* AmbiguousDisorder: Averted. A doctor lists the symptoms he has been experiencing and officially diagnoses Hawks with PTSD in chapter twenty-one of ''For Their Sakes''.

* SociallyAwkwardHero: Justified. Hawks was trained to do Hero work for his whole life so he is perfectly at ease while saving people and in front of the camera. It's social interactions outside of Hero work (which he was not trained for due to his isolated upbringing) that he struggles with. When he calls Tensei to ask if he wants to go see a movie, Hawks stumbles over his words and agonizes over everything he says like he has a [[AmbiguousDisorder social anxiety disorder]]. Though it may partially be due to [[HeroWorshipper Green]] influencing his emotions and making him more awkward than usual.

* HurtingHero: The trauma of losing Future Jiro to being [[FateWorseThanDeath turned into a Nomu]] and Future Tokoyami to Jiro's Nomu left her confidence in tatters.

* ShipSinking: In ''Ennea'' (which takes place in the present day after ''Vigilantes'' has ended) he is not dating and has not married Pop or Makoto. This is not surprising considering there is no romance in the series.

* GenderNeutralWriting: In his introduction, he is referred to with "they" pronouns and is simply called "the Hero" to keep his gender and identity hidden from the readers.

* BadassBaritone: The first thing Hawks notices about him is his deep voice. He is one of eight survivors of the BadFuture and goes toe-to-toe with the likes of [[PersonOfMassDestruction Re-Destro]] despite his non-combat oriented Quirk.

* AdultFear: He holds onto a little girl and tells her he'll protect her as Shigaraki attacks Haven. She disintegrates in his arms.

* AdultFear: He finds out Hawks, a younger person he cares for who has the type of personality that will make him [[EasilyForgiven stay with people who have harmed him]] had a Quirk used on him while he was unconscious by people he trusted. Hawks continually insists everything is alright and he can't leave these people because they're "good" ones who promised they won't do it again. This terrifies Toshinori further because he's seen these types of relationships play out before and fears Hawks will keep getting hurt.

* {{Aromantic}}: Justified. Hawks is aroace. He is not interested in sex, romance, or dating and never has been. He does not have a word for it until Green explains to him what asexuality and aromantism are in chapter twelve of ''For Their Sakes''.

* BeautyMark: She has one on the left side of her jaw. It's one of the first things Mockingjay notices about her.

** Dabi's excuses and justifications completely fall apart thanks to [[spoiler: his youngest brother, Shoto Todoroki]]. He declares that Dabi put vengeance over the health and well-being of the people he [[SecretlySelfish supposedly was trying to get justice for]] and that if Dabi truly wanted to help his family, he wouldn't have planned to do so in a way that would rip open old wounds for the whole world to see. Dabi did not care what his family thought about his plans or how much his [[FakingTheDead "death"]] would hurt them; He just wants to lash out at Endeavor and the world. Dabi's reaction suggests he [[HeelRealization realizes]] [[spoiler:his brother]] is right and that he truly was in it only for himself.

* SecretlySelfish: He claims that he wants to bring down Endeavor and Hero Society to change it for the better but in truth he's simply lashing out and wants to retaliate against the world for hurting him personally. Dabi may pretend otherwise but he does not care about justice for his family and his supposed world-changing goals are used as an excuse to hurt others, [[spoiler:something which Shoto calls him out on]].

* {{Asexuality}}: Hawks is aroace (aromantic asexual). He is not interested in sex or romance and never has been. He keeps it mostly to himself since most people he tries to explain it to react with disbelief or bemusement, believing he's confused or immature. He did not have a word for it until someone explains to him what asexuality and aromanticism are. The discovery acts as another way for him to find himself and forge his own identity outside of the Commission's control.

When the Voices and Hawks first meet him, Yellow is genuinely worried he is a serial killer. Not to mention [[spoiler:Dabi is [[TheDreaded terrified of Law]] and rushes to protect Hawks as soon as he hears he is with the infamous Heart Pirate. This implies Law may actually be a former Villain]].

* DarkAndTroubledPast: Although the details are not yet known to readers, Hawks realizes that at some point in his life, [[spoiler:the Commission attempted to recruit Law, and his refusal got him branded as a Villain called "Heart Pirate".]]

* SerialKiller: Subverted. Yellow fears he is one upon meeting him. However, while Law is a creepy guy who grins gleefully while displaying the nauseating aspects of his Quirk, he is a genuine Hero. * AdaptationalKarma: Unlike in the manga, Endeavor faces more consequences for his abusive actions than angsting about Natsuo and possibly Shoto not forgiving him. * VoiceOfTheLegion: When he acts as the other Ennea, his voice is described as a thousand men, women, and children speaking in haunting unison.

* BreakThemByTalking: He goads Dabi into attacking him by claiming he's a selfish coward who ran away from his problems and abandoned his family. Once Dabi explodes in rage and attacks, Fake Touya pretends to act afraid before serenely telling him he's worse than their father. This hits Dabi hard and he does not fight back as Fake Touya tries to burn him alive. Dabi only survives because of the other Ennea.

* KillItWithWater: The other Ennea destroys him by dousing him with water as he's trying to burn Dabi alive.

The current Number Three Ranked Hero of Japan and the unfortunate host of eight time travelling Pro Heroes from the future. Hawks wants a peaceful world where Heroes have more free time on their hands than they know what to do with. To achieve that goal, he vows to assist the Voices in their mission in any way he can.

* LockedOutOfTheLoop: The Voices refuse to tell him how his future self died and that Toshinori Yagi is All Might. Silver predicts this will only end in tears. Hawks learns about his death and handles it rather well, reassuring Pink and Yellow it was not their fault.

* DemotedToExtra: Zigzagged. Midoriya is the main protagonist of the manga and his future self is a main character but his present day teenaged self has only shown up a couple times in this series. He is not one of Hawks' interns either, so there is little reason for them to run into one another other than at Hosu.

* AdaptationRelationshipOverhaul: Since she is rescued by Ennea and protected by Hawks, she is not attached to [[BigBrotherInstinct Mirio and Deku]]. In fact, she has yet to meet them at all. Instead she trusts Hawks completely and bonds with his interns (Iida, Todoroki, and Tokoyami) first.
