* IThoughtItMeant: Kuuya attempted to give Sakuya to Hakuoro as a mistress but described her housework skills as "Toko jouzu", literally "bed skilled" instead of "Toku jouzu" [[http://tinyurl.com/2g49kzy which is more appropriate]]. It becomes something of a running gag that she only thinks she knows what she's saying in regards to things like the red light district of a city.

[[folder:Witsarnemitea (Unmarked Spoiler Warning)]]
!!Witsarnemitea

The god that most of the people in the game worship, said to be at once generous and jealous, both giving great reward and taking away in equal turn. At first it seems like just a background element, but as the story enters its late phases, Witsarnemitea becomes a central character in its own right.
----
* BeCarefulWhatYouWishFor: The scientists who killed Mikoto mentioned a desire to become immortal. Furious at what happened, Witsarnemitea decided to grant that wish, and turned them into piles of red sludge that can never die but will live lives of suffering.
* CompellingVoice: One of Witsarnemitea's powers. Hakuoro accidentally uses it a few times when stressed out. Near the end of the game, it uses this power to paralyze people to prevent them from interfering, by simply ordering them to "DON'T MOVE".
* CompleteImmortality: Even having all the meat in its body rot off and its skeleton fossilized did not kill Witsarnemitea. At best, it can only be magically sealed after being weakened in combat. This same immortality applies to whatever human vessel it may be possessing.
* GrandTheftMe: It possessed the man who would one day become Hakuoro when he begged to survive. It's stayed with him for potentially thousands of years. Hakuoro is usually in control, but Witsarnemitea itself occasionally surfaces. The dark half later winds up possessing Diy, and completely subsumes his personality.
* JackassGenie: Witsarnemitea likes to grant wishes to mortals who cross its path, but the outcomes of those wishes are rarely good, or carry an extremely heavy price. In most cases it appears that Witsarnemitea actually does want to help people, but in practice it usually causes more harm than good.
* LiteralSplitPersonality: When it went berserk in the distant past upon the death of Mikoto, the man who would one day become Hakuoro desperately tried to fight against that rage. This resulted in half of Witsarnemitea splitting off, creating the Dark God and the White God. The two keep most of their powers, but fly into a blind rage whenever they see each other, since they embody opposing sides of the original being. The two halves are recombined at the end of the story.
* RiddleForTheAges: It's never really explained ''what'' Witsarnemitea is nor where it came from. The earliest known sighting was when the man who would one day become Hakuoro found its ancient, fossilized skeleton buried in the earth, and analysis indicated that it's older than humanity as a species.
* SocialDarwinist: The dark half of Witsarnemitea believes in encouraging war and conflict to weed out the weak and strengthen the various races as a whole.
* TitleDrop: The recombined, whole Witsarnemitea introduces itself as "The one of whom songs are sung", which is what "Utawarerumono" translates to.

The first of the Onkamiyamukai ever created, and possessed of strong psychic powers. She was responsible for sealing away Witsalnemitea when he went on a rampage that the human part of his mind rebelled against, and may have been partially responsible for Witsalnemitea getting split up. Her spirit was somehow bound to the Onkamiyamukai and would occasionally reincarnate, her vessel being marked by the same black wings that she bore in life.

* MercyRewarded: He spares the life of Mutikapa's cub even though the cub could grow up to be another Mutikapa. It doesn't help matters that the anime lacks the game's scene where they explicitly tell Hakuoro that they are boys, always portrays them with their tails exposed (which the first five or so episodes portray as something only women do -- indeed, until episode 6 is seen, it's easy to believe that only women ''have'' tails), and their voice is quite hard to place as either masculine or feminine.

* ACupAngst: When attempting to measure herself up to the other women around Hakuoro, she gets depressed at her rather meager physique. Karura attempts to console her by noting that while she may seem to have a more feminine body, it's actually full of muscle and hard to the touch while Eruruw at least is gentle and soft.

* TheMistress: She really wouldn't mind fulfilling this role for Hakuoro.

* TheMistress: She really wouldn't mind fulfilling this role for Hakuoro.sleeps with Hakuoro at least once and swears herself to him. Whether she continues to do so after that is ambiguous.

* MuscleAngst: She mentions once that while she doesn't seem to be bulging with muscles, as a Giryagina her body has been specialized towards battle since the day she was born and always will be. As such, it has no feminine softness, only hard muscle. How much it actually bothers her is hard to say given her perpetual calm and that she was trying to comfort Eruruw at the time.

* PerpetualSmiler: She almost always has a calm smile, even when talking about how she murdered a bunch of injured slavers because they left their cargo to drown at the bottom of a ship. One of the few times it drops is when chewing out Derihourai for being a dick.

* StepfordSmiler: She usually has a lazy smile on her face, but it doesn't always mask when she's angry or depressed.

* BodyguardCrush: She appoints herself as Hakuoro's bodyguard, which he secretly finds extremely annoying. She also falls in love with him, but more importantly her culture mandates that she bear his child by bringing the strength of a strong lord into the Evenkurga bloodline.

* GeniusDitz: She's an excellent fighter. Too bad she tends to be rather ignorant about anything else than fighting or bodyguarding.

Her growths for all stats are average, but they start out very high and her tech meter is fully filled from the beginning, meaning while you need to spend 1200 points to fill out someone like Karura's, you can instead spend those points to get another 24 points in one of Touka's stats. She also has pretty high HP, meaning she can easily dart about the battlefield. Unfortunately, her speed is somewhat below average, though still not outright ''bad.''

Their beliefs aren't expanded on much, but one thing the women are supposed to do is bear the child of a strong and noble lord, should they swear their loyalty to one. The mother determines the race of children and the Evenkurga wish to be as strong as possible.

* TheMedic: She literally ''cannot'' do anything ''but'' heal others, since her "attack" is her healing. Even her "special technique" simply means she heals even more. She's also pretty squishy given that she requires 80 BP per level, but this is balanced out by her usually being at a higher level than the rest of the party. Plus, eventually you'll have to focus on her defense anyway since magic defense is useless and while her healing ''is'' based on her attack stat, it still doesn't need to be that high to fully heal anyone.

* CountryMouse: She's just a poor village girl and likes it that way. She's very resistant to living a life of luxury with Nuwangi and never seems quite comfortable with palace life at any point in the story.

* FemininityFailure: She tries to act like a proper, calm lady in front of Hakuoro at first, but eventually she just gives up and acts more like the country mouse she is when she realizes Hakuoro both isn't buying it and doesn't really care anyway.
