Latino Is Brown has been tightened to refer to when many Latinos are brown, or when someone thinks they are. Single-character examples fit in Phenotype Stereotype and Averted Trope examples should not be listed unless notable. (behind the scenes trivia)

* LatinoIsBrown: Played with. Nick is relatively fair-skinned but it's on the tan side and he appears to be mixed blood. He is later confirmed in-universe as having a fair-skinned father and a darker skinned mother. His mother, sister, and daughter play this straight.

* OffstageVillainy: Subverted in the Season 15 premiere episode "Surrender Benson". While it is clear that Lewis has tortured and violated Olivia physically, much of his abuse isn't seen on-screen and much about her ordeal is left up to the imagination of the audience. For example the episode begins with Olivia slowly regaining consciousness (she's gagged, bound to a chair and lying on the floor). Moments later the audience can clearly see an ashtray laying near her head, filled with cigarette butts, her face is also swollen and bruised. It can only be implied what Lewis did to her before the start of the episode.

He later extends this ''to'' said fiance; he is initially very skeptical of the guy's story of being raped by his parole officer, but is quick to realize it's true and convince the squad to take the case. He is absolutely livid that the rapist will likely get away due to the belief that a woman cannot rape a man, and even defends Tommy (the fiance) to his sister when she doesn't believe that he's innocent. Bonus points for the fact that he didn't much like or trust the guy prior to this.
