Might be a twofer since it was popularized in the U.S. by Wrestling/CMPunk, who used to date Bennett's wife Maria, and whose other FinishingMove is called "Go to Sleep" (and is also another Japanese move, innovated by Wrestling/KentaKobayashi).
* ThatManIsDead: After taking out trainee/ring crew member "Cheeseburger," and his own manager "Brutal" Bob Evans, [[EvenEvilHasStandards who had tried to stop him]], on the July 13 (taped June 23), 2013 show, he cut a promo that ended with, "'The Prodigy' is dead!"
* TheBusCameBack: After being fired from WWE in 2020, he returned to ROH as a Face, teaming up with his friend Matt Taven to reform The Kingdom, now known as The OGK.
** PutOnABus: However, he didn't stay for long again as his contract got expired in 2021.
* TheRival: Against Kevin Steen revolving around piledrivers. Bennett was banned from doing them after losing in a stretcher match to Steen.

* TheWorfEffect: Had been in dark matches until the 2008 "Proving Ground", where his defeat of Rhett Titus awarded him with a chance to show what he could do on camera. He was squashed by Daniel Puder in 26 seconds. This squash was seemingly so devastating (or his "Proving Ground" performances so underwhelming) that Bennett wouldn't be seen in ROH again for another two years.

* AlphaBitch: Claimed he never hung out with Hanson despite them coming from the same town because he was too pretty to be associated with Hanson. He never grew out of it, as he made it his mission to let The Young Bucks know they'd never be able to date the girls he takes home.
* AscendedExtra: Prior to teaming with Bennett he was only in dark matches and even afterwards he was a jobber who lost his chance at a contract to QT Marshall. Then came the Top Prospect Tournament and television title.
* BorrowedCatchPhrase: On the basis Raymond Rowe was a "jailbird" Taven said he "wouldn't believe his tongue if it was notarized."
* {{Catchphrase}}: "He's I, and I'm him and I'm Matt Taven!"
* CatchphraseInsult: Often says "Melvins" to anyone he doesn't like. For those curious, "Melvin" means either "dork", "ugly" or "uncoool". Even as a Face, he still manages to say this, but exclusively to Heels.
* CasanovaWannabe: Besides the "official" Hoopla Hotties, Taven was often seen with many different women on his arm. It turned out there were so many because they kept dumping him and being replaced by new women Seleziya Sparx found to hook up with him.
* CombatCommentator: Spent many a show on at the commentary table in between his injury, the breakup of The Kingdom and finding replacements for the group.
* {{Corpsing}}: InUniverse. He fails to suppress a laugh while listening to Scarlet Bordeaux introduce Solo Darling.

* HeelFaceTurn: Even though he competed mainly as a Heel since his debut, being betrayed by Vincent is what allowed him to turn Face for the first, and so far, only time in ROH.

* LongHairedPrettyBoy: A good way to set Taven off is to get something in his hair, preferably something sticky. He can talk for a little while about the effort he puts into his "beautiful" mane. Subverted when he later spots short hair.
* MrFanservice: What he thinks he is. He does have a section of purple wearing, Taven loving {{Fangirl}}s who attend the ROH events just to see him, to his credit.
* NoIndoorVoice: The way he says his aforementioned catchphrase often gets into the nerves of anyone he meets.
* PurpleIsPowerful: His wrestling costume has purple all over it and is a competent wrestler, when he actually does it.
* PutOnABus: With ROH on hiatus and his contract expired in 2021, he's currently taking luck in the independent circuit, National Wrestling Alliance, and most notably, Impact Wrestling, the latter invading it back as a Heel.
* RedBaron: The self styled "Bad boy from Boston", "Must See TV" and recently "The Trend".
* RedemptionQuest: After losing the ROH World Heavyweight championship to Rush and being betrayed by Vinny, now known as Vincent, he admitted being an uncaring and selfish person during the time he led The Kingdom and promised himself to be better from now on. This is the basis of his 2019-2021 Face run.
* SitcomArchnemesis: Often pokes fun of commentator Ian Riccabonni, to the point of calling him "Riccaboner".

** After becoming the ROH Television Champion he insisted on being announced as "The Only Super Duper Star".
** Taven made is ring return in Mexico for CMLL, claiming he was the most decorated wrestler in ROH history. He did alright, but after failing to win The NWA World Historic Middleweight belt from Ultimo Guerrero, Taven stormed back to the US and started using [[FinishingMove the Guerrero Special]], daring Ultimo Guerrero to come to the US and do something about it.
* TheCameo: Given he announced it as ''{{Film/Ghostbusters|2016}} Featuring Matt Taven'' he seems to think he was more along the lines of a Guest Star. He was also on ''Creeps Show''.

They started as junior heavyweights at best, being around 180 and 190 lbs and indeed NOAH did push them as a junior team. Around the time of their New Japan debuts Mark was at 229, Jay at 231, and thus competed for the IWGP Heavyweight belts instead.

* MotorMouth: Defeated [[Wrestling/TheWorldsGreatestTagTeam Wrestling's Greatest Tag Team (Shelton Benjamin and Charlie Haas)]] for the [[http://www.wrestling-titles.com/us/roh/roh-t.html ROH World Tag Team Titles]] at ''ROH Final Battle 2011'', December 23, 2011. On the following episode of ROH TV, Wrestling/JimCornette, a legendary MotorMouth himself, attempted to interview them, and ''they'' talked so much that even ''he'' couldn't get in a word.
* TheNicknamer: Papa Briscoe is Big Man, Mark Briscoe is Chicken, Team Ambition is Team Jiu Jitsu, The Young Bucks are The Hottest Babes In Pro Wrestling, [[Wrestling/TheColonyWrestling Fire Ant]] is Gotdurn June Bug, Wrestling/{{UltraMantis Black}} is [[SomewhereAnEntomologistIsCrying Black Pelican]], Toru Yano is Main Man.
* NoSell: During The Decade challenge to wrestle Adam Page, Colby Corino grabbed one of BJ Whitmer's crutches and hit Jay. It had little effect and Corino became apologetic but provided enough distraction for Page to use a chair, which Briscoe ''did'' sell.
* PatrioticFervor:Jay's personal "World" Title belt was adorned with Union and Confederate flags.
* PowerTrio: When they brought in the Never Openweight Six Man Tag Team Titles they won with Toru Yano. Then they dethroned The Kingdom to hold the ROH World Six Man Title belts with [[Wrestling/TheDudleyBoys Bully Ray]].
* PrettyFlyForAWhiteGuy: Not their gimmick, but new fans to ROH have consistently expressed surprise at how "ghetto" they, especially Jay, are after expecting them to act more like rednecks. This can again be explained by them being from Delaware, while most people think "Southern US" when they think redneck. That, and Mark claims most of their friends are black.

** Jay Briscoe cut a promo for the 2012 tag team tournament in Milwaukee wearing a "Powerhouse Gym" shirt and then admitted that he, like Kevin Steen, [[ImmediateSelfContradiction doesn't go to the gym]]. Dem Boys got in shape from working, so Jay can eat like Steen without getting fat, he has a good excuse not to be going to the gym.
** Mark Briscoe got a tractor stuck when trying to move a dog house from his dad's yard to his own(we've all been in that situation, right?) and so turned it into a commercial for Stihl Weadeater(with attachable blade) as he get the straps loose.
* RatedMForManly: The Briscoes exude masculine grit and toughness, and it is NOT just posturing either. They're Wrestling/RingOfHonor's longest running and most consistently present examples of what it means to be badass.
* RedBaron: Dem boys..."[[OneSteveLimit The Boys]]" following Dalton Castle really deflated it. Castle decided to host Halloween 2016 as one of Dem Boys with Mark in turn as one of ''The'' Boys.
* RealMenLoveJesus: Jay Briscoe doesn't care if Kevin Steen is the {{antichrist}} of pro wrestling cause dem God fearing country boys are gonna beat the hell out of his and Wrestling/{{Jimmy|Jacobs}}'s asses.
* RedOniBlueOni: Jay is Red, Mark is Blue.
* RevengeBeforeReason: Jay wanted revenge against Dalton Castle's boys for getting him misted by EVIL, costing them their match against Los Ingobernables De Japon at ''War Of The Worlds'', to the point he gave into Castle's request for a Six Man title shot at ''Best In The World''. While The Boys were guilty of sabotaging his team with their interference, Jay failed to realize it'd make more sense to pursue the more malicious perpetrator, EVIL!
* RevengeByProxy: They were at first grateful to be invited for a week's worth of free "developmental" in the {{reviv|al}}ed version of Florida Championship Wrestling in 2009, but the wrestlers there aside from their fellow ROH, CZW etc alumni looked down on their independent circuit work and then the Briscoes were sent home and told they were rejected by [[Wrestling/JohnLaurinaitis Johnny Ace]] over the phone for cosmetic reasons. So they were a little upset and decided since they had the Wrestling's Greatest Tag Team at ''Final Battle'' 2011 they were going get their catharsis by beating on Shelton Benjamin, whom they said represented everything they didn't like about the experience.
* SiblingTeam: What, you thought they ''weren't'' really brothers?
* SmokingIsCool: Jay will wear a tank top out in the cold to disguise the fact it's his breath instead of smoke you're seeing. That said, he will light a "brutal bob". He went to that length with the cigar because it was Big Man's.
* StartMyOwn: Since Jay was forced to relinquish to the World Championship belt due to injury, he proclaimed he never lost the title and started coming out with his own belt after Adam Cole became the new World Champion. Adam Cole would conspire to put Jay's belt in Matt Hardy's hands, who put his face on it, then in Mike Bennett's, who dedicated it to his love of Maria Kanellis.
* StraightMan: Wild as they are, both of them are to Yano

** There are two of them and three Kings Of Wrestling. Solution? Find [[Wrestling/KiaStevens Amazing Kong]]!
** More recently, since the Kingdom consisted of Adam Cole, Mike Bennett, Matt Taven, and Maria Kanellis... they got back up from back up none other than ODB!
* UndyingLoyalty: Both to each other and to ROH. Jay debuted at 18, meaning for his entire adult life he's wrestled for ROH. Mark is, of course, younger than Jay, and accompanied him in the beginning until he turned 18 and could also wrestle. They have worked for other companies, of course, but they always come back to ROH, with the vow to help make it the best, and nine times out of ten, they have stood together in the process. There were a few times they got competitive with each other, including a short feud before they became an official tag team in ROH (during which Mark briefly aligned himself with Daniels and the Prophecy, btw) and a stint where Mark went after Jay's ROH World Championship, but those would always be resolved with the two getting back on the same page in short order. And angles aside, the only time Jay voluntarily left ROH was in 2004 when Mark was injured in a motorcycle accident and he barely wrestled anywhere that year, as he refused to return to the ring until Mark was medically cleared.
* UngratefulBastard: Ingrateful bastards Mark called them, but they weren't impressed with seeing the Wrestling/{{Chikara}} locker room empty out in support of Wrestling/{{Hallowicked}} and Jigsaw at ''ROH Homecoming 2012'' and not seeing a single member of the ROH roster come out to even the odds for Dem Boys.
* UseYourHead: Both of them make use of headbutts, Mark a little more because he's crazy[[spoiler:or, rather, was padding his head with a wig]].
* WaxOnWaxOff: They aren't adverse to working out for the sake of working out but Briscoe training involves buckets of water, ladders and jumping on bulldozers rather weights or calisthenics. {{Subverted|Trope}} when they had ODB fix a tractor and admitted it had nothing to do with getting ready for her match against Kanellis.
* TheWorfEffect: Against CHAOS to set up The Addiction at ''Global Wars 2015''. The Briscoes were impressive enough for Yano to recruit them later, though not into the group.
* {{Workaholic}}: Papa taught Dem Boys to work as soon as they were able to take steps. Work twelve hours a day. Work while all their friends enjoyed the weekend, while all their friends partied. But he let them watch wrestling tapes and build a ring, and drive out to other cities to train and eventually wrestle to make $20 USD in front of 40 people, cause that's work too. He went on [[DotingParent to party with them]] when they won the tag team titles in Ring of Honor because ''it's'' work.
* WorthyOpponent: Jay Briscoe wanted to fight Roderick Strong and Necro Butcher not because he disliked them but actually because he liked them, and wanted to test himself against all styles of wrestling. He and Butcher were actually drinking buddies. Mark liked Roderick Strong too and considered him a brother, which was why he was frustrated that Strong didn't give Mark the same respect he gave his actual brother, Jay.

** An accidental case when he knocked out referee Tod Sinclair while giving Roderick Strong the Die Hard while Sinclair was arguing with another referee, Paul Turner, over the match outcome. Turner counted three soon afterwards but since Sinclair was the original referee, the first of ''Showdown In The Sun's'' three way dances for the world title was named, giving Strong another chance.(Richards retained anyway)
** At "A Night Of Hoopla" he actually had a fan whip him for an apron dropkick on Matt Taven. The crowd also chanted "No More Babies" after a hesitation dropkick to the back of Adam Cole's head sent Cole's face into Taven's crotch. He the accidentally recreated the accidental DDT first done by Wrestling/JakeRoberts when he pushed Taven into the referee, who stumbled and took Taven down with him.
* HangingSeparately: Teamed with Adam Cole while Davey Richards formed team ambition with Kyle O'Reilly. While they weren't at each other's throats, this division made it harder than it should have been for them to deal with The House Of Truth, SCUM and The Kingdom, and as evidenced by the last group and reDRagon, [[TurnedAgainstTheirMasters their two proteges almost ended up being their undoing.]]

This was followed by an Edwards promo where he said that he could do anything to Mike Bennett but he couldn't put his hands on Maria, so he got someone who could. This set up the mixed tag for ''Boiling Point'' on August 11th, which Edwards and Del Rey won.
