** In one chapter of ''Manga/TheTyrantFallsInLove'', Morinaga and Souichi get into an argument on whether Morinaga should continue staying at Souichi's place to keep a lookout for the stalker or move to another place for his safety. In exasperation, Souichi yells that he'd rather be hurt than have things precious to him be hurt. His declaration isn't explicit enough to completely resolve the "[[WillTheyOrWontThey does he like him back or not]]" issue, but judging from Morinaga's stunned face and Souichi's "[[DidIJustSayThatOutLoud My God, what did I just blurt out?]]" expression, it's a tad more revealing than he intended.

** All the First Generation cyborgs have a PrecociousCrush on their handlers, but Triela resists the idea that she's in love with Hilshire because she can't be sure that such feelings are genuine or just a result of her conditioning. After discovering that Hilshire threw away his previous career as a police officer to rescue her from a SnuffFilm, and continues to work for the Agency purely to continue protecting her, she realises he's worthy of her affection.

* A bit more of a literal example in ''Manga/GunslingerGirl'': Petrushka confesses her love to Alessandro, but he dismisses it as a result of her conditioning. To prove it isn't, she slaps and then insults him, both acts which, due to her conditioning, make her physically ill.

* In ''Manga/{{Claudine}}'', [[spoiler: the main character]] gives one to [[spoiler: the local HotLibrarian Cecilia. He's rejected]].

* [[spoiler:Rue]] confesses her love for [[spoiler:Mytho]] this way in ''Anime/PrincessTutu''. As the object of her affection is sending himself to certain [[DoomyDoomsOfDoom doom]] [[spoiler:because she tainted his heart with Raven's blood]], the poor girl chases after him screaming and wailing in anguish at the top of her lungs: "I've loved you ever since I was a little girl! '''''And I'll keep on loving you forever!"''''' [[spoiler:This sets Mytho's heart free from the Raven's blood, but marks poor Rue as a target to the Raven. Mytho spends most of the rest of the finale trying to save her]].

** Later on in the novels, Sousuke and Kaname ''finally'' get their chance to declare their love for each other as well -- while on ''an open radio frequency''. Everybody that counts in both Mithril ''and'' Amalgam hears them -- including Leonard and Tessa. While (in the original Japanese) Kaname uses a ''slightly'' more temperate expression of love, Sousuke goes straight for the "aishiteru" formula -- the very same that Gauron had thrown at him during the above-mentioned suicide attempt, and actually the most serious one in Japanese language. Sousuke gets mercilessly teased by Kurz and Mao afterwards -- Kaname is still a prisoner of Leonard so she has it worse, as Leonard actually '''beats her up'''. Leonard is a ''very'' sore loser, unfortunately…

Nyarko isn't shy about professing her love for Mahiro in [[ManicPixieDreamGirl over-the-top fashion]] and even manages to do it in more subtle, sweet ways when he complains about her being too hyper. But then Mahiro has to play TheBeard for a friend, and spending a whole day following them is too much for Nyarko. She confronts him that night and has an emotional breakdown, sobbing over how much it hurt watching him even pretending to be another woman's fiancé, and how his refusal to [[CanNotSpitItOut just say whether he likes her or not]] is driving her crazy. In his own {{Tsundere}} way, Mahiro manages to say that he likes Nyarko, and they spend the rest of the night snuggling.
** Worth noting, in this scene Nyarko goes from using her usual "''daisuki''" (大好き), the normal way of saying "love" in Japanese, to the much more intense and meaningful "''aishiteru''" (愛してる).

* ''Literature/RebuildWorld'': In the web novel version, [[spoiler:the young pickpocket Alna tearfully declares her love for Katsuya while admitting to him that she lied to and manipulated him to protect herself, saying he should GoOnWithoutMe to let her meet her LaserGuidedKarma. Katsuya refuses but Akira fatally wounds her while they're talking, and after Alna [[DiedInYourArmsTonight dies in Katsuya's arms]], he goes in an UnstoppableRage at the nearby gang mercenaries hunting them both, [[InvokedTrope just as planned]] by Alpha to have him serve as a distraction for Akira to get away]].

* Ths second season of ''Literature/SoundEuphonium'' ends with [[spoiler:Kumiko]] doing this towards her graduating upperclassman [[spoiler:Asuka]]. It's most likely intended to be platonic in this case.

* In ''Literature/SwordArtOnline'', Suguha lets her feelings for Kirito develop in order to help her give up on Kazuto. That's why, by the end of Episode 22, she has a rather anguished moment where she finally confesses her love to Kazuto right after she learns that he and Kirito are the same person.

* In ''Literature/{{Toradora}}'', Ryuji gets hurt in the pool and nearly drowns. When Ami tries to take him to the nurse's office Taiga cries and screams "Ryuji is mine!" in tears. [[{{Tsundere}} Although she later recants that it was a love confession]], everyone around them takes it as one. Things would have been easier for everyone and ''especially'' for her if she'd simply let it stand as a confession.

* In a climactic episode of ''Anime/GulliverBoy'', [[spoiler: once [[ObliviousToLove Gulliver]] is ''finally'' clued in regarding [[MagicalGirl Misty's]] feelings for him after he misses the point of her LoveConfession, he [[IdiotHero calls himself a fool]] and decides to do this before she has to leave the group. The next time they meet, Gulliver and Misty are in separate airships: he first apologizes to her for being so oblivious, then [[PleaseDontLeaveMe begs her to stay with him and their friends]], and finishes with "I ask that from you... '''because I love you too, Misty''''!" Misty is so touched that [[IChooseToStay she decides to stay]] -- showing it by jumping off the other airship, [[FallingIntoHisArms and straight into Gulliver's embrace]].]]

** ''Anime/MazingerZ'': At one of the last episodes Sayaka [[spoiler:[[PietaPlagiarism was holding a wounded Kouji in her arms,]] and thinking he was dead, she cried out she loved him and wanted to marry him.]] Then [[spoiler:he opened his eyes and showed he was just teasing her. Then she decided to kill him for real.]]
** And in the second chapter of ''Manga/ShinMazingerZero'', she [[spoiler:falteringly uttered she loved Kouji]] shortly before [[spoiler:dying.]]
* ''Manga/MidoriDays'': Twice in the same chapter. [[spoiler: Ayase, after spending the entire series to lure Seiji into an "appropriate" moment, after nearly a year of perfect chances being missed because of insecurities, [[IHaveThisFriend she confesses her love (and her attempts) to Seiji]]. Seiji, however, then tells her that he does have a girlfriend (which is Midori, after spending the series not liking her). Ayase smiles, runs off, and says "It's alright! I confessed! It's alright!" and cries under the street lights.]]

** Shizuru's declaration to Natsuki is accompanied by her going insane, because [[{{Gayngst}} she believes her love for Natsuki is "wicked"]], and Natsuki had just overheard a conversation between Shizuru, Haruka, and Yukino where it was revealed that [[DudeShesLikeInAComa Shizuru had kissed Natsuki in her sleep]], and an accusation from Yukino that [[AmbiguousSituation suggests she may have done more than that.]]

** When Sasuke sets out to betray the village, Sakura confesses her love for him and tells him that she is willing to leave with him and betray the village just so they can stay together. His response is "you're annoying", followed by a "thank you", followed by whacking her on the back of the neck and rendering her unconscious. Even today, years after this happened, people are ''still'' not entirely sure what he meant by that; it's an IronicEcho of a conversation that moments before he denied remembering, and he later carries her to a park bench instead of just leaving her to lie on the ground. This suggests he wasn't being ''completely'' cruel to her [[CruelToBeKind but was stopping her from taking his dark path]]. [[ProtagonistJourneyToVillain Back then]]. [[spoiler:This initial confession receives a CallBack when Sakura begs him not to fight Naruto and confesses her love a final time. Sasuke knocks her out with a genjutsu of him impaling her with a Chidori, then sneers to Naruto and Kakashi that she was a deluded fool clinging to a fantasy and that he had no idea why she'd fallen for him in the first place. After Naruto beats some sense into him, Sasuke begins to reciprocate her feelings and they eventually get married.]]

** Implied love declaration #1 happens when [[spoiler:Gilbert]] exasperatedly asks why [[spoiler:Vincent]] is working with the Baskervilles and constantly putting his life on the line. [[spoiler:Vincent]] answers by saying that everything he has done was for [[spoiler:Gilbert]] and literally states, "Because I love you!" in the beginning. The reason the romantic love is still only considered implied is because [[spoiler:Vincent]] is [[spoiler:Gilbert's younger brother.]] However, he's been known for [[spoiler:BigBrotherAttraction / IncestSubtext]], and [[spoiler:Gilbert]] has a very visibly uncomfortable reaction to his declaration.
