* MrFanservice: While his default outfit is not very revealing, both of his DLC costumes emphasize his toned musculature, as does his Ouroboros Interlink, which is mentioned by ''Aionios Moments'' as having been designed to look attractive.

* HumongousHeadedHammer: [[PintSizedPowerhouse Sena's]] normal weapon of choice is the Comet Mallet, a gigantic hammer with strong but bouncy ends, as well as a round shape. It can even retract its handle and the ends can merge, [[MixAndMatchWeapon creating a large, metallic ball]] that Sena can throw at the opponent. While Sena is best for wielding it, due to the JobSystem, any of the main characters can wield the Comet Mallet as well.

* HeelFaceReincarnation: Noah and Mio are the reincarnations of [[spoiler:N and M]], and are much more heroic than their predecessors. [[spoiler:Downplayed, in that they exist at the same time as their previous incarnations, but they are said to be N and M's ideals and dreams that were cast off when they became Moebius. This trope is also downplayed in the case of M, who is only ForcedIntoVillainy, but M still considers Mio to be her better counterpart, and was willing to die to ensure that Mio survives to defeat Moebius.]]

* {{Expy}}: Does a muscular childhood friend of the protagonist who puts himself in danger for his friends and wields a weapon doubling as a shield sound familiar? He definitely bears some resemblance to Reyn. He also has a similar English voice and accent to Reyn, has the same Talent Art as him (Mad Taunt), and one of Noah's battle quotes has him calling Lanz a "lifesaver", just as Shulk would do with Reyn. In addition he shares Reyn's trait of being the butt of other party members' teasing, especially Eunie and Taion. Naturally, he gets a variation of Reyn's outfit as his Nostalgia costume, albeit modified with elements from Egil's costume as a nod to Lanz's Machina heritage.

* GameplayAndStorySegregation: The Mondo that Taion wields in his Tactician class are depicted as capable of a great many feats in cutscenes, most often making him out to be some kind of BarrierWarrior. In-game the Tactician class is mainly a healing and StatusEffects-based class, and none of its abilities are shield-related.

** Mio looks a lot like Nia, has a similar taste in weapons (Dual rings), and even shares her Flesh Eater Core Crystal. [[spoiler:Nia mentions during their one-on-one conversation in her Hero Quest that out of everyone she wanted to meet Mio the most while she was still in stasis, feels that it was destiny that they should meet, and is about to say more on the subject before being interrupted by the rest of the party. Mio also gets a variant of Nia's Blade form as her Nostalgia costume, and its alternate palette is based off one of Nia's own palette alts. This all strongly implies a direct relationship of some sort that's more than mere coincidence, such as her either literally being Nia's daughter or a more distant descendent from her, but it's never directly stated what that relation is. The ending reveals that Nia had a furry-eared child who is strongly implied to be Rex's, and Mio quotes Rex's philosophy when talking to Ghondor. But there are other ambiguous hints that Mio's other parent may have been Mythra, such as her being noted for her exceptional speed, bursts of super-strength, and evasion abilities, skills specifically attributed to Mythra in ''2'', as well as Matthew indicating that access to Pneuma is a familial trait, and concept art depicting Mio as explicitly descended from one of the Aegises. Furthermore, Mio's gold eyes are closer to Rex's or Mythra's shade of amber rather than Nia's, which further strengthens the argument that one of those two was her other parent.]]

But once again, as with Ethel and Ashera, it's never made clear whether it's a result of his knowing or being related to Shulk in some fashion, or if the similarities are merely conceptual inspiration [[spoiler:particularly since Shulk does not seem to acknowledge Consul N as someone he knows]].
