** Frieza really, ''really'' has a bad habit of doing this, threatening the newly-christened Super Saiyan Goku to kill him the same way he killed Krillin (which what caused his Super Saiyan transformation in the first place), trying to take a potshot at ''Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan'' Vegeta by calling him the "Prince of No One", and in ''Anime/DragonBallSuperBroly'', [[spoiler:he kills Pargus in an attempt to get an already berserk Broly to transform into a Super Saiyan... who proceeds to eventually beat Frieza to a bloody pulp for ''a full hour'' and probably would've died had it not been for Whis distracting him long enough for Gogeta to arrive]].

* ''Manga/{{Daily Life With Monster Girl}}'': There are a number of humans who enjoy antagonizing liminals (monsters).
Pretty stupid, since the monster girls of the series can easily hurt people just by accident. Yet, actually a semi-justified example, as strict laws mean liminals could be deported for harming humans by fighting back.

Whether it's Sting assuming he can beat Natsu despite seeing his strength and determination first-hand, Orga deciding that the best course of action would be to attack [[WorldsStrongestMan one of the Ten Wizard Saints]] head-on, or Minerva kidnapping and torturing a mutual friend of her opponents despite knowing (and exploiting the fact) that the series runs on ThePowerOfFriendship, they never seem to learn until they're eventually defeated ([[JumpingOffTheSlipperySlope with the exception of Minerva, who just gets worse]]).

** In chapter 2, they release a giant plant monster that targets women to feed off sexual energy. It captures Athena and rapes her, not knowing about [[AllWomenAreLustful her immense libido]], until the energy released by her orgasm causes it to [[OutWithABang spontaneously explode.]]

** After Goku brought down Muscle Tower, the Red Ribbon Army knew precisely how powerful he was. It didn't stop them from sending troops and their generals to kill him. It all came to a head after they hired Mercenary Tao to kill him. Tao killed one of Goku's friends. In turn, Goku went after all the Dragon Balls and took out the Red Ribbon while he was at it.
** Cell does this to Gohan during the Cell Games. In an odd variation on the trope, Gohan ''at the time'' was hardly a match for Cell. Cell kept pressing his {{Berserk Button}}s so he'd unleash his hidden power and be a WorthyOpponent. Cell underestimated just how worthy he'd be.
** Before then, the Royal Army tried to kill Cell during the period before the Cell Games. This is despite knowing that Cell could destroy a city. It ends [[CurbStompBattle the way you expect]].
** Unlike his father who favored the carrot (cake), Babidi preferred to use the stick in controlling Buu. Whenever Buu showed some disobedience, Babidi would threaten to reseal the monster. This continued until Goku scolded Buu for letting such a weak coward order him around, and Babidi shortly thereafter found himself lacking a head.
** Gotenks thought he could take Buu easily and mocks him for being ugly and fat. Buu responses by beating his butt into the ground. While Gotenks is badly hurt, the military tries to attack Buu. Gotenks tries vainly to warn them to stop. Buu obliterates the army.

** Chi-Chi slaps Buu in the face and yells at him due to being given false information of Buu apparently being responsible for Gohan's death. What's his response? Turning her into an egg and crushing her. Especially stupid since mere seconds ago, Buu had [[KillAllHumans wiped out the entire human race]] with [[BeamSpam one attack]], and Chi-Chi ''saw'' him do so.
*** She herself is a victim of this in a filler episode. After she throws Mr. Shu out after he insults Goku and harms her son, Mr. Shu yells at her until she chases him, warning him to never return.
** In ''[[Anime/DragonBallZBattleOfGods Battle of Gods]]'', Bulma angrily chews out Beerus for [[ABirthdayNotABreak spoiling her birthday]] and slaps him across the face. Keep in mind that Beerus is the [[PhysicalGod God of]] [[PersonOfMassDestruction Destruction]] and TheDreaded even for Shenron himself, and Bulma just saw him effortlessly [[CurbStompBattle curb-stomp]] all of the Z-Fighters, including Vegeta, with her own eyes. Thankfully, she gets off with nothing more than an ArmorPiercingSlap.
*** Goku even invokes this in ''[[Anime/DragonBallZResurrectionF Resurrection 'F']]'', telling Vegeta that they have to go back to Earth right away before Bulma does or says something stupid to piss Frieza off.
** In ''[[Anime/DragonBallZResurrectionF Resurrection 'F']]'', Frieza's men sees Frieza taking on the Super Saiyan again as this. Tagoma tells Frieza point-blank to leave Goku alone. He didn't live very long after speaking up.

Rape said lovers until they're broken beyond repair ''right before their eyes'' and either kill said lovers, or "give them back" to the newly minted [[SuperSoldier Super Soldiers]] as broken dolls... [[DidNotThinkThisThrough Yeah...]]

* ''Manga/KenichiTheMightiestDisciple'': Kenichi used to be weak and powerless. He still looks like a little dude due to his training, and even still acts afraid of people many, many, many, MANY times weaker than him, just because they look scary. This is slightly subverted as the moment the bullies/thugs find out who he is, they usually back off and immediately apologize out of fear.
** Played much straighter with Natsu Tanimoto AKA Hermit. He, unlike Kenichi, will NOT hesitate to murder you. He will do so in a way that makes it look like it was someone else, but he WILL beat you black, blue, and red all over.

* ''Anime/VividStrike'' has this as part of Rinne's backstory. The fighting club full of {{Alpha Bitch}}es decided to make her their [[KidsAreCruel bullying target]] after Rinne turned down their offer to join their club and they learned that she was just an orphan. This, despite the reason that they were offering her to join their club was due to them learning that Rinne has the physical stats of a national-level athlete. When they eventually pushed things too far [[spoiler:by beating her to unconsciousness so [[NeverGotToSayGoodbye she wasn't able to make it to her beloved grandfather's side before he died]]]], [[BewareTheQuietOnes Rinne made them suffer dearly the following day]], [[spoiler:casually snapping the arm of one and busting the other two's heads open against the lockers]].

* Early on in ''Manga/HighSchoolDebut'', a bunch of seniors call out Haruna for spending so much time with Yoh [[spoiler: after the two of them start dating]]. This is after she's subjected to some StockShoujoBullyingTactics by the girls in question. However, when they finally call her out on the school roof, they make the mistake of trying to make it physical by shoving Haruna. Keep in mind that Haruna was an ActionGirl back in middle school and still regularly exercises and keeps up with her softball skills. So when they shove, she rolls up her sleeves and lets the girls know that, "if that's what it takes," she's more than willing to trade blows. She's in a four-on-one fight... and ''wins'' with just superficial scrapes on her face. Not only that, but in the next chapter, a flashback to her victory shows that at least two of the girls got injured when Haruna just [[MadeOfIron tanked their blows]].

** In ''[[Anime/DragonBallZBattleOfGods Battle of Gods]]'', Bulma angrily chews out Beerus for [[ABirthdayNotABreak spoiling her birthday]] and slaps him across the face. Keep in mind that Beerus is the [[PhysicalGod God of]] [[PersonOfMassDestruction Destruction]] and TheDreaded even for Shenron himself, and Bulma just saw him effortlessly [[CurbStompBattle curb-stomp]] all of the Z-Fighters, including Vegeta, with her own eyes. Thankfully, she gets off with nothing more than an ArmorPiercingSlap. The trio later return with the whole gang to get even with Tohru, by sending their largest and strongest member on her... [[CurbStompBattle only for her to promptly send him flying with a single punch to the face before wiping out the rest of the gang with one kick]].

His first fight against the Mink Tribe ends with [[spoiler:his use of one of Caesar Clown's [=WMDs=]]] because the fight was a hopeless stalemate on both sides; from there, he went on to attempt to bail Doflamingo out as he was being transported to Impel Down despite being guarded by [[HopelessBossFight Sengoku, Fujitora, Tsuru, Maynard, and Bastille]] (which ended with him [[spoiler:getting beaten to a pulp and losing a good deal of his fleet]]), and finished by attempting to [[spoiler:kill Zunisha and take down all of Zou]], which cost him [[spoiler:his remaining fleet and has also left him stranded on the ocean floor]]. Jack is proof that unless you're truly inexorable, there will always be fights that you can't win, and punching outside your weight class will almost never turn out in your favor if you don't know when to back down.
