* {{Irony}}: Short of being an outsider like Orson, Danny, or Gale, the first Iron Fist committed every great offense her successors would be discouraged from even thinking about including leaving K'un L'un to share their martial art secrets for the benefit of those outside of it.

Adjusted due to the inclusion of Gale, an Atlantean Iron Fist, in Thor's Avengers 1000AD. Also with the Avengers 1000000AD showing that the first Iron Fist did leave the city for superhero adventures (to say nothing of subsequent ones shown in Matt Fraction's run), so while not entirely laudable, Danny's isn't a unique case.

* MightyWhitey: Largely played down in the more modern series (with the advent of the other Immortal Weapons and previous Iron Fists, all of whom are Asian), though introducing one of the previous Iron Fists, only to declare him ''another'' white guy who out-mastered the masters of K'un-Lun did raise a few eyebrows. This reaches a boiling point as it's hardly deconstructed in other stories where many villainous or rogue factions of K'un-Lun hate the fact their treasured chi and sacred city protector status as the Iron Fist belongs to some irresponsible white outworlder and how his tendency to leave K'un-Lun unprotected to go and play a superhero in America often causes catastrophe to the ancient city, [[VillainHasAPoint which Danny himself admits is a valid complaint.]]

* AwesomenessByAnalysis: The mystics of K'un-Lun obviously don't ''tell'' people how to win the fight against Shou-Lao. Danny, just as all the other potential Iron Fists before him, had to figure it out himself before the dragon turned him into a pile of roasted meat.

* CharacterizationMarchesOn: Initially, Danny spoke with a blunt emotional affect, not using contractions. Once Chris Claremont took over writing duties, this generally vanished.

* EnergyAbsorption: One of the less used abilities of the Iron Fist which has fallen by the wayside was that it could absorb various energies, including nuclear radiation and magic, including the normally lethal Flames of the Faltine. Danny didn't even know about this power.

* MightyWhitey: Largely played down in the more recent series (with the advent of the other Immortal Weapons and previous Iron Fists, all of whom are Asian), though introducing one of the previous Iron Fists, only to declare him ''another'' white guy who out-mastered the masters of K'un-Lun did raise a few eyebrows. * BadSamaritan: Saves Danny repeatedly, but only because it serves his purposes to keep him alive. The minute that changes, he tries to kill Danny.
* TheDragon: Just a minion for Master Khan.
* NoNameGiven: Just.. "Ninja".
* SealedEvilInACan: Trying to lay siege to K'un-Lun was something of a mistake. He wound up being beaten up by Yu-Ti and sealed in the Book of Many Things for centuries. He's freed when the book is destroyed in a fire.
* TransformationOfThePossessed: Whenever he took over Lee Wing, the man gained the ninja's garb.
* TheVoiceless: Initially. He becomes a ''lot'' more chatty when he finally gets free of the Book of Many Things, with an acknowledgement that he's making up for lost time.

* {{Manchild}}: In the earliest stories, it's pointed out many times growing up focused solely on vengeance has left Dany a little emotionally stunted. Fortunately, he grows out of it quickly enough.

* StayInTheKitchen: Initially held this attitude, since that was how it was in K'un-L'un, being reluctant to even take Colleen on in a training match (even training matches against women in K'un-L'un held sentence of death-by-exile or DeathOfPersonality). He soon grew out of it.

Added DiffLines:

* ActionGirl: Which in K'un-L'un at the time was ''completely forbidden''. She and her lover decided to flee rather than face death.
* TheLostLenore: Her apparent death in the wilds outside K'un-L'un haunted Dany, until she turned out to be slightly less dead than he thought.
* NoGoodDeedGoesUnpunished: Save your friend from getting beaten up? Sentenced to DeathOfPersonality for daring to learn how to fight!

Added DiffLines:

* HonestCorporateExecutive: Tried to clean up after the damage Harold and Ward inflicted, just so long as Iron Fist wasn't involved.
* LargeHam: During the time she was an antagonist. While she's normal during business hours, the minute Iron Fist shows up, she becomes as bombastic as any proper supervillain.

Added DiffLines:

* YouKilledMyFather: Knowing Iron Fist wanted her father dead, if not ''why'', she walks in on her father's corpse as Iron Fist's walking out the room and comes to a wrong but not unreasonable assumption. Dany does try explaining things to her, but she's in no mood to listen.

Added DiffLines:

* TheFinalTemptation: Offers Dany a way back to K'un-L'un in exchange for not fighting him.
* GreaterScopeVillain: During the ''Marvel Premier'' run, graduating into BigBad proper when Claremont takes over. He's the one who first empowered the Ninja, and sends a lot of goons after Dany.

Added DiffLines:

Added DiffLines:

Added DiffLines:

* DebtDetester: Briefly works for Joyce on coming to the states. He hates it, and as soon as his obligations are fulfilled he splits.
* DiabolusExNihilo: Initially, from Danny's point of view. As he's minding his own business, this guy would show up out of nowhere, attack him, steal some of his chi and fade into the night.
* GoodScarsEvilScars: Has a nasty scar across the left side of his face, from his own fight with Shao-Lao.

Added DiffLines:

* MegatonPunch: He may not be the Iron Fist, but he's still got a punch on him like a thing like unto iron. When coming to get Ward Meachum, the man's goons assure him the barrier they've set up could hold off a tank. Davos then smashes through the barrier in an instant.
* NoBodyLeftBehind: His fight with Danny in ''Marvel Team-Up'' ends with his body exploding, with not even a scrap of cloth left behind.

Added DiffLines:

* CorruptCorporateExecutive: Like his brother, and has no problem trying to get Iron Fist killed, manipulating his niece to do so.
* SecretKeeper: He knew Danny was Iron Fist, but kept this from Joyce for his own reasons.

* {{Retcon}}: He was claimed to be the first Iron Fist to defeat Shou-Lao, though the prehistoric Fan Fei disproved that notion years later. Though, again, the Book of the Iron Fist isn't always ''totally'' reliable - and Fan Fei understandably flipped the bird to K'un L'un after they literally ''fed her students to Shou-Lao'', leading to the first death of the dragon.

Then again, this makes a little more sense than you might think - the Book of the Iron Fist isn't totally reliable, and for various reasons, she's the Iron Fist that they really don't want to talk about.

* BewareTheNiceOnes: Danny's usually a pretty nice guy, and generally mellow. Upset him, and learn the hard way what it feels like to be hit by a man who can make his fist like unto iron. When he first met Luke, Luke had hurt Misty Knight. Danny punched Luke, who has unbreakable skin, through a wall. And across the street. And then the building Luke hit collapsed on top of him. That's what happens when Danny ''doesn't'' pull his punches.

* FishOutOfWater: In the early days, what with having grown up in K'un-Lun, Danny was just a little out of sorts dealing with 20th century America. He's gotten a lot better about it.

* ObstructiveBureaucrat: In Bendis' run of ''New Avengers'', ComicBook/IronMan and the Mighty Avengers confront Danny about his activities with the New Avengers as Iron Fist, which are illegal due to the SuperRegistrationAct. Danny's lawyer, Jeryn Hogarth, points out to Iron Man that Danny is already a registered hero, having registered his fists as lethal weapons. He also points out that, even though everyone seems to know Danny is Iron Fist, no one can technically prove it, except through very unconstitutional means that Tony doesn't want anyone to know about. Jeryn is a pretty pudgy, normal guy, basically telling off some of the most powerful heroes on Earth, and manages to piss off Ms. Marvel.

* StrawMisogynist: During the Fraction/Brubacker run, an easy way to tell when a character is bad is how misogynist they were. Notable examples are Davos and Nu-An, who are both very vocal in their disregard for women, and act extremely abusive towards women they hold power over. This also seems to be somewhat common with the previous Yu-Ti, as it's said there's only been one previous female Iron Fist, and women are specifically banned from training in any martial arts, until the Army of Thunder's revolution.

Following the death of her Father, father, Joy, with the assistance of her uncle Ward, sought vengeance from Iron Fist after assuming the martial artist had killed him. * RevengeBeforeReason: Joy's desire for revenge was so bad she actually tried to hire a gangster to kill him when the man had just tried to kill her. This weirded the man out so much he left, telling Joy if she wanted to do it so bad, she could do it herself.
* TookALevelInKindness: Once she finally gets it through her head that Danny didn't kill her father, she mellows out a lot.
