** Caitiff, who possesses an even bigger . Having a very personal vendetta against him/her for stopping the darkness years back. Caitiff dedicates its time to studying the Hero and avoiding the mistakes of his/her past enemies. Caitiff also becomes one of the Hero's most personal enemies after enslaving his/her dragon.

In the Tomix saga, the Hero and Tomix team up with Vaal in order to travel to Ynnugaap (the Deep Void) to stop Envy; though at this point, Vaal had lost his mage abilities and no longer opposed the Hero.]]

* DarkIsNotEvil: The Hero can wield dark based weapons such as the Doom Weapons, and train in classes such as Necromancer, [=DeathKnight=], , DoomKnight and Shadowhunter, but always remains aligned with good.(Though it should be noted that Doomknight is a non-canon class.)

* ProtagonistWithoutAPast: Initially nothing is revealed prior to "A Hero Is Bored", and s/he seemingly starts off as a hero. "Yulgar's First Date" sheds some light on what happened prior to getting into the hero business, where s/he was a normal kid.

* NotDrawnToScale: Its size when its in Titan form is...inconsistent. "Titans Of Battleon" shows them it as about the size of the Guardian Tower in Battleon. However, judging by the curvature of the moon in "The City Fights Back", we're ''far'' larger. And considering the fact that the Super Mega Ultra Darkness Dracolich eats the sun in the Book 1 finale, comparing sizes with its mouth actually shows that we're ''larger than the sun''.

* GenderNeutralWriting: Usually played straight considering either gender leads to the same outcome, but sometimes it becomes apparent that most of the players are assumed to be male, with the constant female [=NPCs=] flirting with the Hero.

* PsychicBlockDefense: In "Interview", the Hero gets [[DemonicPossession possessed by an evil spirit]] who is the [[AllYourPowersCombined collected hatred of all the Hero's enemies combined]]. However his/her strong will allows the spirit to be somehow expelled.

** In Book 3 Amityvale, the Hero teams up with [[spoiler: Raven (a Rose recruit), Chaney, Lon (two werewolves), and Vampire Queen Safiria against Frydae.]]

** The Firewar has a lot of the Hero's past allies participating like Galanoth, Cysero, Warlic, and later Artix (after he comes back to his [[BrainwashedAndCrazy senses]]).

** During the "Sulen'Eska" questchain, Sam tells the Hero (while disguised as Edd), he brought a positive atmosphere to Espina Rosa, and made helped to lighten up some of the mean, bitter characters like Sofist and Vince. S/he also became someone for Sam to look up to, and gave him hope which he did not have when he first joined the Rose.

* LegendaryInTheSequel: Early on in the series, the Hero discovers that in the future (''VideoGame/AdventureQuest''), s/he has become the greatest [=DragonLord=] the world has known.

* DarkIsNotEvil: The Hero can wield dark based weapons such as the Doom Weapons, and train in classes such as Necromancer, [=DeathKnight=], , DoomKnight and Shadowhunter, but always remains aligned with good.

* FourthWallObserver: The Hero delves into this a fair bit early in the game; being aware that they were in a video game, doing quests, and possessing a specific level. However over time as the game got more serious the Hero slips out of this, to the point where s/he may be confused when other character [[BreakingTheFourthWall break the fourth wall]].
