No meta moment, see this query.

** Plus a meta one, as the vampire fangs used in the first couple years were notoriously hard to talk with and left almost everyone with a noticeable lisp, but even at such a young age Creator/SarahMichelleGellar was articulate enough to be able to sound totally normal.

* A meta one for the animators. Computer effects on television are pretty standard nowadays, with a lot of sci-fi and fantasy shows relying heavily on CG effects to cut out the amount of money that would be spent on elaborate sets and practical effects. Buffy was one of the flagship shows for this, as can be seen if you watch the Season 3 extras. They were among the first shows ever to make use of full CGI on television as opposed to movies, notable examples being the dusting, the morphing and the two snake demons of S3. Without Buffy showing that it was possible and cost effective, television as we know it might have been radically different. It may look very much like a 1999 effect today, but back then it was truly incredible stuff being done on a three week production deadline.

* In the novel ''Portal Through Time'':
** Time-traveling Order of Aurelius members try to kill a young Buffy to save their leader but find out that YouCantFightFate that easily. In the first alternate timeline they create, the alternate Slayer killed and usurped the Master after being turned into a vampire. In another alternate timeline, the new Slayer realizes that the Master can't ascend without drinking her blood and avoids facing him in battle until she and her Watcher can dynamite the Master's cavern lair, killing him and most of his men.
** The vampries then try to kill past Slayers to mess up the Slayer timeline and the Scooby Gang goes after them. Their first attempt leads to a MeleeATrois fight on a battlefield between Romans and Druids, with the latter group using their magic to bring rocks and trees to life as combatants.
** In ancient Sumeria, when the gang is under attack by a plague demon, Willow uses magic to [[SummonBiggerFish summon a dragon to fight the demon]], harnesses the infecteous plagues that are felling the Scooby Gang to incapacitate a vampire assasin, and draws the demon's attention away from her friends by making various DidYouJustFlipOffCthulhu insults in a language she barely understands.
** When Buffy is wounded in the crossfire of a battle in UsefulNotes/TheAmericanCivilWar, she still wants to get up and defend the wounded soldiers from vampires that are flocking to the abandoned battlefield. Giles stands in for her, and, as Willow watches him dust vamps left and right, she realizes she is seeing what Giles was like during his wild youth, when he was known as Ripper.

* In the novel ''Mortal Fear'', BigBad Simon brainwashes nearly everyone in Sunnydale while making their blood poisonous to vampires, giving them super strength, and manipulating Dawn, Willow, and Xander into temporarily joining his side. He achieves a better, more chilling NearVillainVictory in one book than some villains do in entire seasons.
