* StaticCharacter: For the most part they're this, although Vegeta, Pan and Uub are exceptions, as they do get some development, but the rest aren't so lucky.

* AdvertisedExtra: [[https://www.dragonball-multiverse.com/en/read.html Goku's picture]] is used to represent DBM overall, and he shows up once in a while in covers, but Goku for most of the story is a glorified extra.
* CombatCommentator: He mostly comments about the fights, explaining how transformations work, comparing the power levels the current fighters have with others he fought in the past, and also the tactics they use compared to their counterparts from his universe.

* OutOfFocus: Much of U18 suffers from this but Goku in particular. Despite being the main character of ''the entire Dragon Ball franchise,'' Goku hasn't been seen that much in DBM so far. All his battles have been fairly [[SingleStrokeBattle short]], and he hasn't had much going on outside his tournament matches.

* WeakButSkilled: Downplayed. Although Goku and Vegeta are one of the most powerful contestants, they are ultimately outclassed by the likes of Bra, Vegito, and U4 Buu. But their true strength lies in their wisdom as warriors, honed by decades of experience and CharacterDevelopment. [[spoiler:This leads to the both of them unlocking an awakened state that allows them to use their full power without needing to transform into Super Saiyans, something that not even Vegito was able to do.]]

* {{Foil}}: To U16 Bra. Both are students of their universes' greatest hero and have been trained to be said hero's successor. Both came into being as a result of the Z-Fighters' final confrontation with Majin Buu (Uub is the purified reincarnation of Kid Buu, while Bra is the child of the fusion to defeat Buu) and both want their teacher's approval. While Uub is a NiceGuy with a good relationship with the people in his universe (and particularly Goku), U16 Bra is a {{jerkass}} with a strained relationship with most of her family (particularly Vegito). Additionally, Bra has a SuperpoweredEvilSide in the form of [=SS2=] while Uub is specifically noted in the novelization to not have any such darkness inside him. Lastly, Uub wants nothing to do with Babidi and expresses contempt for the wizard, while Bra [[spoiler:ultimately falls prey to Badidi's Majin Spell and seems to enjoy the result]].

** There is a bit of FridgeBrilliance in this: In canon, when Vegeta faced Cell, he refused to use the Ultra Super Saiyan muscle-bound form, as it would make him too slow to be efficient. Of COURSE then Cell would be led to think Vegeta rated the [=SSJ3=] form as useless as the [=USSJ=], thus deliberately sealing it. It also nicely shows how much Vegeta has evolved.

For another, during the fight with [[spoiler:Majin Bra, when she takes a senzu bean and recovers all damage the Gohans had managed to inflict, U16 Gohan gives up and lets Bra kill him, while U18 Gohan keeps fighting and plans with U11 Buu]].
* LaserBlade: He reveals he can make a small, Sauza-esque one of these in the fight against [[spoiler:Majin Bra]].
* PapaWolf: Downplayed. Gohan is protective of Pan, but he also understands it's important for her to be strong. He negotiates with U13, not so Kakarot will forfeit to Pan, but that he just won't be ''sadistic''.
* WorldsStrongestMan: Gohan still retains this position in his universe. Goku even admits he's not sure if he could beat Gohan despite training a lot more than him.

!!'''Pan'''
[[quoteright:172:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/u18pan.PNG]]
* AdaptationalBadass: A lot more competent than ''GT'' Pan, being able to hold her own against powerful enemies. Also, she learns how to [[spoiler:go Super Saiyan]].
* BadassAdorable: Just like any incarnation of Pan.
* ChildProdigy: Being the child of Gohan and personally trained by Goku will do this for you. Unlike GT Pan (who the creators openly admit to despising, along with GT in general), U18 Pan is a capable fighter, having trained under Goku. Unlike U16 Pan, however, she isn't able to transform into a Super Saiyan. [[spoiler:Until her fight with U13 Kakarot pushed her to that level, that is.]]
* LikeFatherLikeSon: Or in this case "like grandfather like granddaughter". Pan is just like Goku in Dragon Ball, wearing his gi, using his power pole, and even knows his Rock-Scissors-Paper technique.
* KnowWhenToFoldEm: Against [[spoiler:U13 Kakarot. Despite unlocking Super Saiyan, she acknowledges he remains out of her league and forfeits the fight before things can go the way of her U16 counterpart.]]
* OlderThanSheLooks: Pan is 14 years old by the time of DBM, but looks much younger. Once Asura stepped in as the main artist of the comic, he began to draw her as looking closer to her age.
* PintsizedPowerhouse: Though the smallest and youngest member of U18 at age fourteen, she can kick more ass than most adults.
* RageBreakingPoint: U13 Kakarot mockingly asking her if she'd like to know what he did to little girls on Earth, with all the ugly implications of that, sets her off in major way [[spoiler:and gives her the push to go Super Saiyan.]]
* TookALevelInBadass: [[spoiler:Pan is pushed into transforming into a Super Saiyan by U13 Kakarotto.]]
* UnevenHybrid: Pan is a quarter Saiyan through her grandfather Goku and three-quarters human.

!!'''Uub'''
[[quoteright:347:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/u18uub.PNG]]
* AdaptationalBadass: In the novelization, after picking up magic Uub displays a Majin Buu-style HealingFactor. This is not shown in the comic version of the fight, and it's unclear if comic Uub can do this.
* BalefulPolymorph: Turns [[spoiler:U11 Buu]] into a watermelon at one point.
* CombatPragmatist: Though he can overpower [[spoiler:U11 Buu]] temporarily through use of the Kaioken, in the end he wins by exploiting a technicality in one of the tournament rules.
* GuileHero: Attempts to trick [[spoiler:U11 Buu]] into losing during their battle.
* KungFuWizard: After a little intervention by [[spoiler:U4 Buu]], Uub can supplement his high power and combat skill with magical abilities inherited from Kid Buu.
* SuperpoweredEvilSide: Subverted. In the novelization, U16 Gohan wonders after seeing Uub use magic if something of Buu's mind might exist inside of him and come out when angered. Vegito claims King Yemma wouldn't have allowed something like that.
* TheApprentice: To Goku.
* TokenMinority: The only member of U18 (if not the entire tournament) who is dark-skinned. There's even a [[https://www.dragonball-multiverse.com/en/strip-25.html minicomic]] that jokes about it.

!!'''Goten and Trunks/Gotenks'''
[[quoteright:262:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/u18_goten_and_trunks.png]]
[[quoteright:182:[[labelnote:Click here for Gotenks]]https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/u18_gotenks.png[[/labelnote]]]]
* {{Determinator}}: Goten knows he is no match for [[spoiler: Majin Cell Jrs. or Majin Kakarot]], but he'll still [[UnderequippedCharge fight them anyway]].
* HeIsAllGrownUp: While adult Goten and Trunks had already appeared, adult Gotenks never had.
* HumiliatingWager: Them and their U16 counterparts are subjected to this after their elimination, and are forced to be servants for the other characters of U16 and U18.
* KidHeroAllGrownUp: They're both still very immature despite being adults by the time of this series. Personality-wise, Gotenks hasn't changed at all.
* LargeHam: Gotenks is easily the hammiest, flashiest character in the series, who never stops flaunting around how awesome he his.
* LoopHoleAbuse: Goten and Trunks thought entering the contest as Gotenks was considered this, but turns out the Vargas don't really care.
* OtherMeAnnoysMe: Played with. While initially they're quite excited to meet their U16 doppelgangers, when they are [[MirrorMatch pitted against each other]] they keep making the ''exact'' same moves, leading to a ''very'' long, frustrating, drawn-out battle. Neither side could win until an accident on U16 Trunks' part broke the tie.
* SmallNameBigEgo: Gotenks is undoubtedly powerful, being a fusion of two Saiyans. However, he has a habit of underestimating his opponents while still displaying the same arrogance.
* SmugSuper: Even more smug than the likes of Vegito and Cell.
* SpannerInTheWorks: [[spoiler:Goten, due to not being teleported with the other contestants, is able to sneak up on the Cell Jrs keeping U18 hostage and distract them long enough for Piccolo to grab Videl and Bra and run away while Gohan deals with the Jrs.]]

!!'''Bra Briefs'''
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/u18_bra.png]]
* BreakTheCutie: [[spoiler:The Majin rebellion as a whole took a toll on her due to her close brushes with death, but Cell killing Videl absolutely breaks her. The sight of him regenerating from Gohan's attack and approaching her leaves her a frightened wreck.]]
* DaddysGirl: She and Vegeta are affectionate with each other, with her calling him "Daddy" and him [[spoiler:cradling her during Hatchiyak's scream]].
* DeadpanSnarker: She enjoys teasing Trunks, Goten, and Pan. Her humor isn't mean-spirited or insulting, though, and she never gets after her elders, unlike her U16 counterpart.
* {{Foil}}: To U16 Bra, obviously. U18 Bra is weaker and doesn't train... but she ''is'' a whole lot nicer. This is best seen in the [[spoiler:Majin Arc, where U16 Bra is a willing Majin murdering her friends and family with a smile on her face. U18 Bra, on the other hand, is struggling to survive and getting horribly broken by the carnage regarding her friends and family. When she's cradling U18 Gohan after he was injured by U16 Bra, Majin Bra mocks her as her "Evil Twin."]] [[InvokedTrope Invoked]] in-universe when Grand Supreme Kai sees this and notes the similarity and differences.
* GirlyGirl: Enjoys shopping, keeping up on the latest fashions, and flirting with boys.
* ItsAllMyFault: Blames herself for [[spoiler:U18 Videl's death during the Majin Rebellion]], saying that if only she'd been stronger, it wouldn't have happened.
* OtherMeAnnoysMe: Humorously invoked when interacting with her U16 self. Bra believes her U16 counterpart needs to get a life when the latter comments on how she spent most of her life training. [[spoiler:This becomes a lot more serious when when U18 Bra sees how much of a monster her counterpart has become as a Majin and is outraged and disgusted by her actions.]]
* PaintedOnPants: Wears a pair of ''very'' tight jeans.
* TraumaCongaLine: Oh boy. In short order: [[spoiler:she's hit with Hatchiyak's scream, which hurts her badly enough that Vegeta is seconds away from jumping into the ring; she's caught up in the Majin Rebellion and held hostage by the Cell Juniors; she's brutalized by Majin Nappa; gets a front row seat to Cell murdering Videl (which leaves her sobbing and blaming herself for not being strong enough to stop it); is confronted by a not dead Cell who reveals he plans on ''throwing her into the melee'' to motivate the Gohans (leaving her terrified and shaking); and when she enters the stadium, she arrives in time to see her U16 counterpart seriously injure, if not outright kill, her universe's Gohan. After everything, it's small wonder she breaks down crying and begging Gohan to PleaseWakeUp.]]
* RealityEnsues: Much like Gohan in Dragon Ball canon, her mix of Saiyan and human genetics lets her display enormous strength when pushed, even without training to back it up. Like Gohan during the fight with Raditz, Bra manages to land a surprise blow on [[spoiler:Majin Nappa]] that temporarily staggers him. Also like Gohan before he was trained as a fighter, such a burst of strength does not make a fighter on its own, and once he has his bearings [[spoiler:Majin Nappa]] makes short work of her.
* ReasonYouSuckSpeech: Gives a rather effective and scathing one to [[spoiler:Majin Bra pointing out her hypocrisy for sacrificing her free will for power and brushing off all her attempts to gain sympathy]]
* UnskilledButStrong: Comparatively. She doesn't know how to fight (or even fly), but she's still strong enough to land a surprise blow on [[spoiler:Majin Nappa]]. Once [[spoiler:Majin Nappa]] gets his bearings, though, [[spoiler:he easily mops the floor with her]].
* SuperpowerfulGenetics: Since she's Vegeta's daughter, she's (relatively) massively strong despite never training a day in her life, something Videl [[LampshadeHanging thinks isn't fair]].
* YouGottaHaveBlueHair: Has purple hair, like her big brother.

!!'''Videl'''
[[quoteright:170:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/u18_videl.png]]
* BackInTheSaddle: Even after years of motherhood, when ambushed in the U18 apartments by [[spoiler:Majinized spectators]], Videl doesn't need help fighting them off.
* NoBodyLeftBehind: [[spoiler:Her body gets vaporized in the cross-fire when U16 Gohan reached his RageBreakingPoint and blasts her killer into smithereens.]]
* StuffedInTheFridge: [[spoiler:Actually exploited by Majin Cell. He kills her and her U16 counterpart to push Gohan to his limits in the imminent fight against Majin Bra.]]
* TheTeamNormal: Though she has fighting experience and is quite strong by human standards, Videl is the only member of U18 who is a full-blooded, normal human and, as such, is far weaker than almost everyone in the story besides the spectators.
