That said, it's not indestructible, as three years of constant abuse left it covered in hairline fractures. [[spoiler:Nightmare's armor didn't put up much of a defense against it. * ArtifactOfDoom: His Berserker Armor, which increases his strength and pain tolerance at the cost of slowly killing him and sending him into an UnstoppableRage whenever he fights for too long. He also has a Behelit, though he's never considered using it.
* ArtificialLimb: After he was forced to hack off his own left arm, he receives a mechanical hand that has extra features like a a repeater crossbow and a hidden single-shot cannon.
* AutomaticCrossbow: He has a repeater crossbow housed in his mechanical hand. [[spoiler:While it didn't do any damage on the Night Terror as he blocked the arrows with a wall of flame, it did manage to distract the demon long enough for Guts to perform a surprise attack. Guts also uses the crossbow after the match to pump the broken Soul Edge full of arrows]].

In his adult life he did make friends and even has a girlfriend. That was taken away from him when he was betrayed by his closest friend Griffith, who turned into a demon, murdered Guts' entire brigade, and raped his girlfriend. It's no wonder the poor guy is screwed up.
* ButForMeItWasTuesday: [[spoiler:One of the important factors for Guts' victory was that he fights powerful demons all the time who try to kill people, eat people, rape people, or any combo of the three (and that's just Monday). So a duel against Nightmare is no different from a typical manga chapter.]]

* ChildSoldiers: Was trained to fight when he was only six years old by his adoptive father. He was soon brought on the battlefield and fought alongside other mercinaries.

* CoolSword: The Dragonslayer, a massive iron slab of a sword that, due to being used on Apostles and other evil spirits, exists both in the physical realm and the astral realm. * LightningBruiser: Can run at least 100 miles per hour (or at least fast enough to keep pace with Sonic and Tails) and his punches are so fast, they ignite the hydrogen in the air in the manner of a meteor entering Earth's atmosphere ... at twenty-five thousand miles per hour. [[spoiler: While Donkey Kong can't match his speed, he's outclassed in terms of raw strength, and is nowhere NEAR as durable.]]
* LudicrousGibs: [[spoiler: He's reduced to paste, aside from his arms, when DK lands his ShockwaveClap.]]
* NoBodyLeftBehind: on the [[spoiler: Receiving]] end. It appears that [[spoiler: only his arms were not squished.]]

* RapidFireNo: Done to hilarious effect, using the infamous "OHNO" from Sonic Adventure every single time he gets hit with one of DK's homing coconuts.
* RollingAttack: He picked up on how to do the Spin Dash attack.

* SuperMode: Like Sonic, Knuckles can use the power of the Chaos Emeralds to become Super Knuckles, and if he manages to get his hands on the seven Super Emeralds, he can become the even more powerful Hyper Knuckles. Also like Sonic, these forms only last for as long as Knuckles has gold rings to fuel them. However, this was exempt from his battle since it was concluded that it could be countered by DK's Strong Kong and vice versa.
* SuperStrength: Knuckles is immensely strong, to the point where he can rip boulders out of the earth. Like DK, he's so strong his punches can ignite the air and cause explosions. [[spoiler: However, Donkey Kong has him severely outmatched in this category.]]
* SuperSpeed: While nowhere near as fast as his friends, he has been shown able to at least keep pace with the likes of Sonic and Tails. [[spoiler: While this enhanced mobility initially helps him avoid DK's Homing Coconuts and take an advantage in their initial skirmish, the fact that Knuckles needs to get within punching distance of DK to hurt him, combined with DK's ludicrous strength, mostly negated this.]]
* NotQuiteFlight: He can glide through the air by trapping air currents under his dreadlocks. [[spoiler: Unfortunately for him, he can't glide when the 800-pound Donkey Kong has a grip on him.]]
* TunnelKing: He's capable of quickly digging holes into the ground or walls with his Drill Claw, provided that they're soft enough. [[spoiler: Donkey Kong uses his severed arms to tunnel to safety after finishing Knuckles off.]]
* WallCrawl: Is able to scale vertical walls by punching into the surface with the spikes on his knuckles. [[spoiler: He attempts to do this to save himself when he and DK are faced with falling to certain death, but DK manages to grab him and Knuckles is not strong enough to hold their combined weight.]]
* YourAnswerToEverything: Punching things. On [[VideoGame/SonicAdventure2 one occasion]], Eggman was stealing the Master Emerald [[RecycledScript again]] and Knuckles decided the best course of action was to punch it and send pieces of it everywhere. Even though that has [[ColonyDrop the exact same result]] as just letting it get stolen.
