By the present day, his head is gone and has now has been replaced with an ethereal flame. When he films a broadcast throughout the Canopy Kingdom to address the recent Skullgirl in the Webcomic, he conceals his head using an Egret helmet in order to keep his decapitation a secret.

Added DiffLines:

* UnexplainedRecovery: The last time the public knew he was alive was during the war against queen Nancy with Franz decapitated in the process of dealing the killing blow to his wife. After this, he has an ethereal flame in the place where his head used to be and hides his survival from most of the kingdom until Marie becomes the Skullgirl and addresses them through a broadcast in the Webcomic, albeit while wearing a helmet to hide his decapitation from the public. The woman filming the broadcast even lampshades this by asking one of the soldiers about how he died during the war. [[spoiler:The ending of Marie's story mode when she is addressing everyone who died from the Skull Heart includes King Franz with the flame on his head, heavily implying that he may actually be an undead like Squigly now with his wife's living weapon being the only thing keeping him alive.]]

!!Tropes associated with Minette:
* BitCharacter: Appears in Ms. Fortune's story and as a background character in the Little Innsmouth stage.
* CuteClumsyGirl: Her proposed playstyle is based off this.
* CuteMonsterGirl: She's quite a bit more human looking than most of the other Dagonians.
* DamselOutOfDistress: Her story mode (If she is SavedForTheSequel that is) [[spoiler:tells of her attempts to escape her kidnapping at the end of Ms. Fortune's story mode.]]
* FightingClown: She's been described as playing similarly to [[VideoGame/MarvelVsCapcom3 Phoenix Wright]]'s partner Maya (inflicting damage via means of clumsiness), except not being bad.
* FishPeople: Though her "hair" is more evocative of a tadpole's tail.
%%* HeroWorshipper: To [[CoolBigSis Ms. Fortune]].
* TheUglyGuysHotDaughter: Minette is the River King's daughter. If the logo of his casino -- and the giant (possibly ''life-size'') statue of him in the Casino stage -- are accurate, she looks ''nothing'' like him. (The River King, to be blunt, looks like a humpback whale with a giant John Greenleaf Whittier chinstrap beard.)
* VagueAge: Gives the impression of being around the same age as Ms. Fortune, but she appears to look up to Nadia as if she were a big sister. The fact she works as a waitress and the Medici goons consider it ok to hit on her suggest she's at least around the same age as Filia and Painwheel.

[[folder: Annie's Mother]]
[[quoteright:1000:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/annies_mom_skullgirl.jpg]]
[[caption-width-right:1000:"But even a wish for purity... isn't pure."]]

The mother of Annabella, a.k.a Annie of the Stars. Under unclear circumstances, she found the Skull Heart and wished that her beloved daughter would always remain a child so as to never lose her innocence. Her wish was granted and Annabella was made eternally youthful, but she turned into the Skullgirl.
------
* BraidsOfAction: Wore her hair in two massive braids.
* BloodIsTheNewBlack: The hem of her dress is all bloody.
* ChildrenAreInnocent: Must've believed this, since her wish was that Annie would never be sullied by the CrapsackWorld of adulthood. Unfortunately, even if Annie didn't grow up ''physically'', she did grow old ''mentally'', and by the time of the present has become jaded and cynical.
* FromNobodyToNightmare: Prior to becoming the Skullgirl, she seems to have been an ordinary peasant woman.
* NoNameGiven: She's simply Annie's Mother.
* ImpersonationExclusiveCharacter: Our only glimpse of her comes from Double trying to give a ShapeshifterGuiltTrip to Annie.
* ParentsAsPeople: She genuinely loved her daughter and wanted to protect her innocence, but in the process not only made sure that Annie would lose her as she had to be put down after becoming the Skullgirl, but caused her to experience WhoWantsToLiveForever.
* SmallRoleBigImpact: She never appears herself and died centuries ago, but she's the reason Annie is an immortal Skullgirl-hunting MagicalGirlWarrior.
