* HystericalWoman: Comes off as this when Davos Seaworth visits White Harbor to try and get the Manderly's to ally with Stannis, raving about how he seeks to bring war and blood to their house and see her husband dead. Davos is understanding of her fear, since all that is likely to happen should House Manderly side with Stannis.

* BewareTheNiceOnes: Lord Wyman is a jolly, obese gourmand who seemingly lives to eat, party & have a nice time. He is courteous, polite & one of the very few noblemen who don't treat Bran with barely disguised pity or disdain. His own subjects mock him for his obesity. He certainly doesn't seem like a very impressive figure compared to lords like the [[LightningBruiser Greatjon]]. Yet underneath his jovial facade, he has a mind like a steel trap. And push him too far, & he will make you wish you had chosen some other family to mess with...

In A Clash of Kings he also showed political and strategic shrewness and intelligence, knowing than an independant kingdom should have its own currency and proposing to create new coins for the North, as well as proposing to build a new navy for the Starks, [[spoiler: something he has been working in, as shown in "A Dance with Dragons", and has managed to hide from the Boltons and the Iron Throne.]]

Both are physical invalids who gain a reputation as appeasers while secretly plotting revenge and the restoration of the House they support. [[FireWaterJuxtaposition Dorne is surrounded by burning deserts and scorching sun, while White Harbor derives its livelihood from the White Knife river.]] [[spoiler: So far though, Wyman has been more successful and open about his motives. (These two seem related. Wyman's plans work, at least in part, because he is willing to confide in people so that they can play their parts correctly. They also both have female relatives (Doran's daughter Arianne and bastard nieces the Sand Snakes, and Wyman's younger granddaughter Wylla) who more openly want revenge]].
** The Rat Cook. They were insulted by an Andal King, so murdered the King's son and fed them to the King in a pie. They had a right to vengeance, but were punished for transgressing Guest Right. Wyman Manderly's son Wendel and King Robb Stark are murdered by the Freys and Boltons while they are the Freys' guests. [[spoiler: In revenge, Manderly murders three of the Freys, puts them in pies, and serves them to the Freys and Boltons, even wanting a song about the Rat Cook. However, unlike the Rat Cook, it is implied Wyman waits till the Freys are no longer his guests to murder them]].
