Called Vampires by Heretics, the Akharu are an ancient warrior race seeking a cure for the Blood Plauge inflicted upon their race by their mortal enemies, the Vestil. All Akharu possess SuperStrength, SuperSpeed, SuperSenses, and {{Immortality}}. The blood plague forces them to replace their cursed blood by drinking that of other creatures. They can also share blood with human beings, which turns said humans into Akharu-hybrids with all the same powers on top of an added weakness to sunlight.

Called Vampires by Heretics, the Akharu are an ancient warrior race seeking a cure for the Blood Plauge Plague inflicted upon their race by their mortal enemies, the Vestil.

There he met Jiao, a dying Chinese woman who he saved by turning her into a human vampire. They soon had a daughter they named Asenath. In 1803, when Asenath was eight, Tiras was forced to return to his homeworld to once again combat the Vestil, who were preparing another curse that would wipe out everyone that had Akharu blood (which by then included Jiao and Asenath). He promised to return as soon as possible.
