** There's no one in the group who plays the role of TheLancer, which as been a series tradition since ''Anime/DigimonAdventure''. Additionally, there's no human SixthRanger who joins the team later on in the series. While Espimon hits many of the same story beats, rather having a partner of his own, he serves as a second Digimon partner for Hiro.

** Hiro is the Red in that he typically wears red and his Digivice's bar fills red when evolving, but he and Gammamon also embody the RGB color spectrum as a whole in that the former has green eyes and outfits that typically accent red underclothes with a blue top, while Gammamon is white as a Child, Perfect or Ultimate and each of his Adults is predominantly one of the aforementioned colors.
** Ruli is the Green and her outfits tend to favor mint greens or forest greens, while Angoramon and her Digivice are the yellows of the CYMK spectrum.
** Kiyoshiro's outfits tend to favor dark blues and black, while Jellymon and the color bar of his Digivice are magenta.

** He gives Ruli one of these once she's able to see him. All she needs to do is materialize him.

* CatSmile: Sports one occasionally, most prominently in [=TeslaJellymon=]'s evolution sequence.

* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass: Kiyoshiro's brave side, which he refers to as a LimitBreak, tends to surface only after Jellymon revives him following an "interger overflow" (read: passing out from fear) - but he'll be back to being sheepish if he loses consciousness again. Being driven to overcome this to protect Yuna, his friends, and his classmates as he feels is his responsibility as Hazukura Academy's dorm leader allows Jellymon to super-evolve into Thetismon, and [[spoiler:willing himself into not going into an interger overflow altogether is vital during the buildup to Amphimon's debut]].

* AmbiguouslyEvil: Horrifically subverted/double subverted. His exact motives are ambiguous for most of the series, as despite his brutality and ominous appearance [[PayEvilUntoEvil he only attacks those who attacked him or Hiro first]] - while the rest of the team are terrified of him, Hiro seems to believe he just has severe trust issues. It's not until the final three episodes that he's revealed as the series' resident world-wiping apocalyptic monstrosity. Then comes the final episode of the series, and it's revealed there's an entity that's an even bigger threat, which he attempted to raise an army four in order to combat it, which would end making him not the world-wiping apocalyptic mon, and instead just a well intentioned extremist, assuming what he claims is true.

* LightIsGood: He's a Vaccine-type and on the side of the heroes.

* {{Expy}}: A humanoid Digimon with hornlike protrusions who has electric powers and calls the object of her teasing "Darling". Sounds like [[Manga/UruseiYatsura a certain Oni we know]].

* '''Ultimate (''Vital Bracelet BE'' only)''': Acturusmon, a dragon Digimon resembling a black counterpart of Siriusmon, but with drills on his arms instead of swords. A mysterious Digimon that only existed in hypothetical simulations.%%

* BigBad: In the penultimate episode of the series, he reveals that he is the Digimon spreading the GRB infection in the Digital World in order to create an army that will devour all in its path, making him ultimately responsible for the Digimon's eventual exodus into the Human World and the series' cataclysm. However if what he revealed in the season finale is true, and his claims about a dangerous entity coming to earth is in fact not false, then this would make him a Well Intentioned Extremist, rather than the big bad.

** Gets an absolutely ''[[https://64.media.tumblr.com/2b4620f130e9b046dfa7857af6f5ca13/daf95bff38eef354-54/s500x750/900582f2fcdf368596872b1ea363f3e03ec23a64.pnj spectacular one]]'' when Siriusmon suddenly opens his mouth and let's loose shades of all his forms to suck him in and ''devour him''.

* SplitPersonality: {{Downplayed|Trope}}. Whenever Kiyoshiro gets too afraid or worked up, he mutters "Integer Overflow" and nearly passes out. Upon regaining his bearings, he declares "LimitBreak", and becomes a lot more confident and serious until the situation has calmed down enough. It's unclear ''why'' this happens to him but tends to not remember what he did while it occurs. A prime example is when defending Yuna from the Kodokugumon. Before he passed out, he was his typical CowardlyLion self and shivering like a leaf. After being shocked back awake by Jellymon, he quickly takes charge of the situation, scoops Yuna up, and even uses himself as a {{human shield}} to make sure Yuna doesn't get infected with poison. After entering a Digital Field however, he trips and falls flat on his face, reverting him to normal and leaving him confused as to what happened.

* PracticallyJoker: Downplayed in his base form, but very obvious as Regulusmon. His default expression is a SlasherSmile, his primary color scheme is a mix of purple and black, he's incredibly sadistic and is feared throughout the world for his ruthlessness, believes that other Digimon are savage beasts like him, tries to corrupt the main protagonist into his worldview, seeks to cause chaos and destruction for the sake of it and cackles like a maniac after nearly every word he spews out. It's not at all difficult to find more than a few similarities between Regulusmon and the Clown Prince of Crime.

* {{Chuunibyou}}: His wears bandages to "seal his powers", meaning for style. Jellymon reveals soon after her debut that the main reason why Kiyoshiro moved back to Japan and resumed high school after graduating from university the year prior is because he wanted to experience Japanese middle school life depicted in his favorite anime and manga. To the point, the crew behind Ghost Game has straight up referred to him as a "chuuni".

Hiro calls him "Senpai", Ruli calls him "Higacchi", Gammamon calls him "Kiyo", and Jellymon calls him Darling. Side characters and Angoramon only call him by his surname.

* NoMouth: Subverted with Siriusmon: he appears to just have a face plate instead of a mouth, but in 67 he reveals he ''does'' have a mouth filled with razor-sharp teeth.

* {{Technopath}}: Gammamon has twice demonstrated an ability to unlock digital locks subconsciously. Thir first is in the second episode, "The Mystery of the Museum", and the second is in Episode 10.
