* PromotedToLoveInterest: Though the Artemis/Orion romance is probably the best known version of the story, it's only a modern take on the story: In most versions of the original story, he's a stalker, a peeping tom, harassing Artemis's huntresses or something along those lines, so Artemis is hostile towards him and Apollo kills him. However, in this story, they have a wacky but loving relationship with the only traces of the original stories being that he also likes to flirt.

* BullyingADragon: When she was younger, despite being the leader's protege and an excellent brawler, other kids of the Saika Ikki would still attempt to bully her over her foreign roots... at which point she'd just punch them in the face until they stopped.

* LegacyCharacter: Even in real life, there were multiple people who took up the identity of Saika Magoichi. She's far from the original: in fact she's the ''last'' Magoichi, who was adopted and mentored by the previous leader, and is now keeping the Saika Ikki "alive" by herself after it fell apart. Usually she just goes by her regular name of Hotaru. It even appears as the "Saika Succession" skill, that summons the next wielder of the name when the current one is killed, which is how Hotaru appeared in the Kai singularity in the first place; but being the last, the skill is unavailable to her.

* MultiRangedMaster: Happily wields every kind of gun she can get her hands on, from handguns to grenade launchers. Though it's downplayed a bit in that while she can handle them, she's by her own admission a mediocre sniper and prefers midrange and GunKata.
-->"If you cannot hit your target, just get closer and shoot them again. That's what we call fighting smart."
