* TheEeyore: As a [[spoiler: Grey Warden]], she becomes this. Nothing, I repeat, nothing stops her from angsting and lamenting the life of a [[spoiler: Warden.]] Justified in that a [[spoiler: Warden's]] life really does suck when one stops to think about it.

* OnlySaneWoman: Very much so. Self-loathing issues aside, she is the most well-adjusted party member, save perhaps Varric, by a large margin. She is also one of the few named mages in the game who does not even consider communing with demons or using blood magic. She is also conciliatory towards the Chantry and Templars, believing reason and compromise are possible, and [[spoiler: only rebels when the Templars intend to exterminate all mages, including her, for a crime none of them were guilty of.]]

* BiTheWay: Implied. After hooking her up with Donnic, she asks if Hawke ever thought about [[IfYouKnowWhatIMean the two of them]]. [[LesYay The conversation does not change for Lady Hawkes]].
* BreastPlate: Initially played straight during the prologue sequence, though justifiably so; it takes little effort to forgive leather armor for being form-fitting. Heavily averted for the rest of the game - the metal plate the guards wear is the same general shape for both men and woman, giving Aveline no more chances to show off her [[IfYouKnowWhatIMean assets]].

** Also does this to a lesser extent with Merrill (teaching her how to do body shots), and Carver (goading him into [[IfYouKnowWhatIMean grow into its fangs and sink them deep.]])

*** ''Legacy'' also reveals that she's been reading Anders' grimoire in the hope of finding "dirty spells" to "[[IfYouKnowWhatIMean make things more exciting]]" between her and Hawke, if you romance her.

* ObfuscatingStupidity: Snarky!Hawke seems to employ this and BuffySpeak as a tactic to lure enemies into a false sense of security that Hawke can't possibly be as dangerous as they thought. [[spoiler: They're wrong]].

** Hawke can also complain that Varric doesn't have a proper nickname for him/her. Upon hearing this, Varric immediately decides that it is 'Waffles.' Hawke wisely decides to let the point lie.
** A particularly sarcastic Hawke can be given the nickname "Chuckles." Hawke finds it appropriate.

** His popularity among the female crowd seems to have greatly increased due to his voice actor being so likable as well.

* EstrogenBrigadeBait

* [[spoiler: BonnieAndClyde: If you romance Anders, spare his life after he blows up the Chantry, and commit to him before the FinalBattle, the two of you will go on the run together, since he is now the most wanted man in Thedas.]]

* AntiMagic: Her Cloak ability gives her temporary resistance to magic. The rest of her personal skill tree works on anything, but is especially effective against mages.

* EnemyMine: [[spoiler:As a follower of the Qun, working with Hawke and his/her companions technically counts as this.]]

* IJustWantToBeNormal: Her biggest wish is to be normal, and she resents all of the hardships brought upon her family in order to keep her safe.

* [[InkSuitActor Ink Suit Actress]]: She is modeled after FeliciaDay. Of course, since Day will also play her in the live action ''DragonAgeRedemption'', it would be bizarre if this wasn't the case. Day also did the motion capture for Tallis.

* [[spoiler:[[EveryoneCallsHimBarkeep Everyone Calls Her Barkeep]]: She is known as Tallis because that is her role in qunari society; Tallis is the qunari word for Assassin. [[NoNameGiven Like them, she doesn't actually have a name]].]]

* Koan: Does manage to give one of these.

** And Silly!Hawke's comments usually get at least a smile out of him. He even chuckles with regularity.

* TheUnfunny: His generally dour demeanor gets him ribbed on by some of the more jokey companions.
** ... Although if you keep him away from people who push his buttons, he makes his share of jokes.

** Even possible when aligned ''with'' the Mages. Several quests have Hawke purposefully have to track down rogue Mages who's WellIntentionedExtremist nature will ultimately cause more problems, often calling them out on this.

** Invoked with Aveline after they settled into the role of VitriolicBestBuds by Act III, where she offers tips on how to spice things up with Donnic in the bedroom. Considering Aveline's response to Isabela asking if Donnic's "[[GoodPeopleHaveGoodSex flipped [her] arse over tits and]] [[UnusualEuphenism hammered her like a bent nail]]" Isabela apparently succeeded.
