* DarkIsEvil: The main reason that he refuses to become a Demon Lord, at first at least. is under the belief that he will turn evil once he becomes one, due to the association of the title Demon Lord with Evil. [[spoiler: It gets deconstructed as, after he becomes one out of necessity, Rimuru is still the same kindhearted and selfless being he was before.]]

* CluelessChickMagnet: He doesn't seem to understand that he's very, very popular. By the end of the web novel even Milim seems to be joining in out of the blue. Even when he does seem to get it he wonders what the point is given that he has no sex.

* CelibateHero: Though he indeed [[NoBiologicalSex doesn't have biological sex]] in his current form, he can [[{{Shapeshifting}} easily modify himself]] to get the attributes back, but in the end ([[ForgotAboutHisPowers when he finally remembers that]]) admits that it'd be more hassle that it's worth.
* ChekhovsGun: Those curing potions he brewed inside himself in those first months before meeting Veldora. Turns out, due to the dragon's magic power the resources in the cave were incredibly pure and potent, and thanks to the Rimuru's unique skill he was able to utilize them to the full potential, resulting in the vaunted Full Restore potion, able not only to heal any mortal wound but also to regenerate lost limbs. Which is an incredibly valuable resource, and, once Vesta was able to reproduce it, one of the Tempest chief exports. Just as an example, the normal healing potion most adventurers are able to afford is only able to heal light to medium wounds and is usually manufactured by diluting the somewhat weaker Restore potions[[note]]Which itself can be made by diluting Full Restore 5 times.[[/note]] 10 times.

* DarkIsNotEvil: He has dark flames, demonic wings, and [[spoiler:became a demon lord]] and wears a black outfit later in the series, but is still a noble hearted hero.

* GameplayAutomation: [[spoiler: His "Auto Battle Mode" amounts to a rare non video game example of this with shades of SplitPersonalityTeam. In order to take full advantages of his combat capabilities against the Orc Lord, Rimuru can hand over control of his body to [[BenevolentAI Great Sage]] who understands Rimuru's own abilities better than he himself does.]]

* GoodIsNotSoft: A big part of the reason Rimuru has earned his people's loyalty, respect and love is because he ''is'' a genuine NiceGuy who'll extend a helping hand without hesitation. Even if you come at him at an enemy he'll forgive you if it was a misunderstanding or you apologize (after roughing you up a bit). But if you refuse his mercy or, God forbid, ''kill'' his subjects, he will end you without hesitation.

* HeroicSacrifice: Satoru died [[TakingTheBullet protecting his friend from a knife wielding maniac]].

* MatterReplicator: He's basically a living one as his Predator skill allows him to consume, analyze and reproduce practically anything. This is demonstrated when he refines magical ore into pure magisteel and healing herbs into highly powerful healing potions but illustrated the best when he consumes Kaijin's high quality magical blade and produces twenty copies on the spot.
* MarshmallowHell: Upon meeting a group of elf girls, they all hug and squeeze him tightly, pressing him against their big breasts. Though it's anything ''but'' hell for him, in fact by his own admission he's in ''heaven''.

* PopCulturedBadass: As a result of having been an otaku in his past life, Rimuru is well-versed in video-games and manga, and likes quoting ''Dragon Quest''[='=]s "I'm not a bad slime!" line.

* PowerPerversionPotential: Attempted and ultimately defied. At one point he uses his new Doppelganger skill from Ifrit to make a copy of his new human form and uses magic to make it look more like an adult woman. He's ecstatic for about a split second before he's very quickly filled with shame and sorrow when he realizes the clone now resembles the recently deceased Shizue and turns it back into a slime.

* {{Shapeshifting}}: Can take the form of every creature he devoured. Most come from eating fallen enemies but his human form was gained after eating the dying Shizue who asked him to as her dying wish.

* TranquilFury: [[spoiler: After the incident where several of his followers were killed, Rimuru is so boiling with rage that he accidently activated his aura and had to put his Anti-Demon mask in order to repress it, and yet the mask started cracking. However, Rimuru manages to stay composed and even reasonable enough to refuse to kill Myulan, who was partially to blame for the situation, and even apologizes before arresting her (it helps that Myulan simply casted an Anti-Magic Barrier that prevented magic from interfering within the city which played no part in the massacre). He also refuses to involve the human merchants in his upcoming war against the ones to blame out of fear of being responsible for more deaths.]]

* UnskilledButStrong: Veldora observes from within him he's exceptionally strong but ignorant of his capabilities. He doesn't realize there is no need to consume targets to use Predator, just touch and corrode them. Further he could have easily reacquired the ability to taste along with speech if he replicated the giant bat's tongue as well.
** Lampshaded by Rimuru himself when he notes that the newly named Kijin inherited and learned skills from Rimuru that best fit their own inherent skills and experiences whereas Rimuru has little understanding of his own vast strength and plethora of skills. [[spoiler:That's where "Auto Battle Mode" comes in handy.]]
* VirginPower: Being a near 40 year old virgin was the reason he gained the unique skill "Great Sage" after reincarnating; mostly due to him [[InvokedTrope Invoking]] it while dying. This is a reference to the Japanese folk belief that remaining a virgin to 30 or 40 years of age gives a man magic powers.

* YouGottaHaveBlueHair: Blueish-silver hair, to be precise, which matches with the color of his slime form.

* PleaseKillMe: [[spoiler: Before going on his way to gain the number of souls necessary to become a Demon Lord, he pleads Benimaru to kill him if he turns into a monster after the ritual is complete. Benimaru accepts, but he convince Rimuru that this will only occur if they can prove that Rimuru is no longer himself.]]

The King of the country of Tempest. Once a human named Satoru Mikami, he was reincarnated into a slime after his death. He is somewhat naïve for a king, and peace loving, still he tries his best to rule as a good king.

* CutenessProximity: The Elf girls all squee over how cute he is and hug him tightly, while secretly he's all too delighted at having their breasts pressed against him. In fact, Oni girls find him extremely cute as well.

* TheAssimilator: Gains most of his skills by absorbing the bodies of his enemies with his Predator skill. Later on it evolves into Gluttony where his chance of gaining skills and his range of targets is increased. [[spoiler:Gluttony later evolves into Gluttonous King Beelzebub where he is able to absorb everything including the soul of his target for skill gain]].

* FeelNoPain: His Pain Nullification skill ensures that he won't feel pain from attacks, though it doesn't stop him from being damaged. Luckily, his [[HealingFactor Self-Regeneration skill]] as a slime makes up for it.

* BarbieDollAnatomy: His human form has no genitals.

* InvincibleHero: ''Starts'' as one, though this gets quickly subverted, because while the world [[TrappedInAnotherWorld he gets reincarnated]] into ''[[SerialNumbersFiledOff strongly resembes]]'' ''Franchise/DragonQuest'', he "plays" it not as an RPG, but as a 4X game. Which both means that, first, being ridiculously overpowered is only expected, and, second, he quickly gets matched with the equally OP peers and opponents.

His first "true" fight with [[PlayingWithFire Ifrit]] has him trying to dodge the monster and his summons' fire attacks, only to [[ForgotAboutHisPowers realize]] after being caught off-guard and hit dead-on near the end that he has [[NoSell Fire Resistance and wouldn't have been hurt anyways]].
