It was traumatic enough for him that he never read any online comments for his work afterwards.

** SelfDeprecation: The series runs on this, as it's pretty obvious that much of the production staff's (particularly Mizushima's) real-world experiences go into each episode.

Three high school friends -- Aoi Miyamori, Ema Yasuhara, and Shizuka Sakaki -- along with their two juniors Misa Todou and Midori Imai, vow to produce an animated series together. As the Animation Club, with a lot of work, they're able to make a short show for the school festival. Soon enough however, Aoi, Ema, and Shizuka graduate, but all five vow to meet again at Tokyo someday to see their dream fulfilled.

Fast forward to two years later, and Aoi is working as a production assistant at Musashino Animation, while Ema works as an animator in the same company. Day in and day out, they're exposed to the harsh realities of the animation industry that they so loved, like long hours, production delays, production staff at loggerheads with each other, never mind how this leaves little time for them to do what ''they'' want. Is it still possible for them to reach their high school goal of doing a series together?
