Though it's worth pointing out that said friendship was based on Mika befriending Anri so she had someone to look better than in comparison.
* StalkerWithACrush: '''Very.''' She even had stalker tendencies ''before'' Seiji came into her life, and since then she has taken her stalking UpToEleven. She says she's snuck ''20'' hidden cameras in his room. Later, she reveals [[spoiler:she's been wire-tapping ''everyone remotely associated with Seiji ever'' in an effort to "protect" him]].

* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: Is surprisingly mello for a gangster, when Shizuo is framed for murder of several Yakuza (by Izaya, of course), Shiki calmly and rationally deduces the fact that Shizuo was framed and lets him go.

Both are imposing men who regularly wear sunglasses, and have a shared penchant for violence which is accompanied by raw strength (even if Izumii doesn’t hold a candle to [[CharlesAtlasSuperpower Shizuo]]). They also both have [[HairTriggerTemper terrible tempers]], younger brothers, and grudges against Izaya. However, Shizuo is a NiceGuy underneath all of his [[BerserkButton Berserk Buttons]] who wants nothing more than to control his anger, in contrast to Izumii who is a full-fledged {{Jerkass}} that HatesEveryoneEqually and doesn’t care about improving himself. And while Shizuo is [[BigBrotherInstinct fiercely protective]] of his brother Kasuka, Izumii is a severe BigBrotherBully whose abuse had a profound negative effect on Aoba’s psyche.

* DisproportionateRetribution: [[spoiler:He beat up on Aoba just because he thinks he's TheUnfavorite of the family. However, Aoba hints that really isn't the case. And then finally, he goes past the limit of physically beating him up and does something else that makes the poor kid snap and set his room on fire. And while Aoba did trick him into becoming the leader of Blue Squares, he NEVER did anything to ruin his life. Before his brother beat up on him, he was acting his normal self but when the beatings started, he started becoming [[CuteAndPsycho more crazy]] but even setting the room on fire is nothing compared to what Izumi did.]]

* RapeIsASpecialKindOfEvil: [[spoiler:Mikage would have let Izumi smash Earthworm's face in or set her on fire, but not rape her.]]

* BigBadWannabe: At the time of her introduction, we were led to assume that she was going to be the main villain, but she quickly ([[CrowningMomentOfAwesome and epically]]) gets shown up by Mikado, of all people, and to top it all off, she's now nothing more than a pawn for the ''real'' BigBad, Izaya.

* DefectorFromDecadence: Takiguchi briefly considers leaving the Dollars after realizing they've lost their original non-color ideology, but ends up changing his mind again in a HeartwarmingMoment of TeamSpirit with the other members of the Dollars.

* BigBadWannabe: [[spoiler:Tries to take over all of the action in Ikebukuro after he returns and takes control of Haruna's children, including Shizuo himself. [[StatusQuoIsGod Works about as well as you'd expect]].]]
