* AwesomeByAnalysis: Deduces that he and U16 Gohan think the same way and therefore can act in perfect unison.

* OutOfFocus: Much of U18 suffers from this but Goku in particular. Despite being the main character of ''the entire Dragon Ball franchise,'' Goku hasn't been seen that much in DBM so far. All his battles have been fairly [[SingleStrokeBattle short]], and he hasn't had much going on outside his tournament matches.

U18 is the standard universe that follows the manga and anime story. The fighters in this universe include Goku, Vegeta, Uub [[note]]defeated by Goku[[/note]], Pan [[note]]Forfeited to U13 Kakarot[[/note]] and Goten & Trunks as Gotenks [[note]]defeated by Zen Buu[[/note]]. Gohan, Videl, Piccolo, and Bra are spectators.

** Cell threatening his daughter is enough for him to use a senzu bean during their match, [[OOCIsSeriousBusiness something he would never do even in life or death circumstances.]] In fact his ego has at times driven him to allow an enemy to reach their full potential so he can beat them at their best. Instead he tricks Cell into thinking he’s giving him a bean as a distraction in order to kill him.

* {{Foil}}: To U16 Bra. Both are students of their universes' greatest hero and have been trained to be said hero's successor. Both came into being as a result of the Z-Fighters' final confrontation with Majin Buu (Uub is the purified reincarnation of Kid Buu, while Bra is the child of the fusion to defeat Buu) and both want their teacher's approval. While Uub is a NiceGuy with a good relationship with the people in his universe (and particularly Goku), U16 Bra is a {{jerkass}} with a strained relationship with most of her family (particularly Vegito). Additionally, Bra has a SuperpoweredEvilSide in the form of [=SS2=] while Uub is specifically noted in the novelization to not have any such darkness inside him. Lastly, Uub wants nothing to do with Babidi and expresses contempt for the wizard, while Bra [[spoiler:ultimately falls prey to Badidi's Majin Spell and seems to enjoy the result]].

* BalefulPolymorph: Turns [[spoiler:U11 Buu]] into a watermelon at one point by reflecting a spell.

* CharacterDevelopment: He's mellowed out a lot since the Buu saga, his rivalry with Goku is a lot healthier (Envy at his U13 counterpart smashing in Goku's U3 counterpart's head aside) he's a lot more lenient when it comes to his children and [[spoiler:he finally begins to call Goku by his Earth name after defeating Kakarot.]] It's gotten to the point that [[spoiler:Babidi can't sense evil in him anymore.]]

* GuileHero: Has to be this. He first derides [=SSJ3=] as an AwesomeButImpractical costly transformation that leaves the user drained, letting Cell think he would never use it, implying he has something better up his sleeve. Then he goes and offers a Senzu bean... But as Cell remarks with a smirk that he has mellowed a lot, Vegeta actually jumps in as [=SSJ3=] for a sucker punch to the gut, likely intending to catch the Senzu Cell failed to use, thus compensating for the power consumption issue, and STILL not revealing his ace in the hole.

* CurbStompBattle: Until Uub every fight he's had in the tournament has been lopsided in his favor. [[spoiler: This gets turned around on him when Uub uses Kaioken Transcended on him. Wiping the floor with Goku in short order and only losing because of the Kaioken's drawbacks.]]

* CombatPragmatist: Though he can overpower [[spoiler:U11 Buu]] temporarily through use of the Kaioken, in the end he wins by exploiting a technicality in one of the tournament rules.

* HulkingOut: [[spoiler: Kaioken Transended ]] has him noticeably bulk up when using it.
* KungFuWizard: After a little intervention by [[spoiler:U4 Buu]], Uub can supplement his high power and combat skill with magical abilities inherited from Kid Buu.

* AwesomebutImpractical: The Kaioken. Thanks to a higher base strength compared to everyone else the boost that Kaioken gives him is big enough that at max output it only makes him slightly weaker than [=SSJ3=] Goku, but the stress on his body is bad enough that even a [=SSJ3=] can outlast him in a fight. [[spoiler: The transcended version is even worse. While it allows Uub to curbstomp Goku the stress it puts on his body is so bad that in the end Uub is knocked out and left in a worse state than Goku despite not getting hit once while using it.]]

* RealityEnsues: Much like Gohan in Dragon Ball canon, her mix of Saiyan and human genetics lets her display enormous strength when pushed, even without training to back it up. Like Gohan during the fight with Raditz, Bra manages to land a surprise blow on [[spoiler:Majin Nappa]] that temporarily staggers him. Also like Gohan before he was trained as a fighter, such a burst of strength does not make a fighter on its own, and once he has his bearings [[spoiler:Majin Nappa]] makes short work of her.

* AwesomebutImpractical: The Kaioken. Thanks to a higher base strength compared to everyone else the boost that Kaioken gives him is big enough that at max output it only makes him slightly weaker then SSJ3 Goku, but the stress on his body is bad enough that even a SSJ3 can outlast him in a fight.

* OtherMeAnnoysMe: Humorously invoked when interacting with her U16 self. Bra believes her U16 counterpart needs to get a life when the latter comments on how she spent most of her life training. [[spoiler:This becomes a lot more serious when when U18 Bra sees how much of a monster her counterpart has become as a Majin and is outraged and disgusted by her actions.]]

* ReasonYouSuckSpeech: Gives a rather effective and scathing one to [[spoiler:Majin Bra pointing out her hypocrisy for sacrificing her free will for power and brushing off all her attempts to gain sympathy]]

* TheTeamNormal: Though she has fighting experience and is quite strong by human standards, Videl is the only member of U18 who is a full-blooded, normal human and, as such, is far weaker than almost everyone in the story besides the spectators.
