Ooyodo is the personification of the Japanese cruiser ''[[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_cruiser_Ōyodo Ooyodo]]''. She functioned only as an {{NPC}} before making her playable debut during the Summer 2014 event. She is specialized in launching seaplanes, making full use of the "artillery spotting" combat feature.

* TheComicallySerious: In the anime she takes a flying [[TheGlomp glomp]] from [[GenkiGirl Kongou]], meant for the Admiral, like a champ without changing her stoic expression. Also responds to Kongou's AccidentalPun with her nickname.

* NotTheIntendedUse: She was meant ''not '' to be a submarine killer, but (see Yuubari above, for huge ASW equipment buff) if and only if you have best ASW equipment, her ASW capacity would surpass even Isuzu Kai 2, surpassed only by Yuubari and Katori-class training cruisers. Also more suitable for 5-4 drum-carrying, but not AA-ASW hybrid task for the aforementioned weaknesses. Also, due to her best firepower and survivability of all 4-slot light cruisers, she is heavily used as installation buster when light cruisers are required in a fleet.

* CatchPhrase: "Fufufu, ya scared?" Enough for it to be well-adopted by the fandom.

* CatchPhrase: "Maji Panay!" ("Seriously awesome/Seriously Panay")[[note]]"Panee" is old Japanese slang that means "awesome" and a pun on the Panay Island (in Philippines), around which her historical counterpart sank.[[/note]]

* GenkiGirl: She is a very cheery person, contrasting with dour Takao, HotBlooded Maya and literally calculative Choukai.

* OlderThanTheyLook: The ''Tenryuu''-class is the fifth oldest of real ship classes currently represented in the game, with repair ship Asahi being the oldest as of 2023. [[note]]''Asahi'' herseelf was laid down on August 1, 1898, launched March 13, 1899, and commissioned on April 28, 1900. ''Gangut'' was laid down on June 16, 1909, launched October 20, 1911, and commissioned on January 11, 1915. ''Kongou'' was laid down on January 17, 1911, launched on May 18, 1912 and commissioned on August 16, 1913, and finally ''Warspite'' who was laid down on October 31, 1912, launched on November 26, 1913, and commissioned on March 8, 1915. Both ''Tenryuu'' and ''Tatsuta'' were laid down in 1917, launched in 1918, and commissioned in 1919.[[/note]] In real life, Tenryuu and her sister ship were laid down as UsefulNotes/WorldWarI was coming to a close and went into active service after. * AnimalMotifs: Talks and behaves just like a CatGirl only without cat ears. Also due to her name ("Tama" can be written to mean "furball" and is a [[StockAnimalName common cat name]] in Japan).

* EyepatchOfPower: Likely to reinforce her tough girl image, as well as to make up for her lack of verbal tic compared to her sisters. Her second remodel has her sporting an even better-looking version.
** The damaged CG of her second remodel reveals it's just for show however, as she seems to be wearing a colored contact and [[RuggedScar fake scar]] underneath it.

* NecessaryDrawback: To compensate for her Kai 2 version's strong AA and ASW, her default range was changed from Medium to Short. Nothing that a 20.3 cm cannon can't fix, though, so it's not that big of a drawback.
** This situation got worse on 23/04/2014. With the introduction of Artillery Spotting, seaplanes gained importance. Isuzu Kai 2, having 0 capacity, is thus denied the benefits of this system. Some players went so far as to claim that the entire ''Nagara''-class is now inferior to the ''Sendai''-class' second remodels.

* OvershadowedByAwesome: While she has the highest base anti-submarine stat in the game, due to how anti-submarine damage is calculated light cruisers with four slots such as Yuubari are better at dealing with submarines. This is because anti-submarine equipment (and the number of them equipped) is just much more effective compared to the base stat.

* AlternateCharacterReading: Her name is based on the Kinu river, but translated individually, her characters mean "Oni Fury" (''Oni oko''). She lampshades it in her minor damage line.
** Her namesake also gets her into [[TheChewToy the receiving end]] of the bean-throwing tradition of keeping the "Oni" away during the Setsubun festival.

* CustomUniform[=/=]NonuniformUniform: Takao and Atago wear similar greenish-blue military-style uniforms and berets, but with different legwear and minor colour differences here and there. Maya and Choukai wear sailor uniforms with blue blouses, white miniskirts and red scarves, with the blouses being changed to abbreviated versions of Takao and Atago's and gaining berets on second remodel.

* ThoseTwoGirls: With Atago, due to the two of them being sisters and having similar outfits. Also with Myoukou, since both of them are the nameships of their heavy cruiser classes who had similar fates (see SoleSurvivor above), to the point that Pixiv has the tag "妙高雄", a portmanteau of the kanji for their names, for pics of the two of them together.

* BoisterousBruiser: Upbeat, outgoing, and powerful
