* CoolGuns:
** [[ImpossiblyCoolWeapon The Dominators]] are the standard-issue weapons for the Public Safety Bureau, but conventional gunpowder weapons are still used, though they're rare in the setting. Of special note is the [[ShotgunsAreJustBetter over-under double-barrel shotgun]] used by Toyohisa Senguji, a [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Browning_Citori Browning Citori]]. Much later in the series, [[spoiler:Masaoka points Kougami to a secret stash from his old police days to help him]] obtain a [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ruger_SP101 Ruger SP101]] [[RevolversAreJustBetter revolver]].[[note]]The shotgun is actually TruthInTelevision as the only factory in the world that manufactures the Citori is found in Japan. [[spoiler:Masaoka]] having an [=SP101=] is a little unusual as while Japanese policemen do use revolvers, they typically carry Smith & Wesson or New Nambu models instead.[[/note]]
** The novelization identifies the double-barreled shotgun as being a Beretta. If you're familiar with the market for Beretta shotguns, their over-under double barrels are outrageously expensive (the cheapest models sell for around $2,700 while the most expensive model, the SO Sparviere, tops out at '''$90,000'''), which illustrates Senguji's status as one of the {{Fiction500}}.

* MultiEthnicName: [[EnforcedTrope Enforced]] by the Sibyl System in Season 3. Prospective immigrants to Japan are required to take a Japanese first name to obtain permanent residency status, although after this they are not required to use it in their everyday lives. Kei Mikhail Ignatov, his wife Maiko Maya Stronskaya, and his deceased brother Akira Vasily Ignatov are all examples of this. First victim, Asahi Rick Fellows, also follows this[[spoiler:, as does his wife, Kaori Adele Fellows, after her immigration application is accepted]].

** Shogo Makishima despises the Sybil System and wants to free the people from it's control. No horrible crime, such as terrorism, could stop him on that goal.
** Kirito Kamui, unlike Makishima, thought that Sybil System can be changed, but it needs a judge for it's decisions.
** Tsunemori Akane, over the course of the series, understood that despite the obvious problems Sybil System has, it still helps people and thus is needed for the time being.

** The second opening theme, "Out of Control" by Nothing's Carved in Stone, has the whole song entirely in English which is pronounced correctly and easy to understand.
** In general, all the English text that appears in-universe is grammatically accurate and mostly spelled correctly, notwithstanding some {{Engrish}} instances. As a matter of fact, the official languages of the Public Safety Bureau appear to be English and Japanese, as evidenced in episode 2 of the first season when Akane writes a report about the previous day's events and the text on her monitor is in both English and Japanese.
