The nine non-Straw Hat Supernovas were first revealed in chapter 498, and the names of three of their eight fruits have since been revealed in chapters 661 (163 chapters later), 812 (314 chapters later) and 913 (415 chapters later).

* TheWorfEffect: Barring the Warlords, the Supernovas are established as arguably the most dangerous pirates in the first half of the Grand Line, with each of them having bounties exceeding 100 million. However, the threats of the New World are often shown to be much more dangerous. [[spoiler: Notably, Kidd gets taken out by Kaido, while it takes some of Luffy's strongest attacks as well as Nami's help to defeat one of Big Mom's three strongest subordinates, and even then, the fight lasted over ''eleven hours'']]. One of Big Mom's subordinates even notes this, stating that pirates who actually end up facing the Emperors and their forces run into an insurmountable wall.

* EvilCounterpart: To Luffy. Both have bounties of over 300 million; both of their [[TheDragon dragons]] are non-DF sword users who are also among the supernovas (Killer for Kid, Zoro for Luffy); both are hot-headed; both serve as Red Onis to Law's Blue Oni; both dream to be Pirate King; both joined other Supernovas in an alliance to take down a Emperor, and in fact have managed to run into conflict with three of them (Kidd with Big Mom, Kaidou, and Shanks, Luffy with Big Mom, Kaidou and Blackbeard); both have facial scars (Luffy's is under his eye, Kid's are over his eye and across his face and neck) and both hate the World Nobles (though unlike Luffy, Kid doesn't act on it). However, while Luffy is friendly and kind, Kid is AxCrazy.

* HandicappedBadass: Even after losing his prosthetic arm and cuffed to sea stone restraints, Kidd is still capable of performing impressive feats such as carrying hundreds of stone blocks with one arm.

* RealityEnsues: His alliance with Hawkins and Apoo to take out [[spoiler:Shanks]] lasted up until they had an up-close encounter with [[spoiler:Kaido]], who was all too happy to show them just how far out of their depth they were. It ended with [[spoiler:Apoo and Hawkins working under Kaido's flag and Kidd hovering between life and death in Kaido's custody after receiving one hell of an ass-whooping.]]

* EstablishingCharacterMoment: His debut shows him of as a rather unsettling pirate who doesn't hesitate to flip off Eustass Kidd (who is the Supernova with the highest bounty). This foreshadows that he's not someone to be trifled with, as well as someone who shares Luffy's disrespect for authority. He also shows a softer side by freeing Jean Bart later on.

* ChildhoodFriends: With Kidd according to WordOfGod.

* DeathbringerTheAdorable: You'd think with a name like Killer, he'd be more unstable than Kidd, but he's actually more calm-minded and level headed than most of the other Supernovas.

* GangOfHats: Like Kidd and the crew, he has a Heavy Metal theme.
* HypercompetentSidekick: What did Kid even do to get this guy on his crew? Killer is much, much more level-headed than his boss, to the point where [[spoiler: he arranges most of Kid's black market visits and generally every meeting to minimize the risk of his captain ripping some guy a new orifice, just in case they push one of Kid's many, many berserk buttons.]]

The only female Supernova, Bonney has one of the more stereotypical views on what a pirate should be like in the series, which is a completely amoral person who destroys all in their way and looks out only for themselves. She has proven to be a very rude and unpleasant woman who has a [[BigEater monstrous appetite]] and holds deep grudges for people who irritate her in any way, currently setting her sights on the Straw Hats. As a captain, she shows conflicting displays of competence. She saved herself, her crew, Zoro, and the entire Sabaody archipelago (initially, at least) by immediately restraining Zoro when he was about to kill a World Noble, which would have certainly caused nothing short of a Marine-issued Buster Call. However, she has been shown to cause time delays for her crew with her binge eating, even staying at a restaurant to eat for awhile while knowing that [[PersonOfMassDestruction Admiral Kizaru]] was coming.\\\

Urouge is the oldest supernova and he has the smallest bounty of the group. He is a MightyGlacier who hails from a sky island, as you might have figured. He has a perpetual smile on his face which never goes away, even when he's seen showing fear. He has an ability that allows him to rapidly expand his muscles.\\\

* VoluntaryShapeshifting: Comes with being a Zoan devil-fruit user. So far he's only showcased a full transformation in canon, no hybrid form in-between yet. Video games indicate his Zoan is similar to Marco's and instead he turns bits of himself into a dinosaur instead of having a true hybrid form, but that is all non-canon for now.

* DinosaursAreDragons: His dinosaur-transforming fruit is part of the ''Ryu Ryu'' (Dragon Dragon) family. This is a reference to the Japanese name for dinosaurs (''Kyuryu'').
