* Surprisingly, there's little to none of this immature behavior in JusticeLeague fandom, despite the LoveTriangle between [[FieryRedhead Shayera/Hawkgirl]], [[HotAmazon Mari/Vixen]] and [[GreenLantern John/Green Lantern]]. Maybe it's helped by how, yanno, the three ''act more or less like adults'' in canon about it? [[spoiler: Then again, it ''is'' also canon that Rex/Warhawk is Shayera and John's KidFromTheFuture, so maybe the GL/HG fans don't feel ''that'' threatened since they know Mari will be out of the picture later without any need to derail her.]]

** Aang: Since they can't kill off the KidHero, many [[PortmanteauCoupleName Zutara]] shippers make Aang so childish that he makes [[OuranHighSchoolHostClub Honey-sempai]] look like a man of deep ''gravitas''. The most rabid of these shippers go so far as to call him "Bryke's special little [[CanonSue Gary Stu]]" or "self-insert golden boy" for daring to get his happy ending with the girl he likes; DeviantArt and Livejournal are ''littered'' with angry rants and "intelligent" essays ''blasting'' the Aang/Katara pairing, taking AlternateCharacterInterpretation to extremes by twisting Aang into a selfish little bastard who "only won Katara as a prize for being the Special Hero", accusing Kataang of being "creepy" or "sexist" and clinging to the rejected kiss scene in "The Ember Island Players" as "evidence" of this, ''completely'' discounting two and a half seasons of friendship and development.

*** Other shippers simply discounted Aang because he was ''12 years old.'' They usually assigned a [[LikeBrotherAndSister big sister/little brother]] type relationship to Aang and Katara, villainizing neither and viewing their relationship as one that they would naturally grow out of as they got older. Then the [[AvatarTheLegendOfKorra planned sequel series]] had WordOfGod identifying Tenzin as Aang and Katara's ''son'', thus all but confirming that their relationship ''did'' last beyond the "teenage hormones" stage. Needless to say, this simple declaration set the Kataang vs. Zutara wars aflame again.

* Leela from ''{{Futurama}}'' often gets shafted in Fry/Bender fics as a cruel, snobbish, manipulative, ungrateful bitch. Stories like this often culminate in Bender protecting Fry from Leela, leading Fry to realize that Bender is his true love, and his (Fry's) longing for Leela is unhealthy because she, unlike Bender, doesn't give a damn about how much Fry loves her and/or is extremely abusive towards him. This despite the fact that Bender is canonically far, far more abusive towards Fry than Leela is, and actually ''is'' manipulative. Since everyone in Futurama is royally screwed up, having Leela being slightly abusive (but less abusive than Bender) towards Fry would be totally in-character — it's only when the abuse gets severely lopsided that this trope gets invoked.

*** Unlike other examples for this show, Owen's not safe even in general fics. If the fan fic is tagged with Duncan/Gwen, for example, and it's a ship fic, then you can highly expect Courtney bashing. However in continuation or FixFic[=s=], Izzy usually breaks up with Owen at one point or another whenever the author wants to throw in another Izzy pairing. This '''was''' usually Ezekiel in the non-ship fics, anyone else gets paired up with her in fics devoted mostly to relationships, then however Noah/Izzy has gained popularity. If a token 'You pushed me in front of a fake serial killer two seasons ago and now I realised this so by' doesn't occur, there's still a chance of the canon pairing being completely ignored, and Izzy instantly falls in love with Ezekiel/Noah/Duncan/Cody. Combine that with all the fan fiction dedicated to other Izzy pairings, then this has gotten to the point where Owen could be the MostTriumphantExample in the TD fandom, as even '''Sierra/Cody''' gets more love than Izzy/Owen. Seeing how Owen [[SpotlightStealingSquad steals the spotlight]] just for fart and fat jokes, he has gotten quite a lot of hate. Even ''after'' [[spoiler:Izzy breaks up with him]]. The Second Season's first episode had him start off trying to kill Principal Kelly because Kitty laughed the first time he made him trip with his powers (Which this troper assumed because the person next to her said something funny), & the Next scene he tried to drag her with him & grabbing her arm like a girlfriend beater (So ''that's'' where the fans get that vibe from) despite them ''not even going out yet.'' ** Actually Amanda does usually get a lot of flack by Kurtty fans simply because of her exsistance & is usualy derailed as only liking Kurt for being different as a way to rebel against her parents & is loathed by Kitty, despite Kitty & Amanda aparently being friends (Evolution Tie-in issue #8 has Kitty tell Spyke how nice Amanda is), Lance however should be noted that a lot of the time in the show he was just like they depict, whenever he isn't chasing Kitty he's usually attacking the X-Men & being a douche, infact his first episode he tried to ''Kill Kitty's parents, then tried to Kill Kitty herself!'' The Second Season's first episode had him start off trying to kill Principal Kelly because Kitty laughed the first time he made him trip with his powers (Which this troper assumed because the person next to her said something funny), & the Next scene he tried to drag her with him & grabbing her arm like a girlfriend beater (So ''thats'' where the fans get that vibe from) despite them ''not even going out yet.'' At least on the Safe side Kurt never gets bashed by Lancitty fans & this troper challanges them to find proof they do!

*** Kevin/Gwen fans now perceive Charmcaster as getting in the way of their ship due to her seducing Kevin in her Alien Force debut episode. Michael Morningstar/Darkstar gets a similar reaction due to his consant flirtations toward "lovely Gwen". Sometimes there is no DieForOurShip, though, and Charmcaster and Darkstar wind up paired with each other instead.

** A reversed situation happened with Harry/Gwen. When Gwen starts dating Harry, it's clear that she's doing so just because she feels sorry for [[TheWoobie him.]] Shippers agreed with her decision [[BreakTheCutie (Harry went through some Grade-A Shit last season)]] and they waited paitiently for them to break-up so we could get to the Peter/Gwen. Just when the build-up to the fabled ship arrived, Harry found out Gwen's true feelings and became jealous. Then another woobie moment happens, and Harry decides to KickTheDog by manipulating Gwen into staying with him to "ease the pain," though it's evident he's just jealous of Peter. Shippers promptly went to war.

* Suzy Johnson of ''PhineasAndFerb'' is an odd examlpe of this because she is Jeremy's little sister. However, she's violently opposed to him dating Candace and tortures her at every opportunity, making her probably the least popular character among fans.

* Many Helga/Arnold shippers [also Helga ;)] hate and depise Lila (and also Ruth and Summer) for Arnold's former crush on her throught the last part of the series. Which is odd, because Lila did nothing but gently and repeatedly turn Arnold down, and even ''helped'' Helga kiss him after getting her to admit her crush. Granted, it ''has'' been said by WordOfGod that Lila is really [[{{PlayingHardToGet}} subconsciously stringing Arnold along]], and you get a taste of what Lila is really like beneath the false sweetness with Lulu, [[{{EvilTwin}}the evil cousin]] from [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AfBq6z3PqZA Arnold Visits Arnie]], but that still doesn't make her the Evil Bitch from Hell!

* In ''TheRealGhostbusters'' Janine Melnitz often becomes the target because of her [[ShipTease love interest Egon Spengler.]] Usually villafied as either an over controlling harpy or a heartless slut. If the pairing is OC/Egon than this can get especially bad. Doesn't help that Ramis isn't too fond of Janine/Egon either in the original movies.
* [[AdventureTime Marceline the Vampire queen]] is not the Finn/Princess Bubblegum shipper's favorite character
* [[TheMarvelousMisadventuresOfFlapjack Sally Syrup]] probably gets this
* Slasher (Margaret's boyfriend from the RegularShow) is bound to get a whole lot of hate from people who prefer her with Mordecai

*** Unlike other examples for this show, Owen's not safe even in general fics. If the fan fic is tagged with Duncan/Gwen, for example, and it's a ship fic, then you can highly expect Courtney bashing. However in continuation or FixFic[=s=], Izzy usually breaks up with Owen at one point or another whenever the author want to throw in Ezekiel/Izzy[[hottip:*:It's usually Ezekiel in the non-ship fics. Anyone else gets paired up with her in fics devoted mostly to relationships]].
