** Chloe is the Brawn. While she is an adorable fire-cracker with a lot of artistic talents, her main strength is her brutal fighting style with a rusty pipe ("donut holer") and her literal firepower. It says something that the Cyan Desert Car's climatic fight is mostly ''her'' doing all the work while a former cyber-terrorist and Shadow ''look in horror''.

** Chloe: Bullied for her father's name and profession, ostracized for her hobbies, and keeps being thrown into numerous life-threatening situations by adults. To wit, she's been thrown out of a window, nearly faced a kamikaze attack, strangled ''three times'', and nearly killed by a runaway train.

* MalignantPlotTumor: A {{Deconstruction}}. The group is initially second fiddle to the Windchasers even after Sycamore decides to join both groups together in order to achieve their individual goals at the same time. However, ''their'' plotline, and Chloe in general, eventually overtake their importance in order to focus on them yet again, which ''doesn't'' help Professor Sycamore with his self-worth issues whatsoever. As of Act 2, their plotline is lessened for others to shine.

* TheQuest: Ending the Apex but everyone has their own personal goals: figure out what happened to King Aloysius (Atticus), get revenge on the two who buried him alive (Lexi), ensure Hazel doesn't get involved in anyway possible (Amelia), [[spoiler:and reach her father before he wheels himself (Chloe)]].

* ArtificialHuman: Or Pokémon in this case as he's a Mirage Pokémon created by Dr. Yung.

* WalkingSpoiler: Downplayed in that he's not important in the grand scheme of things, but explaining ''how'' he joined the Uprising spoils [[spoiler:the hidden power that is kept in Chloe's cloak and the HeelFaceTurn the Mirage Pokemonw ent through.]]

* SatelliteCharacter: Just like his canon self, Lexi has most of his characterization based on his connection to Chloe. The co-author admits that he's going to have more of a character in Act 2.

* BadassBaritone: He's a fluffy corgi with a very deep voice.

* AbsurdPhobia: He's gotten a fear of ball pits due to what happened the last time he was in one.

* DidNotThinkThisThrough: In hindsight, Atticus admits that teaming up with Tulip was stupid. He had no idea just how ''long'' it would take for him to get to the Engine to fight the Steward (he had been traveling with Tulip for a few months by the time the Ball Pit Car happened), and in that time frame he had just abandoned his car to the mercy of other forces.

* OnceDoneNeverForgotten: Neither her stint as Conductor or her shooting Atticus will be forgotten anytime soon. More specifically, the fact that she spent thirty years making a car for herself yet barely spent time ''making instruction books'' for passengers is also brought up. By the time Alighieri brings this up, [[NeverHeardThatOneBefore she just rolls her eyes.]]

* {{Expy}}: A brunette woman who becomes shattered from losing a man that she has loved, creating a world that he never died while having an idealized version of him in her head and has an ice motif? She surprisingly fits the character of Cheryl Mason...or rather, the ''alternate'' [[VideoGame/SilentHillShatteredMemories Cheryl Mason]], with bonus points in the Cheryl of that game would keep watching video recordings of her father, just like there are memory tapes on the Infinity Train.

* TownGirls: The stoic butch to Lampetia's peppy Femme and Chloe's tomboyish Neither. She's stoic, wears pantsuits, is tech-savvy, and the element associated with her is ice, which she uses to make constructs.

** Chloe makes the analogy of Amelia giving Hazel to a denizen (Tuba) akin to something like ''Tarzan'' or ''The Jungle Book''. One of Lena Headey's earliest roles was in [[Film/TheJungleBook1994 a movie adaptation of the latter.]]
* AdaptationalDumbass: Amelia was many things in canon, but she certainly wasn't ''moronic'' enough to leave the safety of Hazel and Tuba to [[spoiler: ''the sociopathic White Rabbit known as Kisaragi, who has already brainwashed and mentally violated a kid into replacing his leader '''once'''''.]]

* CharacterDevelopment: The Palimpsest Car is where she realizes she ''can't'' stay in her past and desires to be with Alrich, nor can she let innocent people having to fix up her mistakes. She cements this by telling [[spoiler:Pescia Alrich]] to live a happy life. In the Harvest Moon Car, she decides to visit Grace and Simon to set the record straight and to warn them of what lies ahead.

* CompositeCharacter: She says it herself to Augustine that she's James Sunderland and Mary Shepherd-Sunderland: the former going through so much guilt and pain, running away from everything and having to fight her own Pyramid Heads and the latter when she tells [[spoiler:pescia Alrich]] to live and that they ''made her happy'', like Mary's letter.

* OnceDoneNeverForgotten: Neither her stint as Conductor or her shooting Atticus will be forgotten anytime soon. More specifically, the fact that she spent thirty years making a car for herself yet barely spent time ''making instruction books'' for passengers is also brought up. * FluffyTheTerrible: He's a firebreathing Mirage Houndoom modeled after the original hellhoud of Cerberus...and Chloe calls him ''Hewie''.

* MamaBear: When Alighieri is unable to keep his mouth shut, Amelia fires her blunderbuss to make the feather face shut up.

* ExperiencedProtagonist: He's more adjusted to a train trip because of his previous adventure with Tulip.

* NonActionGuy: [[DownplayedTrope Downplayed]]. Atticus does get into fights here more often than his canonical counterpart, but since he's still just a talking corgi accompanying a girl with ridiculous firepower, a paper prince and a woman with an ice wand, he mostly sticks to the sidelines and acts as a strategist or voice of reason.

* TheNoseKnows: He has a really sensitive nose that's good for picking up scents. This is in contrast to Vaillant who states that his nose is only good for food.

* BodyguardingABadass: Most of the Red Lotus Uprising fit this, but Lexi has it the worst due to being the one who insists on protecting Chloe above all else, despite the girl being so utterly overpowered compared to everybody else and Lexi himself not being the strongest player in the team.

* WarriorPrince: Prince of Azada and ready to get down and dirty with his paper blades.

* ActionGirl: An older version as she's in her sixties at this point, but she comes packing heat and isn't afraid to get her weapons out.

* AdaptationalKarma: Amelia gets away for essentially creating a cult and ruining the lives of hundreds with only her big number to show from it, and she doesn't feel any sympathy or regret for what she did. Even in ''Blossoming Trail'', she still gets away with Chloe defending her and Grace (who only got to be that way ''because'' of Amelia) getting the full ire of everyone on the train. In the Palimpsest Car, Augustine does not mince words that everything, ''everything'', that the Windchasers, Red Lotus Uprising and White Gestalt are doing all stems from ''her'' and her desires to want her life back instead of ''fixing herself'' and doing the right thing with the power she had as Conductor.

* AllForNothing: She's already learned that her 30 years to attempt to create a car that can replicate her life with Alrich was not going to end well, but then she learns from Gremory that her old prediction of "this Train will never give you what you want" was to specify that she could've had her desires in a train ''within a certain car'' if she just prodded Gremory more. Naturally, Amelia is ''not'' happy to learn this.

** She chides the White Gestalt over how she basically warned them not to mess with the Infinity Train, [[spoiler: only for them to nearly destroy it.]] This coming from the woman who did ''the exact same thing'' with Gremory, only instead of [[spoiler: risking destroying the train]], she took part in over thirty years of pain and confusion that people are still reeling about.

** To Grace Monroe, both who are women who ran away due to a lack of love (Grace wanted her neglectful parents to love her, Amelia had to witness her fiance die) and both have made plenty of crimes -- their most prominent one being ''regicide'' with Amelia shooting Atticus and Grace killing Utahoshi. Main difference is that Amelia turned Atticus into a Ghom (but Tulip turned him back to normal) in a bid to get One-One from Tulip and be left alone, while Grace shanked Utahoshi under the "pretense" that she was saving Tokio. Amelia is forgiven because she learned that she made mistakes and joins Chloe's team while Grace is derided as a murderer and apathetic monster by everyone. Also Amelia actually worked ''under'' the Conductor while Grace barely acknowledges One-One's existence except "don't believe his lies, I'm the expert".
** Surprisingly, she's this to the unseen Oleg Sadakov who is resting in the Palimpsest Car. Both of them lost a loved one at a young age -- Oleg lost his little sister when he was a baby and she drowned into an icy lake whereas it's said that Alrich died in a motorbike accident -- and both of them ended up isolated from the world because of it. While both wanted to create a world that they never left, Oleg had a hallucination of his dead sister all grown up while Amelia decided to make a car to replicate her memories. And in this story, Oleg meets up with a ''pescia'' of his sister (with the book stating he asked her to erase the revelations that she's just a copy and they live in Palimpsest) whereas Amelia, as much as she is glad to see Alrich in his pescia, realizes that she can't stay living in her fantasy of being together with him when there's more important stuff to worry about and lets him be.

* OhCrap: Has this look when Specter tells her that [[spoiler: Kisaragi, who she left Hazel and Tuba with, may have been comrpromised.]]

** When Chloe sees the Snom that Goh caught for her, she calls it cute (which startles Parker as he knows his sister would appreciate something more nightmarish).

* LightFeminineAndDarkFeminine: Chloe is the Light and Amelia is the Dark. Chloe is the younger, cheerful girl with bright red hair who sees everything with a smile on her face while Amelia is the aloof, snarkier older one of the duo with brown hair. However Chloe plays with the "Light" since her most recent outfit is mostly black compared to Amelia wearing a grey suit and she's mostly known to like dark material like demons. Fittingly their elements also match their personalities: the bright Chloe uses fire while the aloof stoic Amelia uses ice.

King of Corginia, Uniter of the Pembrokes and Cardigans. He once went on a epic quest to slay the Shadow Monster but joins Chloe for help on her quest and uncover the mysteries on the disappearance of an old friend.

* TheGoodKing: A kind, benevolent and heroic king of a bunch of talking corgis.

* {{Irony}}: He lampshades in the Palimpsest Car that despite red being the color assosiacted with his group, he's incapable of seeing it.
* LateArrivalSpoiler: Any mentions of him turning into a Ghom is this, since it was the most shocking moments of all of Book 1.

* TalkingAnimal: He's a corgi capable of human speech. So are the other corgis in Corginia, granted, but he's their king.

** When Augustine takes over a train for a few hours due to him being in despair and suicidal, a lot of folks in the Palimpsest Car get angry. If ''she'', who was also on the verge of suicide, takes control of a Train, then no one goes after her head.

* AdaptationalKarma: Amelia gets away for essentially creating a cult and ruining the lives of hundreds with only her big number to show from it, and she doesn't feel any sympathy or regret for what she did. * CutenessProximity: She squees at how she gets cuddled by a colony of Flemish Giant rabbits in the Palimpsest Car because they're just so ''fluffy''!

* DoubleStandard:
** She gets to atone for her sins even though it's her fault that a lot of passengers and denizens were lost about the train's purpose and she indirectly created the Apex. [[spoiler:But three members of White Gestalt (all men) got kicked out when they nearly destroyed the Train trying to ''stop'' the Apex. She is fully aware at how unfair this is.]]

** Amelia is constantly blamed for everything that has happened on the Train...except she's only been conductor for 30 years so she's only responsible for the messes she made in that time period. Tres points out that One has been conductor for far longer, and yet he's probably turned away from stuff that happened under his watch.

** Amelia tells Augustine not to blame himself for the Third Rail incident as Usagi would've chosen the ''next'' suicidal passenger to cause chaos. This is coming from a suicidal woman who took control of the Infinity Train for ''thirty years''.

* KarmaHoudini: While she's exempt from being kicked out of the Train when [[spoiler: White Gestalt's plan went off the rails]], she gets away with her atrocities for uprooting One-One from his role, 30 years of destruction so she can have her happy life with Alrick and indirectly creating the Apex except for her ridiculously high number. Amelia herself is not amused about it in the slightest.

* WantingIsBetterThanHaving: After wasting thirty years of her life trying to recreate a car that would let her believe that Alrich was alive -- which ultimately ended up with thousands of lives ruined, denizen or otherwise -- and having ignored Gremory's suggestion about not using the Infinity Train for her purposes, Amelia ''finally'' finds a copy of Alrich in the Palimpsest Car...and within one hour of speaking to him, she slowly begins to realize that her desire to be with Alrich is different than actually ''having'' him.

* ActorAllusion: When she uses the Ice Wand for the first time, she proclaims "Winter is Coming", a phrase from ''Series/GameOfThrones'', which Creator/LenaHeadey starred in.

* BystanderSyndrome: She sat around and did nothing while so many passengers fumbled around in the dark and one of them had the idea to make a cult that hurt denizens. Even when Gladion told her to do something about it, she refused and it nearly ended with the Train's destruciton and three members of White Gestalt kicked out. Even while she's with Chloe and her group, she's barely doing anything to fix her mistakes and instead, ''children'' who should be going out and fixing themselves are now fixing her problems.
