* FantasticFightingStyle: She's a practitioner of the "Black God One Blade" school, a style eerily similar to the "Eight Leaves One Blade" school used by many previous characters. [[spoiler:To be precise, it's a thousand year-old style that was one of the bases for the Eight Leaves, with Yun Ka-Fai, Shizuna's sensei, wanting the latter school to be the "Sword of Light" to the former school's "Sword of Darkness."]]

Outside of laws and juridictions in Zemuria, lies many mercenaries groups, who take morally grey contracts and participate in many wars and terrorist operations for a living. These groups are known as '''Jaeger Corps''', and one should be extremely careful upon meeting them in public. Many groups exists thorough the continent, but a few of them stands out with a great military might and many resources.

!General Jaeger tropes:

* MixAndMatchWeapon: Elite Jaeger Corps seem rather fond of these, with even some rank and file using certain types such as a combination machinegun and {{BFS}} and if a major character has one, they're usually affiliated with a Jaeger Corps.
* PrivateMilitaryContractors: Jaeger Corps tend to vary between the classic mercenary companies or corporate mercenary folds and are typically dealt with as antagonists. They traditionally have an intense rivalry with the [[AdventureGuild Bracer Guild]] due to the conflicting nature of their line of work (Bracers are independent warriors dedicated to helping and protecting civilians).

A former member known as the "Killing Bear," he left the corps for personal reasons sometime before Fie's adoption.

Fie's adoptive father and leader of Zephyr, one of the most powerful Jaeger corps in Western Zemuria alongside the Red Constellation. Presumed dead after a 3-day battle with Baldur Orlando, leader of said rivaling group before ''Cold Steel I'' begins, he appears alongside Xeno and Leonidas in ''Cold Steel III'' having been mysteriously revived.

* BackFromTheDead: His existence in the game alongside Scarlet Roselia and Azure Siegfried is "something that shouldn't be" according to [[WordOfGod Kondo]]. Seeing that he should've been dead, high chance this trope is in play. [[spoiler:Confirmed that he was resurrected as an 'undead' in order to become the Palatinate Knight's Awakener.]]
* BadassLongcoat: Wears one to denote his status as leader and strongest member of the Corps.
* BifurcatedWeapon: His buster glaive is a sword that can also fire bullets just like Randy's Berserga and Shirley's Testa-Rossa. [[spoiler:It's revealed that the Black Workshop sold both the Red Constellation and Zephyr the weapons that they use.]]

* BloodKnight: Not as blatant as Sigmund or other examples, but was clearky excited when Rean and the other members of Class VII manage to give him a challenge during the Rivalries.

* GoodCounterpart: Or atleast ALighterShadeOfGray to Baldur Orlando, as Rutger is shown to be a NobleDemon and professional who, while capable of getting excited during a great fight, shows some moral compass with little interest in civilian casualties, whereas Baldur was heavily hinted to be just as much of a PsychoForHire as his brother and neice. Also this to their parenting as Rutger was [[EveryoneHasStandards uncomfortable]] with the idea of having Fie join Zephyr as a ChildSoldier and wanted to GiveHerANormalLife, whereas Baldur was an AbusiveParent who forced Randy to go into battlefields since he was as young as 9 with the intention of making him become the next head of the Red Constellation whether he wanted to or not.

* HumongousMecha: He is revealed to be the Awakener of Zector, the Palatinate Divine Knight.

* LimitBreak: [[spoiler:His S-Craft in ''Cold Steel III'' and ''IV'', as well as his finishing move when piloting Zector, is "Gilgamesh Breaker."]]

* NobleDemon: Contracted by the villains, yet still a pretty chill guy who isn't interested in civilian casualties. Especially noticeable compared to other antagonistic Jaegers like [[PsychoForHire Shirley and Sigmund.]][[spoiler:It turns out that it's the fact that he was easier to deal with that led to Alberich reviving him instead of Baldur.]]
* NotSoStoic: [[spoiler: In his last moments before fading away, he has a moment of appearing genuinely touched when Fie calls him 'Dad' for the first time.]]

* OneHandedZweihander: He's capable of holding his buster-glaive with one hand.
* PrivateMilitaryContractors: Formerly the leader of Zephyr, one of the strongest Jaeger Corps on the continent.
* PunchClockVillain: As is fitting for a Jaeger, he's just doing what's in the job description, and is actually pretty friendly otherwise.

* RankScalesWithAsskicking: The leader of one of the strongest Jaeger Corps on the continent and is known as the Jaeger King, with all the strength and skill to back up such a title.
* RedBaron: He's known as "Jaeger King" back when he was still alive. [[spoiler:And when he's technically an undead.]]

* SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome: As awesome as his and Baldur's duel was that lasted for three days and three nights before mutually killing off one another, [[spoiler:it's revealed that even Rutger doubts that he and Baldur could even duel for that long as human beings. Its hinted the Curse had something to do with it.]]
* UnwittingPawn: [[spoiler:He and Baldur end up fighting because of Alberich. He then ends up becoming Zektor's Awakener and isn't happy that Alberich set him and Baldur up.]]
* WeCanRuleTogether: In his first appearance in ''Cold Steel IV'', he offers to recruit Ash into Zephyr, remarking that [[spoiler:with him being a wanted man for shooting the Emperor, even if it was against his will,]] he doesn't have many options or places to go, with Randy remarking that he's recruited other members of Zephyr who were in simolar situations. He gets rebuffed, but doesn't take it too badly.
* WorldsStrongestMan: He and Baldur Orlando were considered the two strongest jaegers to have ever lived. In battle, he shows that he isn't known as the 'Jaeger King' for nothing.
* WorthyOpponent: Outright calls Rean and Class VII this near the end of 'Cold Steel IV', claiming he hasn't had such a good fight since Baldr.

A relatively new Jaeger Corps. consisting of dropouts from other corps.

A prominent Jaeger Corps. active in Western Zemuria. They are elaborated further in the mobile game ''Akatsuki no Kiseki''.

Former solders of the fallen Principality of North Ambria, they turned to the Jaeger lifestyle fairly recently in order to earn money to help rebuild their homeland. They are unfortunately the only functioning part of the North Ambrian economy, which creates ''enormous'' problems for North Ambria in the aftermath of the Erebonian Civil War.

* WellIntentionedExtremist: North Ambria is a very poor nation, due to the effects of the Salt Pale incident that ravaged it decades ago. The Northern Jaegers were formed as a way to provide money for the nation. Unfortunately, they are willing to do anything for anyone, as shown with their contract with Duke Albarea during Erebonia's civil war. In ''Cold Steel II'', they're the Jaegers responsible for the attack on Ymir and the arson of Celdic.

* ColorMotifs: Red, denoting their [[PrivateMilitaryContractors profession,]] the [[RedIsViolent temperament of it's leadership]], the [[FieryRedHead hair color of the family,]] and their status as [[LawOfChromaticSuperiority the strongest mercenaries on the continent]].
* CoolAirship: Gains the ''Beowulf'', a deadly combat airship in ''Azure'' [[spoiler:as part of their contract with Dieter Crois]] which they put to use to deadly effect.
* ElitesAreMoreGlamorous: One of the most powerful and well equipped Jaeger Corps in the series with access to some of the most cutting edge equipment. They are also stated to be rather wealthy, as it's stated several of their missions charge fees into millions of Mira, with their contract in ''Azure'' to [[spoiler:act as Chancellor Osborne's security detail during the trade conference]] netting them ''100 million'' mira.
* LawOfChromaticSuperiority: One of the most powerful Jaeger Corps in the continent, and their uniform is bright red.
* LegitimateBusinessmensSocialClub: They own the business Crimson & Co as a front for their organization, managing several luxurious clubs and hotels such as the Neue Blanc club in Crossbell to fund their missions and gain access to cutting edge weapons and equipment.
* ScaryScorpions: Their Corps Insignia is based on the Scorpio constellation, and are one of the deadliest Jaeger Corps in the setting.

* ActionDad: A dark example, as he was the one who trained his daughter Shirley so that she would follow in his footsteps as a Jaeger.

* DeathFromAbove: His S-Craft is called "Crimson Fall;" you get one guess what it involves.

* TheDreaded: When the SSS find out about him and discuss how to deal with him with the Bracer Guild, they ask [[MasterSwordsman Arios]] how strong Sigmund is compared to him. Arios' response? A clash between the two of them could go ''either way''. He proves him right.

* DubNameChange: His nickname in the original Japanese version "Ogre Rosso" was changed to ''The Scarlet Ogre'' in the official localization.

* GeniusBruiser: He may not be interested in holding long discussions on political philosophy or the underpinnings of orbments but he's not dumb muscle by any stretch of the imagination.

* LargeAndInCharge: A Sub-Commander of The Red Constellation, he's ''huge'' and all of it is muscle. [[spoiler:And the 'Sub-' bit was only true until Baldur died, now he's ''the'' Commander]].
* LimitBreak: His S-Craft, "Crimson Fall", has him throw his axes through his opponents before leaping up into the air, catching the axes, joining them together into a single poleaxe, and dropping down on his foes with enough force to make the ground erupt.

* MyRulesAreNotYourRules: He has a Craft called "Ogre Cry" which is a superpowered version of Randy's "Warcry II." It not only does it grant him a full 200 CP, but also buffs his Strength stat without sacrificing any of his HP to perform. To say this move is cheap would be an understatement. The fact that he always follows it up with a now-buffed "[[LimitBreak Crimson Fall]]" just makes it worse. Justified, as Sigmund has been on battlefield for way longer than Randy.

* OutOfFocus: Despite ''not'' dying after the showdown in the [[spoiler:Azure Tree]], he never shows up onscreen in future installments, only alluded to every now and then by his daughter or other members of Ouroboros. This is jarring as he is the most powerful jaeger currently alive ([[spoiler:the Jaeger King's temporary revival nonwithstanding]]).
* PrivateMilitaryContractors: The Orlando family are the leaders of The Red Constellation, the most powerful and feared Jaegers in western Zemuria. The only group that can rival them are Zephyr, and they disbanded with their leader's death.

* RankScalesWithAsskicking: Second-in-command turned commander of the deadliest Jaeger corps on the continent, and to be expected, is an absolute beast on the battlefield the SSS barely survive against.
* RedBaron: "The Scarlet Ogre." Takes up his late brother's title of "The War God" after taking up command of the Corps.

* SimpleYetAwesome: While others Jaegers like to use sophisticated weapons allowing both close and ranged combat, Sigmund simply use a pair of axes.

A brigade leader of the Red Constellation, she is Sigmund's daughter and Randy's younger cousin. Her combat prowess is exceptional, and she is feared throughout Western Zemuria as "Bloody Shirley."

* AxCrazy: How crazy is she? Her first thought at seeing the newly unveiled Orchis Tower is "Can we blow it up?". Also, her nickname is ''[[NamesToRunAwayFromReallyFast Bloody Shirley]]'' and her Crafts include such charming names as "Bloody Cross," "Blood Storm," and "Death Parade."

* DrillSergeantNasty: As shown in ''Reverie'', [[spoiler:Shirley expose Cedric to [[TrainingFromHell good old jaeger training]] in order to shape him into an Enforcer. Even when Gilbert disrupt the training out of anger after his defeat and bring out his G-Apache, Shirley prevent Gareth from intefering in order to challenge Cedric further.]]

* LimitBreak: Her S-Craft in "Death Parade" in ''Azure'', and "Disaster of Maja"/"Macha's Curse" in ''Cold Steel III'' and ''IV''. Both involve unleashing all of her weapon's features on the target.
* NamesToRunAwayFromVeryFast: Both her epithets, ''Bloody Shirley'' and ''Sanguine Ogre'', make it clear she isn't someone to mess with considering her combat prowess and AxCrazy attitude.
