The former ruler of Kamabakka Kingdom, Emporio Ivankov, or Iva for short, is a transvestite known as a "Miracle Worker" for saving the lives of several people. However, because he's also a commander of the Revolutionaries trying to overthrow the World Government, he was captured and put into the world's worst prison, Impel Down. Iva is flamboyant, like Mr. 2 Bon Clay, and has a habit of panicking, then saying the opposite of what he said earlier. He is very proud of being a transvestite and of the people he ruled over in a hidden level of Impel Down, even expressing his ideals about it, and doesn't care if anyone disagrees with his views. In fact, he has made enemies of people who were furious that spreading this view had affected them personally, but doesn't seem to care about that either, and dealt with it in his own, [[GenderBender unique]] way.

* DarkAndTroubled: She was a slave for some part of her life.

** It did sorta work with Tiger though. Her innocence was enough to convince him that there may hope for positive relations between fishmen and humans. A belief he finally announced on his deathbed.

* SheCleansUpNicely: She went from looking like [[http://images.wikia.com/onepiece/images/2/22/Koala.png this]], to looking like [[http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/240px-koalalook_2791.png this]] during her time with the Sun Pirates, and then to looking like [[http://images.wikia.com/onepiece/images/3/3d/Koala_Anime_Infobox.png this]] as an adult.

* ScarsAreForever: Most of his scar from his run in with that World Noble remain on his face 12 years after the fact. Also...

* AGodIAmNot: Claims that despite his reputation as a miracle worker, he's not some divine being who can save everyone. All he ever did for people he's healed and countries on the brink of collapse was give them a chance to help themselves, and if they lack a strong enough will, then too bad.

* BerserkButton:
** Don't bring up how he wasn't able to join the battle at Marineford and try to save Ace. Jesus Burgess learned this the hard way.
** Do '''not''' attempt to harm Luffy. Ever. With Ace's death, Luffy is the only family he has left in the world, and [[KnightTemplarBigBrother Sabo]] has no issues committing outright ''murder'' in order to protect his baby brother.

* PintSizedPowerhouse: Of course, being a 10 year old boy who can beat up grown men and giant animals.
** He is still this in the current timeline: As a 22-year-old, he is fairly unspectacular in height for the One Piece world (6'1 and a half) and has a comparatively thin frame, similar to Luffy or Sanji. And yet, he's ''damn'' strong and completely overwhelmed a high ranking member of an ''Emperor's'' crew. He can even keep up with a Marine Admiral.
* PipePain: Is fond of using pipes. In a special shot on the front of a chapter of his adult self with Luffy and Ace, he also wields one.
** In Corrida Colosseum, while disguised as "Lucy", he also wields the pipe.
** After ditching the disguise, he still carries the pipe. At this point it's probably safe to consider it his main weapon.

** GoodScarsEvilScars: Though it came from a serious burn wound, his scar is relatively neat and only lightly pinked, and due to not damaging his eye, his looks are largely unaffected by it.

* ShesAllGrownUp: Male version. He looks very handsome as a young man. He is a Coby-like example in that puberty apparently gave him a new nose. As a child, he had a rather unflattering snub nose, but now he has the same kind of nose as Luffy, Ace, and most female characters. He also doesn't have a missing tooth anymore, though of course that could just have been a lost milk tooth.

* LateArivalSpoiler: ''And how''. Sabo's image was all over the latest One Piece merchandise mere weeks after being revealed alive.

* RememberTheNewGuy: For someone so incredibly important to Luffy it's conspicuous that his name is never actually mentioned until after Ace's death. The only other reference to him involves the crossed out S in Ace's shoulder tattoo, which was (after Sabo's introduction) {{retcon}}ed from a spelling error to a tribute to Sabo.
** When you think about it, Luffy has a very YouDidntAsk personality. He never even mentioned Ace until the crew met him in Alabaster. Plus this is lampshaded in chapter 794 when Franky and Zoro are stunned that Luffy never mentioned Sabo, but Sabo tells them he believes Luffy just didn't want to open the old wound of his dead brother.

* FromNobodyToNightmare: Exactly what his origin was like is unknown. What is known is about six years prior to the start of the series, he and his revolutionaries were just starting out and raising trouble. Current time, Dragon is one of the most feared men in the world.

* LaResistance: The leader of one. As such he is the world's most wanted man. His son, Luffy is shaping up to meet his standards as of recent events.

* TheRevolutionWillNotBeCivilized: The success of his ideas being spread around the world? Mostly owed to good-old-fashioned warfare. [[TheRevolutionWillNotBeVilified Then again, against the corrupt World Government, not exactly a hard choice.]]

The Revolutionary Army is a rebellious organization that opposes the current established world government, with the intention of overthrowing it. They are led by none other than Monkey D. Luffy's father, Monkey D. Dragon. Despite being introduced as early as the Loguetown arc, their plans, members and ways of operating are still mostly shrouded in mystery.
