* TheNotLoveInterest: Andrew serves a rather typical shoujo male love interest role to Akko. He starts off as a cold and stand-offish guy that was intially aloof to the female protagonist (in this case Akko), but over the course of the story, gradually warms up to her and becomes fond of her by the end. Now, one familiar with his archetype would expect him to fall in love with Akko and become the OfficialCouple with her by the end, however, despite some minor ShipTease between them in earlier episodes, Andrew and Akko's relationship never becomes anything more than a platonic bond, with Yoshinari explictly describing their relationship as being a "guy-guy friendship".

As it turns out, Andrew was originally intended to be Akko’s love interest, but those plans were scrapped since most of the staff felt that them forming a romantic relationship just wasn’t necessary for Akko’s story. A specter that appears once in a blue moon and can answer any question. In between all that, she's the ghost of one of the Nine Olde Witches, and a personal friend of Chariot's. She's a WalkingSpoiler, so all entries for this character are unmarked.

* TricksterMentor: Her lessons greatly rely on a SecretTestOfCharacter. Deconstructed severely, given that her emotional distance from her students makes her unable to see just how damaging her actions affect them and everyone around. This what causes

* PeekABangs: Like their older sibling, one of their eyes is hidden behind their hair.

* HidingBehindYourBangs: Some panels have her hair cover one of her eyes, suiting her deceptive and manipulative nature.

* ArtistDisillusionment: invoked The author of the Night Fall book series is revealed to be a LegacyCharacter, with the most recent one wishing to pass on the role due to being a target of internet trolls. Lotte, the one who she tries to pass the role on, convinces her instead that for all the people who insult and mock her, there are many more who love her writing and genuinely appreciate her, which leads to her continuing the role.

* HousePseudonym: InUniverse. "Annabel Crème", author of the 365-volume Night Fall novel series, an obvious sendup of Literature/Twilight, is revealed to be a pseudonym of different authors, although in this case the name is handed down to a successor instead of used simultaneously for a whole circle of ghostwriters, making it overlap with LegacyCharacter. It becomes a minor plot point when Lotte is offered to write the latest sequel and in so doing become the next Annabel. The current one is a young girl, despite "Annabel" supposedly having written the series continuously for 120 years. Her real name isn't revealed, however.

Shopkeeper is no longer a trope

* Shopkeeper: Owns the magic shop "Last Wednesday" and so always appears whenever Akko and the others visit the place to find any tools that will benefit them in that episode.

* EvilCounterpart: She acts as one to Akko. While she's more skilled than Akko, like her, she is an upbeat, energetic, selfish and egotistical girl who idolizes Chariot. However, whearas Akko is a good-hearted and caring person in spite of her flaws, Mirage is shown to be a villainous Jerkass who not only steals the rod from Akko, but tries to harm her by pushing her off the ledge.

* Foil: Is one to Diana in regards to their relationship with Akko. Like Diana, she acts as a rival figure to Akko and both are shown to look down on her. However, whereas Diana is a JerkWithAHeartOfGold who, despite not getting along with Akko (at least early on), genuinely cares about and even respects her to a degree, Mirage is a BitchInSheepsClothing who seemingly gets along with Akko at first, only to reveal that she cares little about her and sees her as nothing but a failure.

* MeaninglessVillainVictory: Her last-minute attempt to interfere with the ritual does prevent Diana from completing it, but only because Diana chose to save her and her daughters from the magical punishment inflicted upon them for interrupting. Since the Cavendish legacy was built on helping anyone in need, including enemies, Diana more than proved her worth, even earning the approval of Beatrix, founder of the Cavendish family and one of the Nine Olde Witches, despite not formally earning the right to become the head of the household. Humbled, Daryl concedes that Diana is truly the deserving heir and ends her scheming.
