* AsskickingEqualsAuthority: He's absolutely convinced that the most powerful man should be the one to rule Japan, which is why he's so set on gaining more power.

* EverythingsBetterWithPenguins: Her favorite animal along with rabbits, as stated in the first Character Talk CD. When she has to create an ImagineSpot date, it's just about penguins.

* NamesTheSame: His name [[Creator/HikaruMidorikawa sounds familiar]] to say the least.

* RealityWarper: Some type of it. The Will of the Universe explains to him at all enemies he faced were the result of his desire to fight evil progressively escalating. However, the Will also tells him that the word "Flamenco" is a universal wish word with a tiny chance to grant wishes. The imply cation is that this caused it.

* [[ArmorPiercingSlap Armor Piercing Punch]]: Delivers one to Mari, when she has taken enough of her selfishness in Episode 15.

* OnlySaneMan: When compared to Mari and Moe.

* [[HeWhoMustNotBeSeen She Who Must Not Be Seen]]: We don't even know her appearance, or her voice.

* RapunzelHair: She has long hair, up until Sawada cuts it.

* YouGottaHaveBlueHair: She and Midorikawa are the only characters with unrealistic hair colors.

* NotSoDifferent: With Goto. Both have their biggest struggles regarding love. For Masayoshi it's [[WhatIsThisThingYouCallLove his lack of understanding of it]], and Goto is LovingAShadow.
** Also, both come from [[FriendlessBackground Friendless Backgrounds]], [[FridgeBrilliance which is why they end up spending so much time together]] in the beginning of the anime.

* NotSoDifferent: If his starry-eyed reaction to being saved by Harakiri Sunshine in Episode 14 is any indication, he still harbored some love for superheroes too.

* RealityEnsues: When Masayoshi "ended all evil" it was those supernatural occurrences caused by his own will/wish. Haiji is a very mundane person who shows that evil is something that can be found in even an unremarkable person. Masayoshi defeating "evil" doesn't mean the world will suddenly become perfect.

** Her last text message to her before she disappeared. Goto really lost it when Sawada deleted it.

* ButNotTooForeign: According to WordOfGod in the audio commentary from the BDs, he's 1/4 Spanish (possibly from his grandmother, who was a Flamenco dancer).

* OddFrienship: Straight faced police officer Goto and Otako vigilante wannabe Masayoshi seems very weird at the beginning. Towards the end it is revealed they are actually pretty similar, which makes it more clear how they hit off so quickly.

* {{Expy}}: His transformed self is one of IronMan.

** ZettaiRyouiki: Grade A in her idol costume.

* ZettaiRyouiki: Grade A as Flamenco Sapphire.

* ContrastingSequelAntagonist: Well not of the sequel, but contrasts dramatically with every previous mayor villain. The others were all bombastic and over the top evils, Haiji is at best a kid who can teleport and at worst a mundane school boy with a calculating mind. Despite this, he manages to get under Masayoshi's skin and damages his mental health far more severely than any if the horrible monsters he faced before.

* BiTheWay: She's in a physical relationship with Moe but is also quite attracted to Goto.
