ended up in a DatingCatwoman situation. Since then, Valerie has been despised by a large part of the fandom (even though they broke up because [[ItsNotYouItsMyEnemies Valerie didn't want to put Danny in danger]]) because they've secretly maintained romantic feelings for each other). It's not surprising to find a fanfic in which Sam is depressed over Danny and Valerie's relationship, and it turns out that Danny is only dating Valerie because he thinks Sam will never love him and never loved Valerie in the first place.

* In ''XMenEvolution'', though the hate against the {{Tsundere}} Jean Grey was a given because her "love rival" for Scott's affection was the {{wangst}}y {{Goth}} Rogue, there was a {{genderflip}}ped surprise.
