The younger twin of Jaina Solo, Jacen was born shortly after his sister during the campaign of Grand Admiral Thrawn. As he grew older, he became concerned with the direction of the Jedi Order, fearing that any aggression or even violent defensive action could send the whole Order to the Dark Side. He eventually decided that some evil had to be fought, and after being captured by the Yuuzhan Vong and tutored by Vergere, he developed a new philosophy in which how the Force was used did not matter, but the intent behind it. After helping end the Yuuzhan Vong War, Jacen went on a five year odyssey across the galaxy, training with numerous Force using groups. During this time, he had a vision of his unborn daughter Allana standing side-by-side with a "Dark Man" and ruling the galaxy. He set out to stop it any way he could, eventually falling to the Dark Side and becoming Darth Caedus, taking over the Galactic Alliance in the process. He was killed by Jaina in a duel at the end of the Second Galactic Civil War, but had successfully altered the future of the galaxy, preventing Allana from falling to the Dark Side.

He tried to forget about it after she was rescued by the Jedi, but in his final moments, he warned Tenel Ka to save their daughter from the Imperial nanovirus attack.

* FauxAffablyEvil: Zig-zags between this and genuinely AffablyEvil after his fall. There are moments where his inner kindness springs out but this often masks Jacen's newfound viciousness and paranoia.

* KickTheSonOfABitch: Does this to Ta'a Chume, who had a list of crimes a mile wide.

* LaserBlade: Used a green bladed lightsaber for most of his life, until Luke and Ben took it from him after the duel on the ''Anakin Solo''. He then forged a red bladed lightsaber to replace it.

* MotiveDecay: Once he becomes a Sith Lord, despite his efforts to avoid it. Unusually, he comes to recognise it and puts himself back onto the path of a WellIntentionedExtremist.
* PapaWolf: Jacen's reason for turning to the Dark Side dealt with this trope: he was trying to prevent a future where his daughter Allana would either be enslaved or act as the right-hand woman to the Dark Man (strongly implied to be Darth Krayt) in the event that he succeeded in gaining the Throne of Balance instead of Allana.

Formerly the Jedi apprentice of Thracia Con Leem, Vergere discretely studied sources outside of what the Jedi Order approved, and her waning loyalty led to her getting recruited by Count Dooku along with other rogue Jedi to Darth Sidious' side. However, after making a failed attempt on Sidious's life, Vergere fled to the world of Zonama Sekot, where she would then be found by the Yuuzhan Vong.

A secret Sith Order created by Darth Krayt, who believed Darth Sidious's Rule of Two was flawed. Instead, Krayt imposed his own doctrine on his group — Rule of One, where the Sith Order is rebuilt to its large numbers as it used to have in the past, but all serve one Dark Lord of the Sith. While the New Republic and New Jedi Order were preoccupied by the threats posed by Lumiya, Caedus, and Vergere, Krayt developed his organization in secret before revealing themselves to the galaxy [[ComicBook/StarWarsLegacy a hundred years later.]]

* DualWielding: When she fights Luke in the finale of the ''Literature/DarkNestTrilogy'', she used a white-bladed lightsaber and a purple-bladed shoto.

[[ComicBook/TalesOfTheJedi Five thousand years before the Battle of Yavin]], a warship carrying members of the Sith Empire was ambushed and crash-landed on Kesh. Stranded on a world without advanced technology that had never made contact with the greater galaxy, this lost tribe of Sith became worshipped by the natives and adjusted to their new lives on Kesh… until a few millennia later, when Ship discovered the descendants of the group and caught them up to speed.

A Keshiri Sith Lord who was dispatched to Dathomir to capture the Nightsisters and learn all he could from them. Luke Skywalker attempted to stop him, but Gaalan managed to hold him off long enough to board a shuttle and escape.

* MasterSwordsman: One of the few Sith to duel Luke and live.

A top-secret project ordered by Grand Admiral Thrawn before his death, producing clones from the DNA of Palpatine combined with other Force-sensitives, including Mara Jade, Kyle Katarn, Lumiya, Jaden Korr, and Kam Solusar. Kept in isolation, the clones went mad.

* EvilMentor: He's revealed to be this for Finn, as his lessons were intended toe eventually making him embrace his anger and desire for vengeance.

* ByronicHero: Long before his fall to the dark side, Jacen had already begun adopting a somewhat cynical yet also introspective and philosphical outlook on the universe, especially during [[Literature/NewJediOrder Traitor]]'', having come to the conclusion with his mentor Vergere that there was no light side or dark side. It was all about the intent behind the power, deciding to have an all-encompassing unconditional love for the universe, even going as far to find Zonoma Sekot, the living planet which was the key to the Yuuzhan Vong War ending without genocide. However, this selflessness led him to become a WellIntentionedExtremist in trying to prevent widespread anarchy, alienating his family.

* ByronicHero: Before he even fell to the Dark Side, Jacen had already begun adopting a somewhat cynical yet also introspective and philosphical outlook on the universe.

* DarthVaderClone: A borderline DistaffCounterpart to the original. Presumably because Marvel wanted to make a new major antagonist to fill the void.

Originally an agent of the Galactic Empire named Shire Brie, the woman later known as Lumiya was tasked by Darth Vader with [[TheMole infiltrating]] the Rebel Alliance to sabotage Luke Skywalker. Shira developed a relationship with him until, during a mission involving stolen [=TIE] Fighters, Luke accidentally shot her down. She was later rescued by Vader and reborn as Lumiya, who would proclaim herself Dark Lady of the Sith following the [[Film/ReturnOfTheJedi Battle of Endor]]. She clashed with Luke several times before disappearing from the public eye. Decades later, she became an EvilMentor for Jacen, before being killed by Luke in a RoaringRampageOfRevenge following the murder of his wife, Mara.

* AnArmAndALeg: Loses one of his arms in a duel with his sister. He refuses to have it surgically reattached, believing the lengthy period of recuperation such a procedure would require was a luxury he couldn't afford.
