* LastNameBasis: He is mainly referred to as Canvas, which is how his team is named. He was referred to as Lucien before the team was formed, but afterward, this is exclusively how he is addressed.
* NiceGuy: Pretty chill outside of frustration with Adrian, and even then, he cares about him at the end of the day.
* NotSoAboveItAll: Despite his frustration with Adrian, Canvas really likes to lord over the fact they're legally bonded to each other. When Glynda sternly tells him it's not his choice to be partnered with Adrian, he very smugly tells her it isn’t hers, either. He also interrupts Ozpin to loudly boast that he got the partner he wanted.
* SoProudOfYou: Whenever Adrian holds onto the SmartBall.
* VitriolicBestBuds: Downplayed and one-sided with Adrian. Canvas has to scold him like a strict parent whenever he does something stupid (which is often), but he gets along with him swimmingly otherwise and [[SoProudOfYou shows pride]] whenever Adrian does something smart.

* AmicableExes: She had no ill will toward Kali after their relationship ended. Their families still met up at times and they worked as police partners.
* AntiHero: While a good cop, Sienna held deeply hidden prejudices against humans that would occasionally boil to the surface. She also assaulted the man who attempted to molest her son. As the "Rise of The Tiger" Arc goes on, she loses the “hero” part.

* AdaptationalNiceGuy: He was one of the people who mocked Cinder about her disfigurement. In this story, he feels sympathy for her and is eager to get revenge on her behalf. He also isn't out to use violence on the rest of Ruby's party and allows them to run if they don't get in his way.
* AffablyEvil: Despite his psychosis, Tyrian cares for his allies and wishes to avenge Cinder’s mutilation at Ruby’s hands. He even tries to let the rest of Ruby's party go if they don't put up a fight to stop him from taking her. True to his word, he intends to do just that when they seemingly abandon her.
* AxCrazy: Tyrian still seems to be the same maniac he was in canon. He looks forward to being able to butcher Ruby on Cinder's behalf.

* AxCrazy: The Wendigo is a violent monster with a history of ravaging villages for his enjoyment. He is gleeful at the idea of slaughtering the hundreds of Huntsmen in Mistral and relishes in the idea of tearing apart Ruby slowly. When he trains with Cinder, he is dismembering the other Grimm.
* CreepySouvenir: Ren and Nora find mementos of his rampages through innocent villages in his cave, one of which is Li Ren's knife from Kuroyuri.
* EvilIsBigger: Standing at nine feet tall, he towers over everyone in Salem's inner circle.
* FauxAffablyEvil: The Wendigo is good at acting like he's being nice, but it doesn't negate the sadistic butcher underneath. He talks gently to Ren while brutally murdering his parents in front of him while shifting blame onto Nora for inadvertently leading him there.

* AmicableExes: She had no ill will toward Kali after their relationship ended. Their families still met up at times and they worked as police partners.
* AntiHero: While a good cop, Sienna held deeply hidden prejudices against humans that would occasionally boil to the surface. She also assaulted the man who attempted to molest her son. As the "Rise of The Tiger" Arc goes on, she loses the “hero” part.
* AntiVillain: A genocidal terrorist, but it’s shown Sienna is a woman broken by the traumatic loss of her family and completely believes her cause is just.
* AxCrazy: Despite the above, Sienna is incredibly bloodthirsty against humans, and while they deserved it, made it clear the painful deaths she handed out to Lurker and Atwood would also be dished out to completely innocent humans.
* CrusadingWidow: A villainous example. The death of her son and her wife’s suicide caused her to become the leader of the White Fang.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: Her son was abducted and tortured by a pedophile she had assaulted, dying from the trauma inflicted on him. Her wife committed suicide not long after.
* FallenHero: From a respected cop to the leader of an extremist terrorist movement.
* FantasticRacism: Had shades of this when she was a cop, occasionally blowing off some steam on humans whenever one of them does something wrong, but dived headfirst into this after learning how many humans across Remnant purchased Lurker’s snuff films.
* GoodParents: Sienna is extremely protective of Alessandro, and doesn’t hesitate to assure him she isn’t angry at him after she gets suspended for beating his attempted rapist.
* GreaterScopeVillain: As the founder and leader of the White Fang, she’s responsible for all the atrocities they committed.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: When she was a cop, she would occasionally poke fun at Kali and had some prejudice against humans due to their history of mistreating Faunus, but was close with the Belladonnas and nothing but kind and loving towards her family. Their loss annihilated the goodness in her.
* KickTheSonOfABitch: While Sienna killed them off in a gruesome fashion, few could argue that Lurker and Atwood didn’t deserve it.
* MamaBear: When she finds out Atwood tried to molest her son, she does not hold back on him and threatens to make him suffer if he didn't confess his crimes.
* NobleBigotWithABadge: She couldn't help but feel prejudice towards humans with the ways they treat the Faunus. Seeing them victim-blame her son enraged her.
* PayEvilUntoEvil: She personally kills the two men who are directly responsible for ruining her life.
* SoProudOfYou: Tells this to Alessandro after he fought off Mr. Atwood and revealed his molestation of several students.

* LivingEmotionalCrutch: To Yang, and vice-versa. He death absolutely shattered Yang, and it’s clear she won’t be the same as she once was.

* TheSociopath: He shows himself to be sadistic and manipulative to his victims. He slaughters without remorse and even for fun. When he confronts Ren, he tries to blame Nora for his rampage to shift guilt onto her. And with his trophy collection and looking back on his rampages with fond memories, he has no remorse for it either.

* AxCrazy: He is gleeful at the idea of slaughtering the hundreds of Huntsmen in Mistral and relishes in the idea of tearing apart Ruby slowly. When he trains with Cinder, he is dismembering the other Grimm.

* DirtyOldMan: Unaware that Sapphire is dead, Carter toys with the idea Pfizer abducting her, psychologically destroying her and turning her into a SexSlave, either selling her to a a “perverted gentlemen” or keeping her for ''himself''.

* KickTheDog: Pretty much every single scene he is in is dedicated to showing he deserved Yang to painfully incinerate him.

* WouldHurtAChild: Left an infant Sapphire to die of starvation and/or dehydration after killing her parents.

* LivingEmotionalCrutch: To Yang, and vice-versa.
