* DifficultButAwesome: Less so than [=Zer0=] or Krieg, but Maya is definitely one of the more "tactical" characters, as her special ability only targets one enemy and thus cannot be used for crowd control (at least by default) or evasion unlike every other special ability. This is particularly pronounced when playing solo. She has particular trouble with either high mobility non-phaselockable bosses or multiple high mobility melee enemies because of this.
** Again, as mentioned under Combat Support: Unless you set your skill build up with Converge, Helios, Cloudkill, and Ruin. In which case she becomes a goddess of crowd control and can eliminate multiple targets in seconds.

Travels with her personal RobotBuddy, D374-TP, or "Deathtrap", which she digistructs using her specific skill. Her secondary mechanic is Anarchy: every time she kills an enemy or reloads an empty weapon, she's awarded Anarchy stacks, which increase her gun damage and decrease her gun accuracy; if she dies or reloads a non-empty gun, the stacks decrease. Her skill trees are oriented towards increasing her and Deathtrap's survivability ('''Best Friends Forever'''), increasing her damage output and taking advantage of Shock elemental damage ('''Little Big Trouble'''), and using Anarchy stacks to becoming more powerful ('''Ordered Chaos''').

* MagikarpPower: Early-game, Salvador's Action Skill isn't particularly impressive as most of the guns you'll come across are glorified ShopFodder, so you might not even have two decent weapons to wield when using it and the health regen doesn't make him much tougher. However, as you progress through the game, Sal not only gets some excellent skills to pair with his Action Skill but you also get much fancier weapons, allowing for degrees of ExponentialPotential that no other character can match and appropriately ludicrous damage output and survivability.

However, this offensive capability comes at the expense of a total lack of defense. Only one skill helps to recover shields, and he has only two skills that allow for health regeneration (both of which are obtained relatively late in his skill trees). Of the three "defensive" skills he has, two of them can only be activated by killing an enemy. He has a hard time staying alive as a result.

A former commando for the Dahl corporation, Axton was forced out of service due to his GloryHound ways (which resulted in far too much collateral damage), which also cost him his marriage. He became a bounty hunter until he was lured to Pandora by Handsome Jack with promises of fame, fortune, and glory. Axton's skill deploys his Sabre Turret, which provides supporting fire and other benefits. His skill trees are oriented towards buffing his turrets and his fighting ability ('''Guerrilla'''), increasing his damage output and enhancing his guns ('''Gunpowder'''), and increasing his survival (aptly named '''Survival''').

A high-school engineering genius who was forced to flee to Pandora after an "incident" in her school's science fair resulted in her rival "exploding." Travels with her personal RobotBuddy, D374-TP, or "Deathtrap", which she digistructs using her specific skill. Her secondary mechanic is Anarchy stacks, which are awarded when she kills an enemy or reloads an empty gun during combat, are lost when she dies or reloads a non-empty gun, and decrease her accuracy while increasing her gun damage; as a result, she works best with close range guns with small clips that don't rely on accuracy.
