Once soldiers of opposing natures but banded together through chance, Noah, Mio, Eunie, Taion, Lanz, and Sena have become Aionios' greatest hope in fighting against the machinations of Moebius and ending the ForeverWar between Keves and Agnus.

----
!In General
* ActionGirl: Mio, Eunie, and Sena are young women who are capable, experienced soldiers and aren't afraid to get into a fight (and in Eunie's case quite enjoys sparring).
* ChildhoodFriends: Noah, Lanz, and Eunie are friends that have known each other since childhood.
* ColorCodedForYourConvenience: Their Ouroboros forms differ in color depending on who's "controlling" the body. The Keves' crew Ouroboros forms are dark purple in color, whereas the Agnus crew's forms are white.
* CriticalAnnoyance: If the heroes remain in their fused state for too long, their bodies will start to heat up and warning sounds start blaring. While the group has no idea what the sound is, Taion theorizes it cannot be anything good. It is not until their encounter with Consuls O and P they learn what the warning sound is. [[spoiler:True to Taion's concerns, the warning sounds signal the Ouroboros are dangerously close to becoming the trigger for an Annihilation Event.]]
* ElitesAreMoreGlamorous: Prior to becoming Ouroboros the party were all part of their Colonies elite special forces.
* EnemyMine: The two halves of the party are forced to put their differences aside after trying to kill each other almost immediately beforehand to fight against D.
* FireForgedFriends: Despite some initial difficulties, they become close friends through their experiences together.
* FiveTokenBand: In addition to the nations of Keves and Agnus themselves being mixes of races from ''Xenoblade Chronicles 1'' and ''Xenoblade Chronicles 2'' respectively, Noah (Homs), Eunie (High Entia), Lanz (Machina), Mio (Gormotti), Taion (Human), and Sena (Blade) are all different races.
* FusionDance: Noah and Mio, Eunie and Taion, and Lanz and Sena can combine via Interlink to form an Ouroboros, its form depending on who is the dominant partner at the time. While one form, they do still keep their separate minds, with the one currently speaking being signified by either the right (Keves) or left (Agnus) eye flashing while they talk.
* GenderEqualEnsemble: Three boys (Noah, Lanz, and Taion) and three girls (Mio, Sena, and Eunie) in the main party.
* GhostMemory: When the party fuses into their Ouroboros forms, they see the memories of their partner before the fusion completes.
* GoodCounterpart:
** As Ouroboros want to end the vicious cycle of death and rebirth comprising the ForeverWar, they are this to Moebius, who want to maintain the status quo to preserve themselves and entertain themselves with the neverending war between Keves and Agnus.
** Moreso for Noah and Mio towards [[spoiler:N and M, respectively, as the current Noah and Mio are considered to be the incarnated hopes and repentance of the previous Noah and Mio once they became Moebius. Though somewhat downplayed for M as she was GoodAllAlong and that thanks to her [[SpannerInTheWorks swapping bodies with the current Mio prior to her Homecoming]], she gave Ouroboros a chance to fully fight back]].
* HealingFactor: As long as the core of an Interlink remains intact, they can easily heal from otherwise mortal wounds. In-gameplay this is represented in their inability to take damage while fused.
* HelmetsAreHardlyHeroic:
** The Keves squad is introduced helmetless when almost everyone else is wearing one.
** While the Agnus squad is introduced wearing helmets, they break in the subsequent battle with Noah's squad and they don't bother wearing them again once both halves join forces.
* HeroicSacrifice: Attempted when Lanz and Sena try to stop N by [[spoiler:grabbing him and launching themselves in Interlink form into the air in an attempt to destroy them with the inevitable overclocking explosion from staying Interlinked for too long, only to be foiled by X.]]
* HourOfPower: They can only stay Interlinked for so long until they heat up so much that they're forced to break up and have to wait longer before fusing again.
* IdiotBall: Despite [[spoiler:Shania]] mentioning it to be her plan more than once, the party and Ghondor are still blindsided by [[spoiler:Shania coming back from killing herself as Moebius S, though to be fair, this only happens in an optional sidequest.]]
* ImpliedLoveInterest: While Noah and Mio are the only OfficialCouple among the main cast, the others are sorted into M/F duos in a version of EveryoneMustBePaired, although it's downplayed in that none of them are confirmed as overtly romantic to nearly the same extent.
** Eunie and Taion are a WillTheyOrWontThey duo who receive a lot of ShipTease, but it's left ambiguous if they're romantically attracted or they're just a particularly {{Tsundere}} variant of PlatonicLifePartners. In particular, a lot of Eunie's insults to Taion can be interpreted as light LovingBully teasing that he's [[ObliviousToLove too dense to pick up on]], but since she's TheGadfly it's also possible she's acting flirty on purpose purely to annoy him. In the ending [[spoiler:Eunie tells Taion he's only her fourth favorite friend, flustering him, but in characteristic Eunie fashion even ''that'' is likely a form of trolling, and again it's ambiguous whether it's her way of flirting with him one last time or she genuinely sees them as JustFriends]].
** Lanz and Sena never show any overt signs of attraction to one another, with their relationship usually being depicted closer to a PlatonicLifePartners friendship between BirdsOfAFeather, being the first of the party to take a liking to one another and breaking the ice. At the same time, some of Sena's discussions on Interlinking and who is dominant are [[DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything worded in such a way]] that implies it to be akin to a RomanticFusion even if they aren't outwardly romantic.
** Despite starting off as strangers, Riku and Manana are always praising one another and doing things to keep each other happy, with Riku showing a great deal of concern over Manana's wellbeing after she attempts to defend the party from spiders. The ending [[spoiler:has them in tears over the prospect of being separated from one another]].
* ImmuneToMindControl: Due to their Ouroboros powers freeing them from the slavery of the Flame Clocks, the main party is immune from getting controlled by the Consuls. [[spoiler:However, they are still vulnerable to M's possession ability. However, since this ability allows her and Mio to swap bodies as part of M's gambit to save the party and be free of N, this turns out to be a good thing.]]
* InSpiteOfANail: [[spoiler:It's implied that no matter what happens in a given cycle, Noah and Mio will meet, abandon their nations, and get involved with the Lost Numbers.]]
* LetsYouAndHimFight: The first time the Keves and Agnus halves of the party meet, they fight and are pretty evenly matched until Vandham gets them to stop.
* MasculineGirlFeminineBoy: Eunie is a brash and aggressive [[TheLadette Ladette]] with {{Tsurime}} and little in the way of proper manners, while Taion is a somewhat feminine-looking bookworm with {{Tareme}} whose reserved demeanor is a cover for his emotional sensitivity and lack of confidence. Relatedly, Eunie tends to take the reins as the more dominant member of their Ouroboros fusion.
* NiceGuy: None of them are particularly unfriendly people; at worse, Lanz and Taion have a lot of understandable bad blood left over from the ForeverWar, but they warm up pretty quickly and even before then are more than willing to bury the hatchet for mutual survival.
* TeethClenchedTeamwork: Downplayed. Some members like Taion and Lanz aren't keen on fighting together at first given the bad blood between their countries, and they have some disagreements with how they fight. As time progresses, however, the group becomes a more cohesive unit.
* TrueCompanions: By the end of the game, the group has become this after all of the trials they've went through.
* TheUnchosenOne: Monica reveals this to be the case in Chapter 5. [[spoiler:The power of Ouroboros was meant to go to the City's candidates, all of whom trained for that explicit purpose. The Kevesi and Agnian groups became Ouroboros partly out of circumstance and Vandham's snap decision to activate the Ouroboros Stone.]]
* UniqueProtagonistAsset:
** As the Ouroboros, the party are ImmuneToMindControl, can uniquely change their classes and instantly learn their Arts--and as a result use both Keves and Agnus Arts at the same time--and finally Interlink to become substantially stronger.
** After Noah finally unsheathes Lucky Seven in Chapter 2, he gains a new Talent Art in the form of "Infinity Blade." It is also, for a long time in gameplay, the only time a party member can have a Talent Art different from their current class'.
** At the start of Chapter 6, [[spoiler:Noah and Mio obtain new Talent Arts. Noah's "Unlimited Sword" Talent Art allows him to fully use Lucky Seven in battle with a slew of new Arts that change depending on his current role as well as an additional new Talent Art, "Final Lucky Seven," which is its own Blade Combo. Mio, meanwhile, gains "Dominion Flower" as a Talent Art.]]
* WhatIsThisThingYouCallLove: Due to their upbringing as ChildSoldiers that come out of cradles, the party initially has some issues comprehending forms of love that aren't based around comradeship, such as familial and romantic love. Learning about the latter is implied to be how Noah and Mio come to realize their own feelings towards each other.
* WithAFriendAndAStranger: Amongst the Agnian trio, Mio and Sena had already known each other since their days in their old colony, but Taion is a relative newcomer to their group.

!!The Ouroboros
[[folder:Noah & Mio]]
* ParadoxPerson: [[spoiler:Noah and Mio are not supposed to exist in the current cycle, as their past incarnations N and M have become immortal Moebius. They are the only people in Aionios to exist alongside their past lives.]]
* ReincarnationRomance: [[spoiler:In many cycles, Noah and Mio find each other, fall in love, and defect from their home countries, only to die and start over. [[DeconstructedTrope Deconstructed]], when N learns of this, he is distraught in how their lives are in an endless cycle of misery, and joins Moebius to live in the "now" forever.]]

->''"If the world holds our lives back, I will end it! It's as simple as that!"''

The "off-seer" of Colony 9's special forces from Keves and one of the two protagonists of the story.
----
* AbsurdlySharpBlade: The Lucky Seven, renamed by Noah as the Sword of the End. It's part of a series of swords and is capable of cutting through a Ferronis like a hot knife through butter. When Lanz attempted to strike it at Riku's behest, his Blade was the one getting cut in half. It's for this reason Noah keeps it sheathed inside his own Blade as a last resort. It's even capable of slicing through immaterial things such as [[spoiler:Moebius S's time fields. This is because it is made in part using metal from [[EldritchLocation Origin]].]]
* TheBard: As an off-seer, he was trained to play his flute to allow the souls of the departed to pass on to the beyond. He is also sometimes seen playing it at camp with Mio.
* BifurcatedWeapon: Within Noah's sword is a smaller and even sharper sword, the Sword of the End. In his Ouroboros form he wields a sword that can split down the middle into two identical swords, as well as being able to transform into wings or a surfboard.
* ContrastingSequelMainCharacter: To the protagonists of the previous games:
** Like Shulk in the first ''Xenoblade Chronicles'', Noah has military training owing to Keves' status as being perpetually locked in war. That said, Noah would rather not fight if possible and has the job of sending off the departed spirits of the dead. Shulk was willing to fight other Homs, but not outright kill them, and was more interested in tinkering with machinery. Regarding their relationship with the antagonists, Shulk grew to vehemently despise the Mechon after Fiora's "death" and their continued atrocities across Bionis while Noah never had any kind of hatred or resentment towards Agnus, even sending off their dead despite being an off-seer for Keves, [[spoiler:his resentment instead being reserved for Moebius]].
** Rex was a salvager who initially had a simplistic view of the world due to his young age and, by all accounts, got involved in ''Xenoblade Chronicles 2'' by accepting the right job at the wrong time. Noah has a more nuanced view of the world, having lived in a country that's been at war for who knows how long and raised as a ChildSoldier whose role in the story is sparked by the appearance of a previously unknown third faction attempting to get both sides to stop fighting.
* CoolSword: Noah's Veiled Blade and the sword he got from Riku during his trainee days.
* DoIReallySoundLikeThat: When Eunie mocks his sense of duty as an off-seer, he asks her if he sounds as deep as she implied to her annoyance.
* DueToTheDead: Believing in sending off soldiers after they die no matter what faction they're part of.
* {{Expy}}: Of Fei Fong Wong from ''VideoGame/{{Xenogears}}'', as they are both ponytailed pacifists that seek to end a destructive war by uncovering its enigmatic origins. Noah's [[FusionDance Ouroboros]] form is also based on Fei's [[HumongousMecha gear]] Weltall, and he shares a name with the protagonist of the prototype version of ''Xenogears'' that went on to become Fei.
* GiverOfLameNames: Noah considers himself this, which is why he couldn't come up with a new name for the Lucky Seven. The name he does come up with, Sword of the End, [[AvertedTrope is pretty cool]]. [[spoiler:This is a trait he shares with N, as one of his past selves asked Mio to name their son due to this trope.]]
* TheGlovesComeOff: While ironically for the trope title the rest of his Blade forms into a gauntlet around his left arm, Noah's attacks become a lot more powerful when he uses the Sword of the End comprising the hilt.
-->'''Noah:''' Sorry, but I can't go easy on you!
* GoodIsNotSoft: While he abhors all the fighting and war in Aionios, he knows that if he doesn't fight he and his friends will die. [[spoiler:And when O and P cause Ethel and Camuravi's deaths, he has no objections to killing them and refuses to send them off, a fate he usually wouldn't condemn anyone to (their crimes were arguably not any worse than K's, but as he puts it he's only human and his kindness has limits when it comes to personal offenses, in this case contributing to Ethel's death)]].
* HeroesPreferSwords: His default class is Swordfighter that uses a futuristic red sword, not unlike [[VideoGame/XenobladeChronicles1 the Monado Replica EX]] or [[VideoGame/XenobladeChronicles2 the Aegis]].
* HeroicBSOD: [[spoiler:When N defeats the party and imprisons them to make them watch as Mio's time dwindles, Noah takes it the hardest, beating his knuckles bloody trying to find any way to escape and when that fails, being so despondent that he refuses to eat. When N mockingly gives him his flute to send Mio off during her Homecoming, he is unable to find the strength. It takes M revealing herself to actually be Mio to get him out of his despair.]]
* {{Infinite}}: Noah has a Talent Art named "Infinity Blade" which bears the same name as the Level IV Special of [[VideoGame/XenobladeChronicles2 Pyra/Mythra]]'s ascended form.
* LongHairedPrettyBoy: He sports a prominent SamuraiPonytail unlike Shulk and Rex, has a slender build, and also has the soft features to match.
* MartialPacifist: Noah is one of the few people who seeks to stop the constant war Aionios is thrust into, though he's willing to fight others to achieve this end if necessary.
* MusclesAreMeaningless: His official bio describes him as being very powerful despite his slim build.
* MythologyGag: [[spoiler:When he unlocks the true power of the Sword of the End and uses his "Unlimited Sword" talent art, his new Arts are represented with kanji similar to Monado Arts.]]
* NiceGuy: Almost a series tradition now, Noah is generally a pleasant guy like previous protagonists Shulk and Rex.
* OurHeroIsDead: [[spoiler:After Mio dies and N executes Noah, he goes to an AfterlifeAntechamber where he is informed of N's true nature and whether Noah will make the same choice that he did. When Noah resolves to change the world instead of keeping it the same, it's revealed that M, who is actually Mio post FreakyFridayFlip, saved him at the last second. It is ambiguous as to whether Noah really died when N executed him, and he was given a second chance at life, or if he was having a YearInsideHourOutside experience in the second before the blade touches his neck.]]
* PrecisionFStrike: While he's normally got a clean mouth compared to the likes of Eunie, [[spoiler:he tells N that he's "full of shit" while fighting him during Chapter 6.]]
* RedIsHeroic: He's a main protoganist who wears a red jacket and wields a sword that is also predominantly red.
* SamuraiPonytail: Wears his long hair in a ponytail, and [[https://twitter.com/XenobladeJP/status/1493118827332538376 his official bio]] describes his way of holding his sword as very samurai-like.
* ShipTease: Almost from the start there are constant sweet moments between him and Mio, well before either even know what romantic love is. [[spoiler: They exchange their Off-seer flutes before infiltrating Keves Castle which is treated as an intimate gesture. When they see a couple kissing in the City both glance at each other before bashfully looking away.]]
* TrickedOutGloves: Drawing the Sword of the End will cause his red Blade to reform into an ornate gauntlet over his left arm.
* ThreeAmigos: Has this dynamic with {{Childhood Friend}}s Lanz and Eunie, much in the same way Shulk had Reyn and Fiora.
* WillfullyWeak: It was initially assumed that Noah could not summon his Blade and relied on a training sword to get by in practice. As Riku correctly surmises when he goes for a replacement sword after his old one was destroyed by Garvel, it's not that Noah couldn't summon it; it was that he lacked the spirit to fight seriously to want to use it effectively.

->''"Finding a path that lets us all live, I will make that my mission."''

A woman from Agnus and one of the two protagonists who, like Noah, is an "off-seer" from Colony Gamma.
----
* AlmightyJanitor: Mio is so skilled a warrior that it's likely she would've made it to Silver Rank, but despite her skills got assigned to being an off-seer with Miyabi.
* AmbiguouslyRelated: [[spoiler:Mio looks a lot like Nia, has a similar taste in weapons, and even shares her Flesh Eater Core Crystal. Nia mentions during their one-on-one conversation in her Hero Quest that out of everyone she wanted to meet Mio the most while she was still in stasis, feels that it was destiny that they should meet, and is about to say more on the subject before being interrupted by the rest of the party, and the ending reveals that Nia had a child with Rex. This all strongly implies a direct relationship of some sort that's more than mere coincidence, such as her either literally being Nia's daughter or a distant descendent from her, but it's never directly stated what that relation is.]]
* TheBard: Much like Noah, Mio is an off-seer, and was thus trained to play her flute to allow the souls of the departed to pass on to the beyond. She is also sometimes seen playing it at camp with Noah.
* CatGirl: Mio looks Gormotti, sporting feline ears, and is aligned Agnus, which is descended from the world of Alrest. To go with this, the English dub gives her a Welsh accent like other Gormotti (hers isn't as thick as Nia's, though).
* BecomingTheMask: She didn't choose to become an off-seer but was initially assigned as one despite her objections. After half-heartedly learning the melody and overseeing a couple of battles, she changes her mind and takes it much more seriously after Miyabi teaches her how important her role is.
* CoolBigSis: Sena's official character bio notes that she looks up to Mio like a big sister.
* DanceBattler: Noah notes that her fighting style is based around the rhythm of Agnian off-seer music.
* DidYouJustPunchOutCthulhu: [[spoiler:While enraged by Ethel's death, Mio (In ''human'' form) punches O and P in their interlinked Mobius form so hard that they're sent flying into a rock despite their massive size.]]
* DualityMotif: [[spoiler:Mio's new body used to belong to M of Moebius, and so when that fact is brought up, her Iris shows both the Ouroboros and Moebius symbols at once.]]
* ExoticEyeDesigns: Along with the Flame Clock and Ouroboros symbols in her Iris, [[spoiler:when Mio gains M's body, the Ouroboros and Moebius Iris combine to create a completely new symbol.]]
* ExpressiveEars: Her ears are drooped from exhaustion and thirst in a desert until Sena notices water, causing them to flip up before she dashes to it.
* EveryoneLives: As her quote at the top implies, she travels with Noah so they can find a way to ensure everyone can continue living, especially when they learn destroying the Ferronis' Flame Clocks allows the colonies to continue living without the need to kill others and steal their "flames".
* GameplayAndStorySegregation: Shortly after the start of Chapter 6, when she confides in Eunie and Sena about her new hairstyle [[spoiler:after switching bodies with M]], the player then decides on keeping her hair long or cutting it back to short. While the game implies this is a one-and-done decision, an Option opens up to allow changing Mio's hair at any time without affecting the story from that point on.
* HeyYou: She actually does not address Noah by his name in cutscenes nor gameplay after joining forces. [[spoiler:Near the end of Chapter 5, it is hinted by M, who already switched bodies with Mio by the time the Ouroboros gang has been imprisoned until the eclipse and Mio's Homecoming, that calling Noah by name would force her to finally confront her own feelings for him and break her heart. Though it is M most likely relating her thoughts about N during the imprisonment, she is still Mio at her core and is relaying what the current Mio feels from experience. Sure enough from Chapter 6 onwards, Mio does say Noah's name, an instance being that instead of prompting him if ''he's'' prepared when she initiates Interlinking, she proclaims that with ''Noah'', she can fight on]].
* InSeriesNickname: Sena refers to Mio as "Mimi".
* KickingAssInAllHerFinery: She's wearing her ceremonial-looking off-seer outfit during her squad's fight with Noah's prior to getting her standard outfit.
* LightningBruiser: While her [[https://twitter.com/NintendoAmerica/status/1493281649345413123 official bio]] emphasizes her speed and details how she uses it to attack, she is actually a ''tank'' in her default class, [[RecurringElement similar to]] 1's Dunban and 2's Mòrag. If anything, her HP pool is second only to [[TheBigGuy Lanz]]. During her battle with Noah when the two halves of the party first meet, Noah mentions that she's so strong and fast that he has use all his skill just to survive, and anything less would end in his death.
* MsExposition: [[spoiler:After being given M's body, she also inherits her memories, and with it, a ''lot'' of information on who and what the Moebius are.]]
* PunnyName: Similarly to how Nia's name in ''2'' is derived from "nyan," Mio's name comes from "meow," fitting her CatGirl design.
* RecurringBoss: She's fought at the beginning of the game alongside Taion and Sena, [[spoiler:and again [[FreakyFridayFlip in the body of M]].]]
* RingsOfDeath: As shown in her character art, she wields a pair of discs pretty close in appearance to chakrams without the inner handle. Separating them from a standard DeadlyDisc is that she fights with them in melee.
* ShipTease: Almost from the start there are constant sweet moments between her and Noah, well before either know what romantic love is. One notable scene has her initiate an exchange of flutes with Noah, who was confused at first at the idea, but consent soon after.
* SpannerInTheWorks: [[spoiler:She as M appears before Ghondor and Monica to warn them that the City's been compromised, foiling Moebius' attempt to destroy it with Castle Agnus' Annihilator.]]
* StepfordSmiler: She puts up a brave front most of the time, but she's in actuality deeply afraid of her coming death.
* StrongerThanYouLook: Not quite as strong as Sena, but despite her thin build with a running start she manages to [[spoiler:punch the Interlinked O and P so hard that they're sent flying into a rock.]]
* SuperHearing: As a Gormotti she naturally has sharp hearing senses and it comes in handy saving the party more than once. When Juniper first attacks the party, she's shown to detect their ambush attack on Eunie and push her out of the way, even though ambushes are stated to be Juniper's specialty.
* SuperSpeed: In her character video, Mio claims to be able to run 100 meters in 7 seconds, meaning she can run at over 30 mph. For comparison, the current world record for the 100-meter dash is held by Usain Bolt at 9.58 seconds, which is ''around 27 mph!'' "Super speed" indeed! [[GameplayAndStoryIntegration Fittingly]], she has the highest Agility stat of the main party.
* TalkToTheFist: [[spoiler:Shuts up the interlinked O and P by punching them as they start monologuing after Ethel and Camuravi's death, sending them flying without even being in Ouroboros form]].
* TomboyAndGirlyGirl: Shares this dynamic with Miyabi; Mio is more athletic and prepared for combat, to the point where Mio didn't even intend to become an off-seer, while Miaybi is the demure and delicate off-seer who doesn't like fighting. However, when it comes to the main party members, she's the girly-girl to Eunie and Sena's tomboys.
* YourDaysAreNumbered: While this is true for everyone in the party, Mio in particular only has about three months left in her Term. It's for this reason that Jeremy decides not to kill her when she offers her life in exchange for all the Kevesians she's killed over the years. [[spoiler:It's ultimately subverted when she and M switch bodies and she gains an immortal Moebius-made body.]]

Noah and Lanz's {{Childhood Friend|s}} with a sharp tongue and rough personality.
----
* AccentAdaptation: Speaks in a very rough and informal manner in the original Japanese script. Adapted into a thick Cockney accent in the English dub that puts [[VideoGame/XenobladeChronicles1 Xord]] to shame.
-->'''Eunie:''' Just par' o' the protocol, innit?
* BoomStick: Her main weapon is a staff that doubles as a rifle.
* BoyishShorthair: As a child her hair was short enough to give her an androgynous appearance.
* BrokenAce: [[spoiler:She was once the best sharpshooter in Colony 18, but was killed by D because her Colony was [[FatalReward Gold Rank]], which was the best Rank for a Moebius to drain life force from.]]
* BrutalHonesty: Eunie tends to be upfront about her opinions and isn't afraid of hiding it when she doesn't like someone, describing herself as someone who prefers to take things at face value. Used to hilarious effect with Ashera and Gray.
* CombatMedic: As her official bio states, she fights using a MixAndMatchWeapon called a "Gunrod" which she can use to heal allies.
* ContrastingSequelMainCharacter:
** To Fiora from the first Xenoblade Chronicles. Both are the {{Childhood Friend|s}} of their respective main protagonists (Shulk and Noah) and both were seemingly killed by an AxCrazy maniac of a StarterVillain. (Mumkhar/Metal Face and D/[[spoiler:Blackblaze Dirk]]) However, while Fiora is [[NotQuiteDead revealed to be alive in a Mechon-like body]], [[spoiler:Eunie was killed by D during his raid on Colony 18 since it had the [[FatalReward Gold Rank]] and simply reincarnated into a new body as do all soldiers on Aionios who die before their Homecoming.]] Fiora is Shulk's love interest, whereas Eunie and Noah have a close but completely platonic bond.
** Likewise, she serves as one to Melia. Both specialize in ether and are High Entia, but they couldn't be any more different in personality. Whereas Melia was a polite, feminine refined princess with MysticalWhiteHair who spoke in Received Pronunciation and buried her feelings for the sake of not troubling others, Eunie has brown hair and is a tomboyish, brash pottymouth with a working-class Cockney accent whose BrutalHonesty makes her feelings on issues easily known all the time.
* DeadpanSnarker: Eunie has a sharp tongue and isn't afraid to speak her mind. A lot of the game's comedy comes from her wry comments at the events going on around them.
* DiscoveringYourOwnDeadBody: [[spoiler:She comes across the husk of one of her past selves decades after the destruction of Colony 18 and it deeply rattles her.]]
* TheLadette: She outstrips Lanz as the crudest, rudest member of the main party.
* TheMedic: Like Taion, her starting class has her specialize in healing her allies in battle.
* MercurysWings: Has short wings on her head resembling those of the High Entia.
* LadySwearsALot: Out of the main party, she is by far the most foul mouthed, using both in universe language like "snuff" and "spark" alongside curses from English like "bollocks" and "arsehole".
* PastLifeMemories: [[spoiler:Eunie has memories of a previous incarnation fighting and dying against D around forty years ago, which is why she deeply fears him at first.]]
* ShipTease:
** With [[spoiler:Taion. Early in chapter 6 Eunie notes in a scene that gets special attention from the camera that she can be more optimistic now since she has "a reliable guy to stand with [her]." Taion is visibly flustered and asks that she outright confirm she is talking about him, Eunie teasingly noting it's a secret.]]
** During the ending she refers to Taion as her "fourth best friend", which while it can come off as simply her trying to troll him at first glance, gains greater significance when you remember Eunie's belief in Fortune Clovers, which have ''four'' leaves.
* SmarterThanYouLook: Despite her brash attitude and headstrong nature, she was actually a pretty good student.
* ThirdPersonPerson: Not always but she does frequently refer to herself in third person, mostly in assorted field lines.
* TsurimeEyes: Has upward slanting eyes and happens to be the main snarker of the party.
* VitriolicBestBuds:
** Even after she and Taion get over their initial animosity and become friends, she still very much enjoys busting his chops given the opportunity.
** Most of the Heroes whose class Eunie inherits have this dynamic with her, especially Ashera, who enjoys Eunie's threats while actively suggesting they become friends. Sena at one point outright says she can't tell if they're going to hug or kill each other.
* WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes: Or Aspars, in this case. It's not out of fear but rather because she finds them [[{{Squick}} horrifically disgusting]] to the point she's noted to have almost vomited after fighting one.

->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/RyoheiKimura (Japanese), Olivier Huband (English)\\
'''Class:''' Tactician (base)\\
'''Role:''' Healer (base)

->''"If anything, we should be questioning all that we've thought to be true."''

Another soldier of Agnus, who fights alongside Mio. He's a tactician who fights with his smarts and insight.
----
* BlackAndNerdy: AmbiguouslyBrown in-game and voiced by a Black voice actor in the English version, and the soft-spoken [[TheSmartGuy Smart Guy]].
* DeadpanSnarker: Relatively polite and refined, but at times among the most acerbic of the main cast, frequently making sarcastic jabs at Lanz and Eunie over their goofier antics.
* TheEeyore: The most pragmatic, but also the most pessimistic of the party, with the rest of the party frequently making fun of him for his tendency to be a downer.
* ICallItVera: He refers to his katashiro weapons as "Mondo" and dotes on them like pets.
* InsufferableGenius: Downplayed and subverted. He doesn't forcefully boast about his skills, and he's normally quite nice, but any praise at all generally gets him to smugly point out that he's ''always'' skilled in strategy -- given how said praise is generally in response to him pulling off a scheme or pointing out an obscured tactical insight, it's hard to blame him. He later admits openly that it's one of the few things he has confidence in.
* LethalChef: According to Manana he's not the best cook, and the main reason she learned how to cook was because of how bad he is at it.
* MasterOfIllusion: His Ouroboros form is capable of disguising itself as other things using illusions, such as when he disguises himself as Eunie's form while they're fighting D.
* MrExposition: As TheSmartGuy of the team, he is the most knowledgeable of the party on a great deal of information about Aionios and responsible for explaining a great deal of things about the setting and story. Being a tactician from a colony with an established espionage network, he also has a great deal of insider knowledge regarding the various colonies and their leaders.
* MyGreatestFailure: Before coming to Colony Gamma, Taion served under Isurd and was asked to come up with a plan to assault a Keves colony. Despite protests against the plan one of Isurd's men suggested, saying it was too dangerous and they lacked crucial information, Taion ultimately went with it while making some adjustments. Not only did the plan end in failure, one of Taion's commanding officers and mentor, Nimue, was killed in the process.
* NotSoAboveItAll: He has his moments, but a shout-out to the "City Clothing" discussion where after Taion claims to be above caring about style, he gets deeply offended when Eunie calls his scarf uncool. There is also a scene at the end of Lanz's Ascension Quest where he gets positively giddy over how delicious food in the City is, describing it in excited detail.
* NotSoStoic: [[spoiler:While the group is visiting the maternity ward, he loses his usual cool demeanor when he sees the newborn baby.]]
* TheOneGuy: Starts out as the only guy on Mio's team.
* PaperMaster: Uses origami constructs that take the form of Shinto charms called katashiro as a weapon, making protective barriers and forming them into large birds.
* ScarfOfAsskicking: He's a soldier who wears a long orange scarf.
* SesquipedalianLoquaciousness: Tends to use a lot of fancy vocabulary to reflect his role as TheSmartGuy. For example, he [[InsistentTerminology insists]] on referring to Armus by their technical name of Armuidae.
* ShipTease: With [[spoiler:Eunie.
* SmartPeopleWearGlasses: Wears a pair of glasses and his official bio notes that his role is to serve as the tactician of Mio's group.
* TheStoic: Generally reserved in the way he expresses his emotions, although he points out to Eunie that he's not nearly as emotionless as some might think.
* TheStrategist: Described in his official bio as a brilliant tactician for the Agnus army.
* TallDarkAndSnarky: The second tallest party member after Lanz, and highly respected by his Agnus peers for his intelligence and thoughtfulness, but also very snarky and constantly feels like he's SurroundedByIdiots.
* TokenHuman: Downplayed. While the various races seen are referred to collectively as "human", Noah is a Homs (noted to be a distinct race from humans due to their ether sensitivity), Lanz is a Machina, Eunie is High Entia, while Mio and Sena have Core Crystals indicating that they are a Gormotti Flesh Eater and a pure Blade respectively. Taion on the other hand is implied to be a baseline Alrestian human similar to the Mor Ardainians, Leftherians, and Tantalese (ie. Born from the Titans but looking explicitly human compared to the much more distinct Gormotti, Urayans, and Indoline), as he has no TronLines or visible Core Crystal, and by extension is the closest to a human from pre-Conduit Earth.

!!Lanz

[[caption-width-right:350:[[labelnote:Click here to see his Ouroboros form]]\\

->'''Voiced by:''' Kohsuke Tanabe (Japanese), Creator/MutsumiTamura (Child Japanese), Jack Bardoe (English) , Magnus Irwin (Child English)\\
'''Class:''' Heavy Guard (base)\\
'''Role:''' Defender (base)

->''"What the spark are you on about?! I'm not gonna let you take the fall alone!"''

Noah's ally, who fights with a great sword that doubles as a shield. He's very dedicated to his friends, even putting himself in danger for them.
----
* AmazingTechnicolorPopulation: He has light grey and dark grey skin patterned with golden filigree, characteristics you'd find on a Machina.
* BeehiveBarrier: His sword forms an energy shield with hexagonal segments when planted.
* TheBigGuy: He is the largest and the most muscular party member.
* {{BFS}}: Carries around a greatsword that's wider than he is as his primary weapon. It's standard equipment for Heavy Guards.
* ButtMonkey: Out of the main 6, he gets made fun of the most due to his crass behavior and not being particularly bright.
* {{Fanboy}}: Of Ashera, whose mere presence leads him to blush and stutter, to the amusement of his party members.
* FriendToAllChildren: Lanz tends to show his nicer side to younger characters such as Fiona and Valdi.
* GoodIsNotNice:
** A far cry from the Xenoblade tradition of a big, friendly musclehead, Lanz is neutral toward Noah and Mio, tentatively friendly with Sena, and constantly rude and abrasive toward pretty much everyone else, even potential allies he's just meeting. Special mention goes to his initially icy relationship with Taion.
** After learning that Consul J is [[spoiler:actually the Keves' group's deceased ChildhoodFriend Joran]], he goes to Riku and requests a weapon similar to the one he gave Noah with the explicit purpose of using it against J. Riku refuses, both because Lanz [[spoiler:did not consider asking Noah's input on the matter]] and that finding a weapon comparable to Lucky Seven is ''very'' difficult.
* HeroicBSOD: He doesn't take the revelation of [[spoiler:Consul J being none other than Joran]] very well; understandable given that [[spoiler:Joran saved his life when they were trainees and his sacrifice shook Lanz heavily]].
* HugeGuyTinyGirl: Lanz, the biggest person in the main party, forms an Ouroboros with Sena, the smallest person in the party.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Lanz is perhaps the most abrasive of the main party, but he's a good person at heart.
* MixAndMatchWeapon: Like previous tank characters such as Reyn, Lin, and Tora, his sword can also be used as a shield, and like Lin it doubles as a minigun.
* MoreDakka: His weapon contains a turret that can rapidly fire shots, as seen when he uses Variable Turret.
* MyGreatestFailure: During Agnus' assault on Colony 14, Lanz was saved by Joran [[HeroicSacrifice at the cost of the latter's life]]. While this weighs heavily on Lanz already, he never managed to apologize for blowing up at Joran after he got himself "killed" in the trial against Garvel.
* NeverGotToSayGoodbye: Part of the reason he gets so beaten up defending his friends is out of guilt for never apologising to Joran for treating him poorly, mixing with PartingWordsRegret.
* RecurringElement: His official bio describes him in terms similar to Reyn, noting that he wields a shield weapon and takes damage to protect his friends, making him this series' defense tank.
* SuspiciouslySimilarSubstitute: Does a muscular childhood friend of the protagonist who puts himself in danger for his friends and wields a weapon doubling as a shield sound familiar? He definitely bears some resemblance to Reyn. He also has a similar English voice and accent to Reyn, and has the same Talent Art as him (Mad Taunt).

!!Sena

[[caption-width-right:350:[[labelnote:Click here to see her Ouroboros form]]\\

->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/MiyukiSato (Japanese), Rebecca [=LaChance=] (English)\\
'''Class:''' Ogre (base)\\
'''Role:''' Attacker (base)

->''"The truth is, she's terrified. She needs someone to tell her that everything will be alright."''

Another Agnus soldier, who, despite her petite figure, fights with a giant hammer. Although she's shy, she bears a special connection with Mio.
----
* AffectionateNickname: Refers to Mio as "Mimi" and by the end of the game Lanz as "Lanzy".
* AloneInACrowd: Looking through her memories, Lanz notes that while she was constantly surrounded by people, she still felt deeply lonely and isolated from others, even those who were kind to her, her own lack of confidence coloring how she viewed others treatment of her.
* BareYourMidriff: Wears a sports bra and a cropped jacket that shows off her midriff and navel.
* CuteBruiser: She looks fragile, but, as stated on the official site, wields immense physical strength.
* DropTheHammer: Her weapon is a giant hammer.
* EtTuBrute: Does not take [[spoiler:Shania's betrayal of the party to Moebius]] well after their perceived bonding moment.
* FlamingHair: The blue tips of her hair emit a blue flame.
* {{Foil}}: To Shania. Both girls were considered outcasts in their youth but eventually befriended and latched on to a girl more popular and talented than them, and their resulting inferiority complexes drove them to emulate their idols in any way they could. The only difference is that Shania couldn't let go of the past and became obsessed with surpassing Ghondor, while Sena eventually grew out of it and decided to embrace her own personal qualities.
* GlacierWaif: Lampshaded by official descriptions that contrast her petite figure with her titanic hammer.
* TheHeart: Sena serves as the emotional center of the party, starting off with positive relationships with just about everyone else when they're still overall at the standoffish if not outright TeethClenchedTeamwork stage, and having perhaps one of the highest levels of emotional intelligence amongst Ouroboros even if her tactics can be lacking. She and Lanz hit it off right away despite the latter's vocal grudge against Agnians, and she's the most into the icebreaker the party has following being deemed fugitives by their respective nations, playing a subtle but important role in getting everyone to bond as opposed to simply being allies of convenience.
* HiddenDepths: Beneath her boisterous exterior, she's a deeply lonely person.
* HugeGuyTinyGirl: Sena, the smallest person in the main party, forms a Ouroboros with Lanz, the biggest person in the party.
* MorphWeapon: For some of her Arts Sena can turn her hammer into a giant ball that she then hurls at the enemy, along with a barbell.
* MusclesAreMeaningless: She loves doing muscle training, but she has little to show for it with her tiny build.
* TheNicknamer: Sena is fond of giving affectionate nicknames to people she likes.
* PintSizedPowerhouse: She's very short but capable of easily tossing people twice her size over her head and wields a hammer about as big as she is as if it's as light as a feather. She's also seen pushing large rocks one handed when it takes Lanz two to do the same.
* PluckyGirl: Played with. This is what Sena ''wants'' to be and how she presents herself, as an energetic go-getter, even saying she'd like to be seen as a plucky heroine when Lanz confronts her about her real feelings. In reality, deep down she is lonely and lacks self confidence, hesitating for years to even believe Mio considered her a real friend and struggling to form her own identity. Her CharacterDevelopment is all about growing past this.
* StrongerThanTheyLook: Sena lampshades in her icebreaking conversation with the rest of the party how she's capable of lifting far beyond her own weight despite not looking it. When she and Lanz swamp classes for the first time, the latter's impressed that she can lift her hammer without a power frame, implying that it's about as heavy as it looks, and that she's even stronger than Lanz is.
* TomboyWithAGirlyStreak: A boisterous girl that loves muscle training, but also has slight elements of a ValleyGirl.
* TronLines: She has blue lines throughout her body. Along with her American accent in the English dub, they make her appear similar to a Blade.
* UnskilledButStrong: Alexandria notes that Sena is very strong but lacks much in the way of finesse.
* ValleyGirl: Has some elements of this in the English localization, mostly through her use of distinctly American teenager slang and vernacular in comparison to the majority British cast around her and other American accented characters who speak more formally.
-->"You are literally the best, Mimi!"
