Ironically, he's betrayed and killed because Benawi was being ''noble'', since Benawi was giving him a less painful death than he would have received at the hands of the revolutionaries. * AmbiguousGender: It's hard to be certain whether Dorry & Guraa are male, female, or even one male and one female. It doesn't help matters that the anime lacks the game's scene where they explicitly tell Hakuowlo that they are boys, always portrays them with their tails exposed (which the first five or so episodes portray as something only women do -- indeed, until episode 6 is seen, it's easy to believe that only women ''have'' tails), and their voice is quite hard to place as either masculine or feminine.

* BodyguardCrush: They're both pretty open about their love for Oboro, and claerly don't mind the thought of sharing him.

* UnsettlingGenderReveal: On Hakuowlo in the game, and they seem rather disappointed to hear that he doesn't want them to prove they are men.

* RoaringRampageOfRevenge: [[spoiler:After massacring the remainder of humanity the sane part of his mind asked his surrogate daughter to seal him to stop his rampage after [[OrbitalBombardment nuking him from orbit]] fails to destroy him. She could only split him into [[Yin-YangClash two sides]] to sleep for long periods of time followed by catastrophic battle with himself.]]

* BewareTheNiceOnes: He's nonetheless compassionate for everyone but seeing [[spoiler: Aruruu]] killed by Hauenkua sadistically causes him to transform into Uitsalnemetia and nearly killed Hauenkua as he quickly escapes. Even more so as seen in the flashback before the events of the game when he was known as [[spoiler: Iceman, hearing his lover, Mikoto and his child being dissected sent him into the fury causing him as the beast to curse most of humanity with longevity they desire by turning them into red amoeba-like entities.]]
* ButNowIMustGo: [[spoiler:In the end he is sealed away after having fused with his other half, but not before some tear-filled goodbyes from his former comrades]].

* LastOfHisKind: Hakuowlo is the last [[spoiler:original human. As he also happens to be the host of a god, he's the very cause of the apocalypse that turned the rest into slimes. To the surprise of them, he proved that interbreeding was possible with the new breeds of humans. However, them digging too hard on the process (by capturing and dissecting his wife) is what incurred his wrath. Subverted in the sequels where it's revealed that at least two other original humans somehow survived the apocalypse intact, one of them being the new protagonist.]]
* LockedOutOfTheLoop: Over the course of the game, it seems a decent amount of the party figured out his true identity, including Ulthury, Karulau and possibly Eruruu, [[spoiler:who at least knows he's a giant magic monster]]. None of them want to tell him.

* NotWhatItLooksLike: Kuuya reveals his status as an unmarried king surrounded by beautiful women has given him quite the amourous reputation. The fact that he approved of and ''personally oversees'' Tuskur's red-light district doesn't help.

* WildCard: He is a merchant first and foremost and as such takes no sides, he is just after his payment at the end of the day.

* GrandTheftMe: It possessed the man who would one day become Hakuowlo when he begged to survive. It's stayed with him for potentially thousands of years. Hakuowlo is usually in control, but Uitsalnemetia itself occasionally surfaces. The dark half later winds up possessing Dii, and completely subsumes his personality.

* ForceAndFinesse: She's the pricise finesse to Karulau's force.

* NotSoDifferent: [[spoiler:He brings this trope up to Hien during their final confrontation, noting that he is all too much alike to how Oboro himself used to be in the past]].

* NotSoDifferent: [[spoiler:Dii points out that everything Hakuowlo has done has been as destructive as what he does. Sure, the country of Tuskur prospered, but only by exploiting technology they shouldn't have yet at the expense of all their neighbors.]]

The scientist who was either Hakuowlo's previous incarnation or more accurately a pre-IdentityAmnesia of the man himself. He had a child with Mikoto who unfortunately was killed by the rest of his fellow scientists. Out of grief for the loss of his family [[TraumaticSuperpowerAwakening he]] [[FromNobodyToNightmare became]] Uitsalnemetia.

* ItGetsEasier: He references the trope when he discusses just how it got easier and easier to do all kinds of immoral acts in the name of science. This is something that scares him to the point that he would betray his fellow man if just to ever so slightly lighten the burden on his concience.
* LoopholeAbuse: He can't give Mikoto a proper name and has to refer to her by her number, but nothing is stopping "Iceman" from giving her a name and refering to her as such.
* TokenGoodTeammate: Unlike the other scientists who are driven by either curiosity or desires for immortality and vitality, he is more concerned with "Iceman"'s and Mikotos safety and has grown weary of the actions he has committed in the name of science.
* UncertainDoom: His ultimate fate after he let Iceman and the various Decoys escape is left ambigous.

* AdaptationalWimp: Downplayed in the anime, but while Uitsalnemetia there is by far the most powerful being in the series, it still is nowhere near as powerful as in the games where he is shown to both be able to FlashStep, [[DraggedOffToHell drag his enemies down to god knows where]] to being able to make Abh-Kamus explode with just a touch.
* BeCarefulWhatYouWishFor: The scientists who killed Mikoto mentioned a desire to become immortal. Furious at what happened, Uitsalnemetia decided to grant that wish, and turned them into piles of red sludge that can never die but will live lives of suffering.

* RevengeBeforeReason: His motivation for attacking Tuskur is to confront his villainous brother-in-law, Rakshain, mistakingly believing Hakuowlo to be him despite Rakshain most likely being ''dead'' already. That's how much he hated him. [[spoiler:It's only when the holes in his story are pointed out that he snaps back to his senses and realizes Hakuoro and Rakshain look nothing alike.]] By this point, a lot of innocent people are dead and his country has been ruined to the point that in the end, Kucca Kecca is annexed by Tuskur. All of that for vengeance against ''one'' man.

* SomeAnvilsNeedToBeDropped: InUniverse example. She drops a much needed one on the young leader of the Na Tuunk resistance, Derihourai, after he mocks a dead man for being too weak and becoming a traitor [[note]]The man in question was promised that he could see his family again if he betrayed his group - he was then killed by the enemy leader[[/note]]. She punches Derihourai in the face, asking him why did he think that there were so few of the Giriyagina left despite them being the physically strongest race. According to her it's because they were too strong and gave no thought to the weaker ones beneath them, which ultimately led to their downfall. He doesn't get it so she punches him again into unconsciousness.
